Popular Post PMookie
I wanted to make sure to share these two instances with the folks here on the forum so that those who print shipping labels at home will be aware of some recent issues I’ve faced using FedEx, and UPS. In the last month I sold my Clicgear push cart, and a Tensei Orange 80 g shaft. I boxed both of them at home, weighed them at home, and measured them at home, using this info to create labels online, direct, to save money. The Clicgear weighed 24 pounds, and the Tensei weighed less than 3. I got a notice from UPS that “after review”, they were charging me and additional $55 for shipping a box that weighed 74 pounds. Yep. My Clicgear went from 24 to 74. Next I get an email from FedEx that I’m being charged an additional $41 for a box that weighed 15 pounds. Yep. My single 80g shaft went from 2.5 pounds to 15!!!!!!! I contacted UPS and got a refund for their attempt to overcharge me. Their reasoning was the box had a POTENTIAL weight of 74 lbs based-on its dimensions. POTENTIAL... It didn’t matter what the ACTUAL weight was.... Again, got my money back by going through the dispute avenue. Today I sent my email to FedEx to dispute their additional charge showing pics of the item sold, etc. I’m hoping I’ll get my $41 back! So, word to the wise, printing labels at home can save a little bit of money, but maybe it’s better just to do everything AT UPS or FedEx so there can’t be any BS pulled on their end after the items have been delivered. Golfspy_CG2
I know you are a beast and all, but a 15 pound shaft I have run into the same thing with UPS box size. I ONCE shipped a standard size stand bag, 5 pounds at most, add a couple pounds generously for packing, and it was $70!! Not much I could do. The guy at the UPS Store said it was due to the Oversize box--a regular size golf bag box--and not so much the weight. I have found shipping a driver in a driver box at 3 or 4 pounds is more expensive than shipping a set of irons at 8 to 10 pounds in an iron size box. Again due to the driver box being extra long. So I've learned to account for that in my asking price for any driver I sell online. GolfSpy_SHARK
Last month I shipped a driver shaft to @ejgaudette and went to pre print labels. Same thing pre-measure and pre-weighed at work. UPS/FEDEX were insane pricing not sure what the deal was but I am assuming similar situation. USPS was substantially less and what I would expect to pay. I do not or claim to know the ins and outs of shipping logistics but it was 5x as much to send it through UPS/FEDEX, I was about to drive it to him. Tom the Golf Nut
I got bent over the counter by UPS. I used their on line price tool. Entered in the weight and dimensions of the box. Used this price to add to the purchase price for something I sold on line. Completed the transaction and when i went to UPS they increased the price by $25.00. I raised the bull flag and showed them on my phone. The reply was well I guess that was wrong, our system shows this sorry. Do you want to ship it or not? GolfSpy BOS
Prices have gotten crazy. I sell a fair amount on eBay and have basically just started not using free shipping, which sucks because everyone likes to see that. Too much variability between locations and carriers. I make sure to have them scan it in at the store so I have proof of the weight in a receipt if needed. Kanoito
And that's not just happening with end customers. Our company has a big account with UPS and they've been s***: asking the wrong customer for customs clearance, providing internal pricing to wrong customers, charging import tax for wrong items, sending invoices with charges such as "special request" and nobody can explain what the request was... release
Who are running the business these days ? For that matter, who are running everything these days ? Bunch of idiots who have no hands on experiences of the role they're taking responsibility. Very typical in today's society. Or, worse, this might be a scheme to keep your money there until the process circled back for refund. The mere action of keeping your money in their account for those weeks could mean something significant if we're talking about 7 figures or more from all the mishandled transactions.. It is dead wrong of their action, whether intentionally or not. LeftyHawk and PMookie

They took money from your account but never notified you ?????? Are they counting on there is no better choice for the consumer to turn to ? This smells funny. Maybe the corporation had adapted the program to amass numbers under their account at the right time of the month to skim off the interest rate payment from the financial institutions. Probably some programmer trying to suck out every dime from the system, using digital analyzing program. Maybe that's why there are more than one shipping carrier, practice this method. We need to put more people back in production instead of playing with the software. Sign of the time. We really have to watch out for our own interest now, I guess time is tough for everyone. edingc
I've had reasonable luck with USPS lately, using PirateShip to print labels at home. I always make sure to enter slightly larger dimensions (round up to nearest inch) and weight (+4 oz), but had a similar experience last month. I shipped a SuperSpeed-C club to @B.Boston and about two weeks later USPS tried to tell me the box magically shrunk from 48" to 2" long and somehow gained four pounds.
