rpaikowski
Looking for some advice. I have been playing with clubs with Regular Plus shafts, which have been great, but have gotten a smidge to stiff for me. After asking around, it looks like new clubs would actually be a better buy than reshafting. So, for probably my last club purchase, what will be more important, club head or shaft? Also, would a game improvement iron, with the right shaft, work just as well as super game improvement? I've been a Ping guy and like the looks of the G425s, the 710s I guess are pretty long, so maybe they would be better as I get older. Or, a different club maker than those.? I trust you guys, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote REP Link to comment

Thin2win
During the podcast regarding the ball test months back, Tony said that one thing that stood out to him was the trajectory of different dimple patterns. He said an article on that would be fourth coming. My interest is still here. I'm using a launch monitor a lot this winter, but I know that it considers every ball to have the same simple pattern. I'm curious if it gives some balls better flight then they would actually have, and conversely of it would give other balls worse flight then they would have. pakman92
Being bit of a math geek, I’d love to see statistical significance/confidence information on review results. I think we may find that we are thinking one product is better than the other when statistically it’s just noise. It may murky many of the results/ conclusions made in these tests, but at least they will represent the truth behind the numbers much better. To get to statistical sign I can’t results you may find that some testing may need to be expanded (more subject and more shots) Edited December 22, 2021 by pakman92 JohnSmalls and tony@CIC 2 Quote Epic Max LS 11.5° (10.5°+1) w/ Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 6 stiff Epic Flash 3 Wood 17° (15°+2) w/ Project X Even Flow Green 60 stiff Super Hybrid 21° (20°+1) w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 80 stiff Rogue Hybrid 5 (24°) w/ Aldila Synergy 60 HYB Graphite stiff 2021 P790 Irons 5-AW (1° flat, weakened lofts) w/ Aerotech Steelfiber i95 cw regular CBX2 Wedges 54°, 58° w/ True Temper DG 115 Wedge flex Odyssey White Hot OG #1 Stroke Lab, 33 in Pro V1 Bushnell Launch Pro Link to comment

With that said shafts don’t nearly have the impact that most people think they do. as for club type it depends on what works best for you. It could be that neither work best because of weight, look or something like turf interaction Quote Link to comment
ChitownM2
Can we get a little feedback on what is being done with this thread? Certainly don't expect a response to every post but I figured we would have seen something come up in a NPG or an article written... Quote Link to comment

mynerds
Question for HQ (maybe specifically for Tony): the 2022 Most Wanted Utility Iron dropped last week (6/27) and news of the new Stealth Utility Iron and Driving Iron dropped today (7/5). Given the interest and high performance of the Stealth line, I have to imagine that positive interest (and possibly performance) will also carry over into these new clubs. Presumably, the article was previously written and the posting embargo lifted today. Was/is there any communication between MGS staffers on new clubs coming out and the posting of the Most Wanted series? It seems like it would be unfortunate to have to wait another year before seeing how the Stealth UDI and DHY stack up against the other utility irons because the Most Wanted Utility Iron article dropped a week too early. Would the Most Wanted list be updated to include this latest release? While I am not staff, I am one of the most wanted testers and talk to the guys pretty regularly so I have some insight into the process. There is communication between all the staff on what is coming out and what is being tested. from a testing perspective, OEMs send clubs they want tested to MGS and MGS buys some high interest clubs in the open market if the OEM didnt send them. Just because a club hasn’t been released doesn’t mean it won’t be tested. Testing starts in December and there is frequently embargo’d clubs as part of the testing. We are still in the process of testing clubs with hybrids wrapping up, 3 woods, and wedges still on the list so no, we won’t go back and test the new TM clubs for this years utility iron tests so it would probably be next year before it was included. hope that helps. sirchunksalot, JohnSmalls, GolfSpy_SHARK and 2 others 5 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017 Link to comment

Again I need to reiterate that I don't have contact with HQ as THV is our Community Manager and the one that has those discussions. The zoom idea I could see working for a select few. Not for me as the time change makes it highly unlikely I'll be able to partake. That being said I believe Bennett is going to introduce herself and look to get more involved on the forum (from the news that was past along to me and the other mods from THV). It has been great to see Dave and Barbs on more recently contributing! We appreciate it and it makes a difference. I would still love to see Tony bring back the gratuitous photo posts he use to make. I've requested it, but not sure if it went anywhere? Hopefully we see more continued activity from HQ staff and Bennett is able to come on and get involved on the forum and that could help both the forum and this new zoom member platform that has been discussed. sirchunksalot, tony@CIC, JohnSmalls and 4 others 7 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout!
