Had a driver fitting last month expecting to come away with the new Ping 430 10k Max driver. Have played Ping exclusively for many years. Walked out with the Mizuno ST Max instead. Numbers were just better. Have only played two rounds with it on course so jury is still out.

PXG Gen 5 set at 10.5 degrees

Doing the PXG challenge on Wednesday which they have doubled to $200.  I'm really going just to get the free fitting for the black ops as I'm in a PXG Gen 5 now.  It's set at 11.25° with a Mitsubishi Diamana 60 Stiff shaft.  I'm positive the new black ops will beat it as my swing has changed along with a speed increase.  Hopefully it'll work for me and I'll start gaming it in a little over a week.

It’s the Callaway Paradym that I got to re-test. So far I’ve gotten to play 8-12 rounds this year with it and it’s money! Thanks again MGS and @GolfSpy_APHfor that opportunity! Also check out my review in my signature if you don’t mind. Let me know what you think.

There was a golf expo where I tested new drivers. For me, following drivers earned their place in top3:

1. Qi10
2. AI Smoke
3. Darkspeed

I should get a fitting at some point but with just couple of shots Qi10 as 10.5 degrees with Kai'li blue 60 X shaft was just

Recently hit Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 8 degree at a golf expo and since it was not available at the site ended up ordering Paradym TD 8 deg from Cally preowned at half price. Ai Smoke was super fast compared to current gamer, Epic Mac LS, and "mishits" were super playable based on Trackman feedback. 

Tested Ventus TR black and blue 6X and got very similar results between. Current gamer shaft is Aldila Tour Green TX with a Oban black X as a backup. Need to identify better shaft for the head in bay before season starts.

Hopefully PTD offers similar performance to Ai Smoke or I have made a big dummy.

EDIT: Found a picture of Trackman numbers. Almost 10mph ball speed increas to my gamer, however not sure how overcalibrated the expo monitors are.

Just picked up a Callaway Paradym X on sale since my old driver was over 10 years old. Figured the technology has changed since then but my old Taylormade SLDR has done me well over the years. Excited to use it this year. I may look into getting a different shaft for it depending on how it treats me.

Keep us posted as I too would like to upgrade my driver. I play the Callaway Rogue ST (2022) and feel it is not as long. I am interested in the Paradym or the AI Smoke.

Really liking the Cobra Darkspeed LS the most so far, the Ai Smoke 3D is right behind it. Played the Paradym 3D last year, but the finishing cracked/chipped away, so they replaced with the Smoke!

I just went and hit the new Ping and it was amazing.  Avg 278 and 2300 spin rate, just could not get myself to fork out the $5 hondo, will stick with my Cobra LTD for this year

We have fitting days coming up for Callaway, Ping, Titleist and TM.  I really want to try the New Mizuno driver and fairway too.  I'm thinking I may go check out the Callaway stuff and find a Mizuno fitter before making the final choice.  Plan is for a new driver and 3W.

I just upgraded from Paradym to Smoke. Yes I know not a big change.  But for me a change in key area.

Off center hits!when I miss toe side I would get low spin uncontrollable hooks and heel side would spin too much and lose significant distance.

Now it is amazing how those shots hold their line finishing much closer to center and spin rates from lowest to highest is maybe 500 compared to over 1300 from before and the left right dispersion was tighter. 

Overall distance in a session was 6 yards carry 11 yards longer though good hits with each were no different.

 

So my answer is if you consistently strike center or near it no need to upgrade but otherwise average distance and dispersion is significantly better even over last year.

I agree with Canabuc, the biggest difference is on mishits staying playable.

So far I'm reaallllyy liking the Darkspeed LS. Hitting it so much straighter, no drop off in distance from last years Paradym... 

Just wish I would have gotten the 9* head, I think. Swapping shaft out hopefully this week, for one that is slightly softer in the tip.
