Played 36 today.. 8:20 and 12:50. What a day, ended with a 84 and 83. driver felt good as did the putter. Had issues with the longer irons which really screwed me. I was on a nice run in the beginning though where it was driver wedge every hole. Then came the long par 3 anddd no bueno

Hardcore! Good scores too!

Maybe look into some hybrids or cross-overs to play instead of the long irons...? Love my 3H and may get into a 4H or cross-over and ditch my 4i...

Played 9 this morning for ball testing. Course was empty when I started which was great for hitting multiple shots. Hit the ball fairly well. Glad I remembered what I learned at Myrtle Beach last month!

The forecast of 30mph winds and a couple of showers didn't really come to fruition. After watching a couple of groups hit off in horizontal hail and gusts up to 45 mph we decided discretion was a good course of action.

Went down to my club's range and played a round on the X Golf simulator. My mate picked Bethpage Black. Actually hit it ok once I got my head around playing indoors. Struggled with short game as it is so different to reality, but actually got a real sense of what my swing was doing on full swings. Was 8 over after 3, finished 17 over but had a lot of fun and a few beers.

Much better than getting out in the wind and rain.

Well I have a 3 hybrid and I love it. So may not be a bad idea. And what do you mean crossover?

I haven't hit one yet myself, but I am intrigued... They are effectively a cross between a hybrid and an iron-think "chunky" iron really.

Here's a link to the PING website that describes them..

Shot 76 and prolly shoulda been 66.

I apologize to anyone I just subjected to reading that. But I had to get it out of my system and I hate being that guy that breaks down every shot of his round to his buddies when you see them in the clubhouse after.

... Better than the guy that responds in as much or more detail when the kid with a dirty rag wants a tip for "cleaning" your clubs and asks "How did you play?" A guy I played with at an outing corned the kid and after we went inside, washed our hands and talked about where we wanted to go to dinner and was still describing his round to the kid even though he was working on clubs from a group 3 or 4 foursomes behind us LOL.

... On that 5 day outing another guy had to share a cart with him a second time on the last day and offered the two of us in the other cart $25 to change places and ride with the motor mouth and the guy with me said "Not for $25 but I'll do it for $50". The words had barely left his mouth when the guy pulled out his wallet and handed him two 20's and a 10. After about 5 holes he came to our cart and said "you can have your money back, it ain't worth $50" as we laughed and pulled away.

You'll be around 80 in no time

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

It's been an up and down start of the season for me. Went to Pinehurst last weekend and played talamore and Dormie incredibly well for my first rounds of the season shooting mid-80s, then midsouth and tobacco road, which I didn't play so well. Swing is definitely coming in sooner so with the cobra connect clubs coming, I expect to shot low 80's high 70s soon 😁

40-40. Has a couple shots tat cost me today. Also had a bunch of putts burn the edges, the greens aren't quite there yet. Couple weeks they'll be really good. I had about 3 shots today that just went left, I know its the lie on the heads, so I went and had them “fixed” to some better specs, 2 up. That should help get them back to the right a little.

Probably belongs in the rant thread, but today on the course I could do no right..! Got to our club early enough to hit a bucket and was very happy with the look and feel of everything. Hit the chipping green and was "ok" and same with putting. Generally was happy and loose going in.

First tee...toed directly right and then nothing worked all round except for the occasional chip or pitch. Otherwise a crap round that I go ZERO positive data from at all. VERRRRY frustrated, a little pissed and mostly humbled...

Fine.

I'll try again next week after some more practice...Hope to have a more positive report then-CHEERS ALL!

My first 18 hole round after surgery, and I did it after 4.5 hours at TFT with the kids. So I guess I'm not surprised that I went 40-44, playing the last six holes in +7. I just flat-out ran out of gas. I'll write up the Arccos experience and post it in the Cobra Connect thread later - gotta get some sleep.

If you are playing in the same wind we have 300 miles up I-84, then I am not surprised.  Brutal up here.

Today, my wife and I played with my Dodge dealer service manager.  He usually plays fairly decent but I think the wind got to him today; multiple triples and quads!!  I struggled early to a front nine 46 because well, it was 7:30am, cold and windy.  By the turn the sun came out and I warmed up but it was still windy.  I managed a 39 on the back nine for a round of 85 that included a double bogey on #18.

Tomorrow we tee off at 9:30am... Oh yeah, it's supposed to rain around the back nine.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Thanks Rick, fortunately I didn't need surgery. Just a lot of rest and a few pain killers!

Still, back pain is difficult on your swing. Careful!

Thanks mate, we are coming into Winter here so I will be taking it easy. Looking to get fit rather than tons of after work practice.

Wondering if I have a similar issue...
