  1. Good morning, everyone. Coffee isn’t in hand yet but it’s almost ready. I’m a pour over kind of guy so it takes a few minutes. I used to make it by the pot but I was dumping so much down the drain I went and bought one of those hot water pitchers and now make as much as the day demands. Also seems to taste better this way too. On a side note, be sure to tag your fellow spies if you enter any holiday giveaways on IG or Twitter (yes it’s twitter, not X). I tagged @Jnoble89 and now we both get gift cards to PGA Super Store! If you don’t know any fellow spies on IG, my handle is tripletdadne and now you also know Jasons’s ! Have a great hump day!

  2. This often ends up being the check in thread regardless of time! One of the best things about this thread in my mind. Was supposed to be a day off, but volunteer called in sick so back to work and now going on 32 days in a row... Ugh. However home now with the kids and hoping to have a productive day before we get our winter wonderland started!

  5. BRRRRRR! ITS 28⁰ here this morning, high of 44⁰ expected, same for tomorrow. All you northerners come get this weather back please! Got a round in yesterday, but was windy windy! Shot a 44 front, 49 back. The lochness monster jumped up and snagged those balls! But it was a great day none the less. DUNKIN coffee in the brewer, and ready to get the day going as soon as it breaks 35⁰. Honey do list is flexing itself today for me. With 10 xmas inflatables, of course she doesn't like the way they look from the road. So I'll be re-arranging them according to a diagram she drew up last night. Have a great day spies!

  6. Good morning Spies on this hump day of the work week. Last bitterly cold day this week, or so we are told, and I did get shipping information for the Stack System I have ordered. Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something golf related may be in your plans or thoughts.

  7. Good morning! Youngest just woke up way too early so it should make for an interesting day. Trying to finish out the year with a few closings and have the clients, just need to find the right houses. Looks like possible rain for the next couple days but this weekend may get to the low 70s. Have a great day everyone!

  8. I love everything about this post! I know @cnosil did a pretty good job of answering your question about multiple "meet ups" But I'll add my thoughts. What I (as the designated planner of the "official" events envision. I think "meetups" organized by any member in their local area for guys in that area or anyone that wants to travel to that area are great, and are highly encouraged by me and all the staff. I mean anytime you can get together with a guys you know and guys you will be meeting for the first time, it's awesome As for the two previous "official" events, our hope is to grow those to where they get larger attendance, and offer some things of value in addition to golf. What those things are will vary and hoepfully evolve over time. I'm actually surprised with the sharp eyed members we have here, that no one caught or called out the part of my previous posts where I said the 1st outing of 2024 I said that on purpose as while plans have not yet been announced for anything yet, our hope is to have 2 events in 2024 and possibly grow from there. But that's all down the road, plans for this event are still in the making and as I have said a few times, we hope to have some info soon.

  9. Good morning Spies! Happy Hump Day everybody. It was 17* when I woke up and it's currently 24*. I'm sitting at the doctor's office waiting to have blood drawn. I'm in shorts and a hoodie and getting a ton of funny looks. I walked into my garage and into the car. Then walked about 20 yards from my car into the doctor's office, which is very warm inside. No reason to bundle up, IMHO. But that's just me. Have a great day all! Sent from my SM-N986U1 using Tapatalk

  10. Good morning all! Second cup of coffee is about to hit the system to prep me for too many meetings today. I got an email from Mikey at TXG yesterday letting me know my Caley 01CBs that I won via their Instagram contest are on the way, which is awesome. I'll probably only be able to hit them on a sim for a little bit, but I'm excited to see how well I get along with them. Fingers crossed for a warm day where I can get them outside for a bucket or two.

  11. I think I’ve won 4 or 5 giveaways in 2023. Pair of FootJoy Hyperflex shoes, head covers from Cayce Golf and a driver cover from TPC Colorado and a polo shirt and pants from Travis Matthew from PGA Pappas. Never anything crazy like a set of clubs but still cool to win. Drives my kids nuts when they see me tagged as a winner. Much better this time to spread the joy to a fellow spy.

  12. Good morning spies! Late night last night leads to a slow morning this morning. Didn't get home until after 10:00 pm after officiating two varsity basketball games. Luckily, today is a short day at work, so hopefully, the tiredness arrays away. Halfway through the work week which means we are on the downhill side! I hope yall have a wonderful Wednesday!

  16. Good morning MGSpies from white wintery last falling snow for a few days WNY on this Wednesday hot coffee helping the surge into computer online navigating the network from basement command central, glad of the no-commute day with only wife and daughter to clear snow off vehicles and help them on their way when it is time. Yesterday's hot water heater issue required a complete replacement, turns out they aren't made anymore with repairable electronic parts so 10 years is life expectancy my friends and going rate around here is $1250 installed. On the plus side it might be 25F outside but the hot water is near scalding, careful dear Rob @rkj427 as soon as that warmth starts moving in would appreciate you sliding it my way quickly and no doubt @bens197 and @MattWillGolf will too as it slides past my neck of the woods. Hope golf of some kind is part of your day!

  17. Good morning Spies! It's a brisk 18* currently as we get moving on this wonderful Wednesday! The weather is supposed to get back into the upper 30s yet this week and maybe touch the low 40s even but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that. Was able to get a few putts in yesterday on the practice mat, which was nice. Hopefully I can get some more putts in today too. May each of you have a great day today!

  21. Good morning! Unexpectedly busy morning so far. I haven't even gotten around to having my coffee, but I'll get it after I post this. Today is recycle day at the house and the amount of cardboard we need to put in the recycle bin is mind blowing and makes me want to rethink all of our holiday purchases. Luckily, I didn't get any cardboard cuts from breaking them all down. @Preeway, @Jnoble89, @cnosil, @xOldBenKenobiX feel free to add me to IG giveaways also. I do them when I can so it'll be nice to not pester my families accounts with that stuff! My Instagram handle is jbern26.

  23. Final test for me today as well. ( we will get to why ) It was 44⁰ at 10 am tee time, I kept the 3 balls in 2 pockets the whole time to keep them warm. 9 am chipping and putting practice. Putting was very smooth, the practice green were just rolled, so they were definitely at the top of their speed ratings. Getting a feel for the greens and the balls only took a few strokes to adjust to them both. Again, as previously tested, these are very soft off the face. Could hear the click, but didnt really feel the ball. They rolled smooth, almost no hop or loping to them. Tested from 10' and 4' a few times. Then I tested alternating between these and some proV1's. A little more face feedback from Vs, almost like they were a bit denser than the Testers. (Could be the cover differences too I suppose) On to the chipping area. Here is where I struggled a bit. From off fringe bumps, the ball wanted to release faster, causing more roll out than I wanted. Even after adjusting for that possibility, it was very hit or miss on the stopping portion. Chipping/flopping from 10' to 30' away was a better result, but not ideal most times. Used a pw and a 9i. Most resulted in zero stopping ability. It just rolled and rolled. The 60⁰ from 20-30' away, with considerably more air under the ball, would hop and perform a short roll out past the hole, every time. Even tried to get it to zip back or check and stop. It just didn't happen. I played the 3 test balls almost the entire round. Back 2 back 2 back water hazard holes prevented me from closing my round with them. So I went back to the Callaway triple track for 17 and 18. I was impressed with the driving portion today though, as the lower ball flight kept me mostly under the winds wiley ways of pushing the ball around. There was a lack of distance of about 20 yards or better on average. The ball did track straighter too though 90% of the time. I usually drive 225-230. Was never past 200- 210 yards playing this ball. (The Callaway did land over 225 yards the last 2 holes. I will say after the few par 3s, one of the ball covers was spent. I hit those with a 7i and 8i, and the cover looked like a kid just bounced it off the sidewalk a few dozen times afterwards. Not good at inserting photos in the right spots, and I did take a few videos and will see if they will upload too. 20231128_095612.mp4 20231128_095312.mp4

  25. What’s going on everyone?! I’ve been reading MyGolfSpy for years and I’m just now joining the forum. I live in San Antonio and am married to a wonderful woman who is an Air Force officer. Since our lives are so unpredictable, I just walked away from my job and am a part-time student, full-time dad. I’m now going to the range several times a week at our local PGA SuperStore and am working through some physical therapy before I get out on the actual course around Christmas time. I can’t wait to get it on these testing contests as I have plenty of time to test as 1) I don’t work and 2) I live in south central Texas where we play year round. Here’s my WITB: Driver: PXG 0811XF 9º Stiff Irons: Wilson D7 4-GW Stiff Wedges: Cleveland CBX Gen 1 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Tommy Armour Impact No 3 (The one that won best mallet putter years ago) I love this putter. I bought it from Dick’s using my military discount years ago for $70. The story for all my clubs is that I wasn’t playing enough to devote time to practice, so I used MyGolfSpy to find the most forgiving clubs at a reasonable price. Now, after multiple health issues from my time in the Army, I’m working with a physical therapist, nutritionist, and kinesiologist to get my back and body in shape eating right and hitting the gym daily. I went to the range at PGA SuperStore today and was crushing my 7 iron with 189yd carry. Come spring, after the manufacturers release their new products I’ll be doing a full fitting.

  26. Good morning all on what feels like an almost warm 22 degrees after single digit temps yesterday . Have to thank @Preeway for tagging me in the IG giveaway that AZ golf association put on! I saw him mention earlier he's won a handful this year, as have I. So the IG giveaways are legit! I also saw @cnosil shared the tagging thread, so no need for me to share that again. I am also proof that big prizes can be won. I do not share this to brag, because it's been just a lucky year, but I have won a PX HZRDUS shaft, perfect practice putting mat, Scotty Cameron putter plus apparel and accessories from the company that did the giveaway and a Flightscope prize package that included a Mevo. Feel free to tag me for any giveaways you want. There's a pretty solid contingency of MGS forum members that are good about doing that as well. Hope everyone has a great day!

  27. ... Always been one of my gripes with posts about clubs that can work the ball. A good iron player can work a hybrid 7 iron without much more difficulty than a MB 7 iron. As others have stated, the modern ball really is designed to go higher and straighter, so working the ball is something you need to practice and see if it can be a benefit for you. But only if you are an excellent ball striker. I hit the ball pretty straight or with a slight draw. On a bad day it can be a bigger draw, so I don't work the ball to the left because it always has the capability to get away from me and turn into a hook. I will however work the ball to the right on occasion to a back right pin with no trouble. But even then I am not starting my shot 5 feet left and working it to the pin, I am stating it 15 feet right and working it toward the pin. If I pull it off as planned I will have a 8-10 footer for birdie. If I over do it I am working the ball close to the pin but that would be a missed shot. And to be clear all circumstances have to be in my favor to hit a fade to a back right pin including how well I am swinging that day, where I stand in my round and if it really is the best shot on that green. More often than not I am hitting my stock iron shot about 8 feet left and if it moves another few feet left I still have a 10-12' birdie putt. ... So you can work the ball if you have the skill, but for the vast majority it should be much rarer than playing your normal shot to the middle of the green, which most should be doing anyway. ... I always find iron choices interesting and something we don't see so much with other clubs. If someone has a slice and plays the Stealth 2 HD, you don't see them posting about whether or not they should switch the the Stealth 2+. Or playing a TSR1 hybrid and hitting it well so they are thinking it's time to "move up" to the TSR3. Irons are simply tools that allow you to swing your swing with the best results. Golf forums don't help nor do labels like "Players" irons. I play King Tour irons because they produce the best combination of trajectory, spin and forgiveness. If I hit the T350's better, I would not hesitate to switch to them. And as many others have already said, getting fit should be a must for anyone looking to maximize their swing. For more than a few it can be a real eye opener. I am playing a Stealth 2 HD and because my miss is an over cooked draw, I would have never even demoed the High Draw version but the fitter knew better and had me try it. I was shocked it produced the best results. He said the added spin helped me keep it in the air longer and I actually hit less of a draw than I did with my Sim Max.

  28. Thanks to an INCREDIBLY generous aunty and gramma (who, even though I'm only married into their family, insist on giving me xmas/bday presents each year), I've decided to take the plunge and buy a camera/gimbal combo that is CRAZY-well-reviewed (check out YouTube for some stunning stuff shot on this bad-boy). I've so enjoyed going out with my "big" camera, but haven't really been shooting much video, and thought this was the perfect little setup to start getting some great-looking footage with quality sound (I bought the package with the built-in mic receiver and wireless mic, so I can wear it and vlog while playing/walking). It doesn't ship until 12/10, but I'll be sure to be posting some more (too many?) videos shortly after getting it. It has auto-tracking, so I can actually set it up on a tripod and just walk around and it'll track me while I'm talking/moving, which I can see being ideal for a putting scenario where you're moving around the green, and because the mic is wireless and auto-connects, I don't have to be up close to it in order of you to hear me. I'm super, super excited to see what this thing can do!

  29. Good morning Spies and Happy Hump Day!! Today is Electronic Greetings Day (not kidding) so here goes….. “Hello World”. Done. Really cold here today but warming later in the week to something not frozen. So, I’ll try to get to the heated range to hit some balls. I’m going to try and take a pretty decent golf swing, mix in a bunch of new swing thoughts, and then combine that with off center strikes to see how that works. Or I might just try to incorporate 3 or 4 new techniques I saw on YouTube. That usually has the same result as the afore mentioned process. I did get some new Takomo wedges. I bought the 52 when I got the 101Ts and loved it. Picked up the 56 and 60. Compared to my other wedges, the bounce is really high (52/10, 56/12, 60/12). I tried them out last week for the first time, expecting to blade everything when opening them up and to my surprise, they were fine. Pretty smooth actually, even off of a mat. So, we will see once the courses dry in the summer and lies are pretty firm. Have a wonderful week all! Cheers

At lunch today I reached into my bag to pull out the sandwich I made last night only to pull out a identical container with an orange looking substance instead of a baggie with ham and cheese. I couldn't recall having any leftovers that looked like that and got a little worried. Fortunately, we have a hot bar in one of the break areas so I went over and picked up a couple of hot dogs. As far as what I brought, it was canned pumpkin that we have been using in a mix we have been feeding the dog. She had an upset stomach and my wife had had her in a bland diet of chicken, rice, and pumpkin. I get home and you know what my wife tells me we're doing for dinner? Hot dogs.

Follow up call this morning and still no answers. Cryptic call from cardiologist on Monday night may be telling as he did not expressly say that he would not clear me. Little disappointed. 35. All 8 are there! As others have said we there is another thread for the non milled testers. However to give a little background and reasoning as to why we do it this way. The reviews are long and in depth. When we have more than 4 reviews in a thread the reviews after the 4th see significant drop off in participation, views and reactions. This isn't fair to those testers that put in the work and effort for the reviews. The flip side is while same release time and similar technology there are very different putters and serve a different audience. Nothing against the white hot testers, but it is not a face I like or have really any interest in and I won't be chiming in there that much if at all. It is just a product that I don't want. The milled however has my attention. Splitting the threads and products like this will cater to our forum members in a more sensible way and allow readers to get to the information they want and avoid some of the clutter from the other putters. Hope that makes sense!

  36. I get to warm up next week. Unfortunately it’s work and my clubs aren’t making the trip. Fort Lauderdale, then to Orlando, then over to Tampa. Home for the weekend then thrown into the cold. Providence RI, Hartford CT and finishing up in Boston. That should wrap up my travel for the year(I hope). Might need to have some of Kenny’s or Jason’s chili to warm up after my New England trip. Brrrrr I don’t do cold any more.

  37. WOW, just wow… The people of Florida across the spectrum are just so nice, friendly, and generous. Got a police escort to the airport, ultra VIP rental car return and flight check-in ( I never knew that there was such a service. Everyone involved was more than determined that we made our flight in plenty of time and that the flight was given top priority for take off… Just the best of the best people. Was a tad disappointed that no one invited us to ever come back to Florida. Back in Texas and headed for her highness’s dark kingdom. May the rest of the mid-week be to your liking.

  38. After 10 days with no golf, I took advantage of a warm day and hit the course. It was an effort to walk 18 holes having the waning stages of the creeping crud, but it was definitely enjoyable to get out and play. This cartoon reminds me of the movie Misery.

  39. Not fixing ball marks on the green bothers me the most. Having a putt go off line due to a ball mark is unacceptable. Fairways are much larger and your odds of being in one are less. However they both should be fixed.

  45. These trips are addicting, or at least habit forming, once you start going to them you cannot imagine not being at the next one. Would like to see more members both gentlemen and the ladies, and the youngsters who have already been a part of the experience and fit in well. A parent should be aware that the majority of us will be without youngsters and the tendency is for adult conversation in my experience, though the group was mindful and considerate. That said, if my 22yo son was to accompany me I would be proud to have him come along for the experience. My $0.02

    Which is worse?

Which do you think is worse? Not fixing ball marks on the green or not replacing divots in the fairway? I am continually perplexed at the number of unfixed ball marks on greens. I make it a practice to fix mine and look for another one to fix. If one cannot take 15 seconds to fix their ball mark on the green that inconsiderate person should not be allowed to play.

  49. The various meetups have been fairly regional in nature. I think there has been some in the PNW, FL, and Ohio regions as well as the three mid Atlantic ones. There hasn’t been any limitation on who attends any outing. The last mid Atlantic one at Pinehurst had people from outside the mid Atlantic region; I think as far as Denver? All that is needed is someone to do the legwork and set things up, which is easier said than done. Lots of people say they are interested and will attend until the money needs to be collected. that said, the Maryland and Pinehurst outings have been a little more “official” than the others. I only say that because MGS provided some giveaways for the attendees and they have been multiple day events.
