berkeleybob
I’ve never tried BOA. I’d like to, but I usually buy what’s on sale and BOAs are hardly ever on sale in my size. Wicki
I had BOAs before. They are nice and lasted for a few seasons. They lasted for several seasons. I do own several pairs of golf shoes, so they can dry out. Never had an issue with the BOA system through the life of the shoe. I am not a fan that they cost more than regular shoes. To me the cost does not offset! With some of the designs, do not fit my feet where some of the guiding holes to help keep the laces in place. BOAs hold the shoe to form than laces do. Graham Jennings
Had both Skechers Twist Fit system and Footjoy BOA. Sketchers system was a bit lacking in the quality department, but I find their shoes more comfortable than most of the other brands. Probably will stick to laces with Sketchers in the future. Footjoy's BOA system is a lot better ( I have this on their Winter Boots) but not as comfortable over a full round so haven't used them as much. Depends on the quality of the BOA system, but I'm 60/40 in favour of laces from my experience Rob Person and RockerFCC 2 Quote Link to comment

EugeGall
I have both Footjoy Tour Alpha (about 14 months) in laces and boa and Adidas Codechaos (about 2 years+) in laces and boa. Come to think of it I have too many golf shoes, but that’s another story. Fit, tightness or whatever you want to call it are similar, but the boa is just simpler to use, especially mid round when I need to adjust just because my feet have got a bit off kilter (if that makes sense) - it’s a pop, pull, click and twist taking about 10 secs at most. MC3157
I have used and still have several pairs of FJ BOA shoes, a couple of pairs of Puma BOAs and they all worked well. The Puma system being on top of the shoe was a bit uncomfortable on my feet so quit using them. Over the last year I have switched to Sqairz shoes and now have 2 pair of those. They don't make a BOA version however their laces have little rubber nodules on them to prevent the laces from loosening up. One pair comes untied during the round and I usually have to retie them at least once during a round. I do like the comfort of Sqairz shoes though. So, at this time my BOA pairs sit in the garage for now. Joe S
I have used several FootJoys with BOA and currently wear Ecco shoes with BOA. I will never go back to traditional laces. boylerz1
I absolutely love my BOAs and greatly prefer them over laces. I like my shoes TIGHT and always feel like I struggle to maintain that tightness throughout the round with laces. I feel like I retie my shoes every 4-6 holes, but the same shoe with BOA I rarely adjust. Also, I had an excellent experience with BOA customer service. I have several pair of Footjoy DNAs with BOAs that have been well loved for several seasons. I had the back of the BOA system come out of one of the shoes recently and I thought they were going to be trashed. I contacted Footjoy and they said tough luck, because of the age and wear. I reached out to BOA directly and they sent me a replacement/repair kit free of charge. It was easy to install and the shoes are as good as new. MN Loon
I have Foot Joys with the BOA and find them superior to regular laces. The fit is more consistent from toe box to heel. golffun
I have used BOA for several years... I would never go back to laces. It's so much easier to adjust your shoes as the round goes on. For me, The shoes loosen up a bit as the round goes on and just a turn of the knob does the trick. INHO the extra money for them is definitely worth it. THANKS Rob Person 1 Quote Link to comment
azstu324
Like most here..once you go BOA you never go back! I'm a Puma shoe fan so I've been using their DISC version for the past few years. I have a few pairs that I rotate. Happy accident story: one weekend I washed all of my shoes in the washer (OK to do). I then put the first pair in the microwave on low to help dry (NOT ok to do with BOA (perfectly fine with regular laces)). The metal cables in the laces ended up sparking up and melting the plastic coating.. basically destroying the BOA system .. complete McFly moment. I was so mad at myself for ruining a nearly new pair. So then I took to the interwebs looking for tutorials on how to replace the laces and disassemble the DISC system. That was easy.. but finding a new set of BOA laces was proving to be tricky. Short story long, my wife has some thick fishing line for some craft stuff. I wanna say 80 or 100 lb test. This stuff worked marvelously! It's very strong, obviously water proof, and even has a little bit of elasticity for better comfort. In fact it's worked so well that I replaced the cables in my other shoes. So far 2 seasons with no issues. Just a good DIY hack if anybody needs to replace theirs and needs something that's easily available. They do sell black fishing line too.
