Workout for golf

I have decided to hit the gym to workout (I need to lose weight anyway    But I also need to increase my swing speed and make my body more flexible. 

Does anybody have a golf fitness routine that I can use?

Depends what is your age?

and fitness level? Gym access?

There's a lot out there, but you don't want to go 0-60

 

The common mistake people seem to make is doing traditional or main stream workouts that are more for aesthetics than functional strength.

Work on stretching for flexibility and increased range of motion.

BUT you need to do functional strengthening exercises so that your tendons and ligaments can be strong enough to handle repetitive motions that make up golf.

I would focus on stretching and flexibility exercises and not strength workouts.

If you are going hard to for golf fitness, there are a lot pf paid options. If you want something more generic, go with something that is strength training and works in some Yoga (pilates) as cross training to get flexibility.

Take a look at Roger Fredericks Flexibility and stretching program. Very good. Golf specific.
