How many balls do you carry?

Recommended Posts

I just went out and counted I have 8 in the bag that I will play and 4 found balls that go in the shag bag. I sometimes have more, but not often.

That's a great question. I know I just took about 10 or so out since i couldn't close a zipper. Maybe it's why I am struggling pushing my cart at times.

So I just went out and counted 23. I don't think I'm going to play the Nitro or Top Flite I found in my bag, so I'm thinking it's time to empty it out

When my wife asked if I wanted to leave Maine and move to where she grew up, I couldn't say no to Pinehurst, NC. I honestly don't spend much money on golf equipment, but I'm constantly reading reviews in case I ever get ready to buy

I swing left handed and have been the State of Maine Left Hander's champion since 1997, the last year they held the tournament. I'm currently a 7.1 handicap. Trying to get lower, but my gut gets in the way.

I usually carry nine golf balls when I play. I very rarely use more than three balls during a round but I like to have more than necessary rather than running out.

Playing golf is very important to me. I enjoy the integrity of the game!

I keep 2 sleeves in my bag plus whatever balls I find on the course.

usually empty out found balls into my practice ball bag or pass them on to my local First Tee program.

Always at least 12 and then somehow I accumulate half a dozen a round that I find and forget to take them out until the bag gets to heavy....but a clean bag starts with a dozen which would last me around 8-10 rounds if I didn't replenish or find any. Like someone else said, when i clean the bag, the found ones (most) go into a Rubbermaid container and get donated to local golf teams (Girls and boys). I occasionally keep a brand/model I'd like to try but was never going to buy a whole dozen. Last year found a Cut Red like new and played it for 3 rounds until I lost it. For a cheap ball, it played well.

I ride in a cart, but I will typically keep 6-9 new balls in my bag then 6 or so used, scuffed, found balls in my bag. If it's a rough round I might end up using some of those used balls or I keep them for random fun challenge shots if the course is clear enough to hit a second ball for fun. I typically will go through 3-6 in a round depending on how I am playing. I typically retire a few due to damage or OB lost balls.

I usually have two sleeves of new balls and about 4 "water" or slightly used balls.  Total is around 10 to 12 balls.

During play, I always have 2 extra balls in my pocket, cuz I have been known to pull 2 straight balls into the woods.
in my bag … This time of year with course conditions not good yet, I carry & play a bag full of found “leaf” balls from last fall. Scuffed or off brand doesn’t mater cuz the roughs are so high u can’t see a ball ur standing over, and greens still have a ton of top dressing. But once conditions improve, I’ll only play new/newer balls which lowers my bag ball volume to abt a dozen.

How many people carry crappy scuffed balls to hit into the woods or water when ur trying to loosen up on the course? (Non tournament / serious rounds)

Usually just have two sleeves of new balls and a few balls that were taken out of play for wear or scuffs. Never was one to carry a bunch in my bag and keep a dozen or two in my truck at any given time.

I carry 9 balls in my bag. It’s probably more a superstition than logic. Usually they are only one type - Callaway Chrome Soft X Dot.

I usually carry a dozen or so, and if they get too dinged up from errant shots I throw them in a bag to hit on the range.

Generally I carry between six and nine balls for play.  I might have a few used balls in my practice bag for when I do my chipping and putting.  But again for play it six to nine new balls.

I'm a 9 handicap and, for an 18 hole round at my home course, I'll carry around six balls typically.  (Note that I often carry my clubs, making the bag's overall weight an issue to manage.)  At an unfamiliar course and/or in a cart, another sleeve may be added.

I usually have my bags stocked with no more than 10 to 12 at any given time.  Probably a carryover from when I used to walk a lot, and wanted to keep the weight down.  I figure if I can't play 18 holes with that many, I'm in serious trouble...lol.  Now if I'm going on a multi-day golf trip or something like that, I'll usually go ahead and put another 10 to 12 in to make sure I don't need to buy any while on the trip.
