Good Friday Morning!!

Hope everyone's day gets off to a nice start! 

Mostly clear and coool here - temps went below 60 overnight!

Had a nice practice sesh yesterday .. my golf swing is finally, tho grudgingly, oh so slooowly and incrementally beginning to show glimmers of hope of evolving from "hit" to actual "swing" and actually moving through the ball!

Very excited about this and may get a chance to try to take it on course later .. my wife has a day off and wants to get out. Tonight we may hit up a show at a live music venue in town with with a fun band called The Pirate Beach Band that plays stuff from Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney.

K that's the big news from here, over and out golfing peoples!!

Playing another round a little later this morning, same group I played with yesterday. With fall here, days are shorter, weather can get to be an issue, so hope to get out whenever the opportunity allows.

Golf day! Haven't played in several weeks, so this is gonna be ugly. But it will be fun nonetheless. New course with a buddy who's a member. I did use the Shot Scope My Strategy to at least map out the course and first shots. So it won't be too much of the unknown. It'll just be nice to play again.

Well, I'm off. Everyone have an awesome day!!

Top of the pot and Happy Friday Spies .  We only have one foursome this morning at Cimarron as two of our regulars are recouping from minor surgeries and two others out of town.  We'll probably play the team pair format, with either longest & shortest or furthest left & right drives starting as a team through the first six holes.  Then rotate players for the next two six hole segments.

I received another vintage LP I purchased from eBay yesterday and despite the seller assuring me no skips, it has two .  Fortunately returns and shipping are free, so just my time running it to USPS.  So far 3 of the 4 I've purchased have been great, so that's not too bad considering the age of these.  

While playing it, I noted one of my speakers sounded a wee bit off.  Pulling the grille, I see that the foam surround has split.  I know these are a popular DIY project but I've also heard they can be a bit tricky... at least to get correct.  Anyone experienced with this hi-fi repair?

After play today, it's club clean-up time and arranging the bag for the trip to RTJ Trail next week .  As it stands now, this is going to include a "spy meet-up"... anyone care to guess who that is?

We’re staying at Natiivo on the 27th floor. Pretty view for sure! I’m a little more refreshed after our trip, got about 6 hours of sleep so that’s good! Looking forward to golf with @Josh Parker! Hope everyone has a great day!! I know we will! Happy Birdie Hunting!!!

Good morning! An emergent item came up at work, so my plans to golf today have been cancelled.  I’m most upset because the weather is unbelievably nice today and I’d much rather be outside! 

I signed up for the Phil Kenyon free 5 day putting course that @Cfhandyman posted about a couple of days ago. I can always get better with putting. 

Being a Cleveland sports fan living in Michigan, I’m very excited for the upcoming Tigers vs. Guardians ALDS playoff series! I’m currently trying to put a watch party together for game 1 tomorrow!

My auto insurance rates shot up 400 dollars a year when we moved down here permanently. No accidents or tickets, just because of the location and the menace on the roads known as snowbirds.

Good morning spies!

Up early with a hot cup reading through the site more thoroughly than I've had the time for recently. Busy is always good though, so no complaints on my end except it's back in the 80's here in Long Beach and I was digging the cooler weather a week ago. 

Tee time tonight with a couple buddies, catching 18 at Westchester near LAX. Night golf is always a good time and I'm breaking out my Pins & Aces Frankenstein polo

The 2nd shipment of Tour Striker Training Aids is supposed to arrive today via UPS and you can expect plenty of updates over in the testing thread so come join along!

Good morning spies! Wild Bunch on the short course today and playing there has convinced me to develop a useable fade on command. I can slice the crap out of the ball, but not on command. My normal ball flight is a draw to a draw/hook and it simply does not work on this course with all of the overhanging trees. 

The heat still has not broken down here. Looks like we will see 110+ for today and something similar all the way to Monday.

My work ethic was do it right the first time. I am not really a carpenter, but I think I could hit more than 2/3 of the studs. I equal that to changing the timing chain on an engine and not changing the oil and filter.

I started a thread in the lessons area of the forum earlier this week to let people know about the course.  Could be a good place for those that have signed up to discuss what is being presented in the course.  .

A little higher dollar place than I've stayed in on my trips to Austin, for sure...

True story: My first trip to Austin was accompanying our swimming team (which no longer exists) to the Southwest Conference (also defunct) championships. After the meet ended each night, my job was to call newspapers and TV stations back home and tell them how we did. Saturday night after the meet concluded, the swimmers went to a party. I wasn't invited and didn't particularly care if I was; I went back to the hotel and crashed. I was in the same room as the head coach, who was conspiring against me. Sometime around midnight he came back in and pretended to go to bed, which I was barely aware of. What I wasn't aware of is that he left the room door open, and a couple of girls who had been at the party burst in, jumped on the bed a few times, shouted my name and ran out of the room. I was barely awake and I don't remember what I might have said, but Coach thought it was hilarious.

The test is over. I plowed through four hours of test in three hours, and I took none of the scheduled breaks. As somebody once told me, if you don't know, you don't know, so don't waste time trying to figure them out. Now the waiting begins. It took about a week last time to get my scores. I feel better about it than I did after the June test; hope that means I passed. I need to find another 28 points this time, out of 800.

I might actually get to wear pants for a few minutes today.  Super weird.  It’s below 78° and I’m kind of cold.

Also, I just force feed myself around 7-10 minutes of my swing in slow motion…. What I’m feeling does not look anything like what I am doing.  I’ve always had an early extension, about a 15-20° curve in my upper spine that causes that I think, I can’t really side bend, if I was a lefty we would be looking like Victor or Trevino.  So I had to figure out how to make room… also, my shoulders are at least 20° open, giving me a little bit of a cast, but if I make them “square” or slightly closes I feel like a contortionist.  Work to do.

Just dug out my WhyGolf pressure plate and took it out in the back yard to work on my weight shift. Went back in to grab a club to swing. When I came back out, my cat Suzie was standing on the plate. I guess she's trying to avoid the reverse pivot too

ings are slowly improving. I'm reminded that the eastern part of the state got clobbered similarly by Florence in 2018, with extensive flooding and 54 deaths. The difference, I suppose, is that Florence didn't have mountains funneling all that water into the valleys where the people live. I didn't live in Wilmington yet, but if I had, I would have been cut off from the rest of the state by land.

 

My wife was in her Master's internship at New Hanover Hospital when that hit in 2018! Half of the roof off her rental house was ripped off while she thankfully evacuated

Hello everyone! 

First off I want to thank everyone here at MGS for the outpouring of support and sentiments for not just my family and I, but everyone in Western NC and surround states. It has truly been great just being able to get on the computer and chat with you all during this tragedy and get away from it for a few minutes.

Update: As of 1 hour ago, our house has power! I went over and checked everything out, got the old water-logged microwave out of the wall from the leaky exhaust vent, started dishes, bumped down the a/c, got the alarm system working, and enjoyed a room temp PBR on the back deck. The tree is also off the house! Times like these make you appreciate the little things we have grown to be so accustomed to having and has made my wife and I realize how much useless possessions we have in our home and plan to do a major clean out soon and see if there are things anyone else can use.

Yesterday and this morning, we went and gathered up 4 totes of baby girl clothes from newborn-1 year old that we had been hoarding from our 18-month-old and will re-buy everything if we ever have a second child and it is also a little girl. There are so many areas 30-45 minutes west of us that have nothing and if a single family can utilize these clothes, then that is all that matters. In addition to that, we cleaned out and donated 5 large trash bags full of hoodies, jackets, shirts, pants, etc. since there is a cold front expected to hit in the next week in some of the higher elevation areas. We also brought 25 gallons of water, diapers, wipes, baby and baby formula that will be distributed as well in the harder hit areas. Down the road from us, an entire neighborhood flooded and were able to assist in some clean up yesterday--we truly are fortunate. 

In happier news, I have been able to hit balls up in the in-laws garage and the local club expects to have 9 holes open for play this Monday! I cannot wait! I will be likely returning to work on Monday but will have to go check out the course to at least see the staff.  Again, a huge thanks to everyone for the thoughts and support. Hit 'em straight!
