Re-Shafting 2iron

Hi all, 

I'm considering re-shafting my Srixon ZX (2021) 2i 18*. I've had it out of my bag for about a year since I went through a full bag fitting where I was fit for a Ping G425 3 Hybrid and moved from stiff to xstiff shafts. I put the 2iron back in the bag recently and immediately noticed that it's spinning too much for me to use. Is it worth it to order a shaft from somewhere or should I just order a whole new 2i?

Unless you moved from stiff to x stiff in the same shaft in the hybrid is almost irrelevant because there’s no industry standard for flex and even from the same manufacturer stiffness is only relevant in an individual shaft line and weight class.

As for the 2i what’s causing the high spin?

is it too much dynamic loft? 

Ball hitting to high on the face?

Is it the VCOG being in the wrong place for your swing?

based on handicap I would imagine you have decent face control and probably path control.

The shaft has a role in dynamic loft so if its a dynamic loft issue a shaft change could fix it, but what shaft change is needed is hard to say because it’s going to depend on how the shaft feels for you and the balance of the shaft with head pairing.

It could be head design which then a new 2i would be the better route.

Unfortunately saying which route to go is as much a guess for anyone here as it is for you
