Remember that I've been a member at Bayou for 7 or 8 years.  My old watch did not have this difficulty and it's only on number 1.  I certainly used the old watch there countless times.  Most of my rounds are at Bayou.

Weird! I don't know what else to suggest. It has got to be the teeing area isn't mapped as such, or the tee shot on one isn't being recognized. You'll have to go through the possibilities there:

- watch not synched with satellites yet
- you put the watch on pause and forgot to resume before the 1st shot
- you choke down too far on the first shot to get/keep it in play
- you haven't subscribed to the course through the app and done any update
- all software updates have been done to the new watch
- if it was a Shot Scope watch you lost and you are still using the tags from the original, maybe a tag going bad

If it is doing that, it is either because your tee shot was not detected, or the tee box you are hitting from has not properly been mapped and identified as a "Tee".

That was an issue I had about a month ago - the app kept showing me teeing off the tips. The solution was a new Driver sensor which immediately fixed the issue . @fozcyclecheck your watch as you make a practice swing to make sure it's reading the sensor - it may be as simple as the sensor is worn out.

@revkev, as Phil mentioned in the post above: "you haven't subscribed to the course through the app and done any update"  I was surprised how many courses on my app had an update - it's something I don't routinely check. If that's not the problem then definitely contact support.

I'm not 100% sure the watch he lost was a Shot Scope! Which, in that case, I still think it is a mapping issue as Shot Scope does their own mapping based on satellite imagery from Google, I believe. Depending on when those images were taken, sometimes it is not easy to determine the location of tee boxes or where fairways end and rough begins.

Actually, Shotscope uses a 3rd party resource that maps golf courses. I had an issue last fall with one of our 9's ( we have 3 of them). They linked me to this resource to confirm the accuracy of the starting hole. Unfortunately I don't remember the site they steered me to. Regardless,  a quick message to SS support gets it resolved  - my issue only took a couple of days to fix.

Maybe the switched to a 3rd party, but a YouTube vide from 2 years ago said they did it themselves

In any event, they do not use pre-mapped courses, whether it is done in-house or by a 3rd party they outsource to. Any mapping issue I've had, just a couple, I've always addressed directly with Shot Scope, and they were quick to make the fix or addition.

Next up is something similar to what Tony is mentioning although when I try to edit and select the club, I get kicked completely out of the app altogether.

Just had something similar happen tonight as I was editing a round, I put in a shot that was missed - no problem there. But, when I went in to apply a 2 stroke penalty adjacent to where it went OB, I got kicked out of the app. Went back in and it had saved the first change but then when I went in to add that penalty I got kicked out again. I think SS needs to do some more robust testing. I'll email them this weekend with the issue.

This is all through the app right? Have you tried using the desktop version to see if it's doing the same thing?

I never use the app to edit my rounds as I find the desktop easier to use with a mouse.

I've used the new desktop version and did not get knocked out for the penalty.  With the older version I was using desktop because it was easier than the app.  I find the new app easier to edit - but if it's less stable, I may go back to the desktop.

Probably the biggest reason I use the desktop Dashboard is because of the level of zoom that can be used, especially to look at the green complex.

Got my first round of 2023 in. Sadly, I don't have much to add to the app update/issues conversation because the app currently will not open for me to sync my round. I did make sure to download the latest app update last night and even checked for course updates (good thing too as the course I played today had one!).

Anyway, my biggest problem right now is that the app is 100% unusable. Going to uninstall and reinstall to see if that does anything and get back with you guys tomorrow probably.

I’d suggest signing out then delete the app and reinstall. I believe the recommendation from SS was just that before using the new version.

It would be nice to know what phone you are using, iPhone or an Android phone. I know Shot Scope has issues with Android phones because there are different versions of the OS that can affect how their app interacts.

Nothing of note to add, but when I logged in recently I noticed that the satellite images of my course have been updated.  Went from dreary-looking browns of late fall to lush vibrant greens of early summer.

Just like that, I'm getting the itch to get out there, snow or no snow!!

Wife and I were playing in a scramble yesterday and when I went out this morning to practice putts this is what I found.

IMG_9551.jpg.92944cc048435af437ea15ee886962fa.jpg

The plastic insert in my Super Stroke putter grip that holds the counterbalance weight (and my putter sensor) was missing Whatever glue they use to hold the screw insert failed after about 6 months. I ended up playing the entire 18 without a putter sensor - I was making notations on each hole and figured I could add them in after.

So why am I posting this on the Shotscope thread? When I went in to edit my round I found that the edit feature in the app defaults to 2 putts if it can't read the putter sensor. Interesting and thought you guys should know. BTW my V3 putter settings are set to AUTO.

p.s. I found the entire insert/counter weight/sensor in the bottom of my golf bag. But instead of gluing it back in I decided instead to get a new grip., especially since I've got a couple of extra putter sensors.

It's pretty neat that they can get it to just give you regulation 2 putt on each hole.

Sorry it's taken a few days to get back on here after my round Saturday. Uninstalling/reinstalling fixed my app issues so that was easy though arguably annoying. Got to play around with the desktop and app versions and have to say I'm quite impressed with the changes. While I still prefer the additional zoom of using the web dashboard around the green, it's pretty much a non-issue since the app provides the little "nudge" arrows as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recreate the issue Tony had, but perhaps that just means SS have somehow corrected it? Not sure how that would be without pushing an update but I'm not the expert on that so who knows. Maybe something on the backend.?

As for how I played, it wasn't great. Struck the ball reasonably well but hit into some of the absolute worst places and putting was atrocious - my own fault for setting a goal of not really going past the hole on any putts because I'm trying to regain some distance control. SS is still looking into the issue of my inactive (bottom) menu after editing. FYI I'm running IOS 15.1 and SS app version 2.13.6

@TR1PTIK did you check to see if the menu was active after editing? Note: it happens after I go into performance/clubs/longest club and select a specific club to edit (because the distance seemed longer than normal).

Edit: For instance after signing off on several rounds I'll go back in to check clubs and distances - recently I found I had a SW with a longest distance of 100 yds  which was way longer then typical. you can then click on that distance and it takes you to the round and the specific hole and it's at this point after the edit that I have problems with the menu

I'll double check that, but I'm also running 16.2 now so that could have a little to do with it as well. The troubles I initially ran into were on 16.0 and when I did the initial app update I did not sign out or anything - just applied the update from the app store. After doing a full uninstall/reinstall + updating iOS I haven't run into anything.

OK thx. I held off updating the new ios  but now that 16.2 is available I'll try that.

Just went through a couple of times trying what you mentioned and didn't seem to have any problems. I did however have the app stall on me when using the "nudge" arrows to move a tee shot more than just a few yards.

Thee is an alternative that doesn't even require a putter tag. Go into settings, putting, and select manual mode, remembering to hit the button next to the check mark. Then, on the course while standing over the ball every time you are using the putter (even from off the green), hit the top right button. That marks the location of that putt. Do the same for any putts following. Then, after holing out, hit the bottom right button to mark the location of the hole.

That is how the V3 watch works. I assume that is an option on the H4 as well.

Yes, that is how the h4 works.

The notion of counting the use of the putter from off the green as a putt is something I don’t understand. If you are off the green it isn’t a putt. They say the stats are adjusted to be correct but no one can seems to explain the reasoning for this and it goes against how stats are normal collected. It’s like marking a second shot on a par 5 as positional even though you can’t reach the green.

Yup I'm aware of the option and initially used it - but occasionally would forget to mark the putts when in manual mode - that's why I switched to auto.

Only when the putter is used ON the green is it counted as a putt. Every "shot" taken with the putter from OFF the green is included in your short game stats; it is NOT counted as a putt.

I really don't care about 2nd shots on par 5s being positional. I generally know my club distances and don't need the data accumulated by Shot Scope on par 5s to tell me that. The way I do it is if my 2nd shot on a par 5 leaves me with more than 50 yards, I mark it positional. If I have less than 50 yards to the hole, then I was going for the green and do not mark it positional. Hopefully, they will eventually come up with a new shot type that is included in club distances but not included in approach stats to please everyone.
