What's the worst performing equipment in Golf?

What's the worst performing and least functional gear in the game today? Golf carts? Socks? The legs on a carry bag? What's the thing that feels like stubbing your toe every time you use it? Surely there's a better way!

This one may sounds stupid or not as relevant, however important to me is good shoes. Cheaper shoes that don't have great comfort, fit and waterproofness are top of my list.

Good socks and comfortable, grippy, waterproof shoes are the foundation (pun intended) to a good round.

That said, the worst performing item might well be the spring loaded divot repair tools that seem to enjoy opening in your pocket at the most inopportune times.

I have the unique ability to make anything from driver, to putter, golf bag, golf cart, golf tee, golf ball, shoes, socks, rain gear, golf gloves, range finders, gps devices, ball markers, golf bag and divot tools perform poorly at the most inopportune times.

This is extremely niche but the umbrella holder on my push cart. I can't make it high enough so I can stand under the umbrella, it doesn't have enough grip for even the slightest wind and is overall just a waste of space. It is the standard umbrella holder that comes on the TGW pushcart (which is an awesome, inexpensive pushcart for all other aspects).

I have 3 different types of shoes for that reason. The ones I enjoy more often are the Nike Air Max 90G, they aren't too breathable because of the water resistant material, but they are great until you get north of 90 degrees out and they keep out the early morning dew if you are hitting the course early. I have a hot weather pair and a wet weather pair.

I'd always wondered about that seeing people with them, I would have the same issue.

I had to same issue. Went to Lowe's and bought some short pieces of pvc and made an extender. See attached photo.

My buddy’s ball marker. Based on where he replaces his ball, it must move 3-4 inches backward between the time he puts it down and his turn on the green.

@GolfSpy_APH In my opinion, it's a NO. Because, under Rule 20 -1 it is necessary to physically mark the position of the ball. Moreover, no golfer can be penalized for this.

Many casual rounds golfers don't mark balls so no need to go into the rules on this one.

My question was does it count as equipment and if it does I would nominate it as they are big and can cause just as many issues as just leaving a ball down.

Yes it counts... but it is only the worst performing equipment for your fellow golfers that have to look at the hubcap on the green and try to putt around them..... haha.  But for the golfer that placed it... works great

Add 3 loves to this one. Used them for a bit and went right back to the wood. Although I use plastic for irons….little stubbies.

I will add in ball retriever even though I carry one lol. If I am retrieving balls out of the water it’s for the kids not me!

On the average course plastic tees, even the "good" ones absolutely don't work in the southeast US in the middle of summer. 

At least the ball retriever works in all conditions

I love my plastic tees in the Winter, Spring Summer or Fall (hey could be a song ) - Love the Martini Tees, they last.  Found I don't go through as many tees as I used to. Matter of fact, I used one Martini Tee for almost 5 yrs before it finally cracked and broke, while playing in Vegas.

I don’t mean to get all serious, but can we talk about the 64° wedge for a moment? There’ll be 2 or 3 guys that chime in with “best club ever made” or “absolute scorecard saver”. Those people are 15 handicappers that hit it well once. The 64° might underperform expectations more than any club I can think of that’s ever had a cameo in my bag!
