The teaching pro at our club, Brad Luebchow has his own golf brand, Chowder Golf. I grabbed a hat after my lesson this morning.

My local golf retailer, Golf Headquarters, is having a tent sale this weekend where they pass out a packet of tickets with each purchase that are good for a free round of golf at a dozen different courses in the surrounding small towns with purchase of a cart the day of play. Gives me an excuse to stop in a buy something that I need anyways and maybe find a deal.

Stopped in with my wife this morning in search of a 6 hybrid for her as well as shoes and possibly some Vice Pro balls for me. Wife found a sweet deal on a brand new Cobra RadSpeed 6 hybrid w/ Recoil ESX shaft for $100.

I failed to find shoes and no deals were had on Vice balls however, they had two boxes of TP5 my symbols for $40 each which I decided would fit my needs just fine.

Two deals, two ticket books, and now I have plenty of excuses to get her out on course to keep learning the game.

This is only the second putter I've ever had. It's pretty nice though. Might keep it around for a while.

Kind of a birthday present and a "good work" gift too.

Evidently I've been using the wrong flat stick for my stroke. The SAM device says it should be face balanced. So be it.

Had a nice little session today with it in the putting green. Quite like it.

Is there a secret handshake or something?

I got a bunch of stuff recently. Most Importantly, I got a Hydraulic shaft Puller for my graphite shafts. 

 

Which gave me a bunch of nice shafts to repurpose. 

Being the fan of JDM stuff and uncommon brands, I found a Yamaha 3 w, 5 w 17*, and a Yonex 7w head for 120 all 3.

So Popped some of the shafts I cleanly pulled in there and Built these.

 

Ok the 3 wood is the most forgiving 3w I used in a very long time. I swung as hard as I could and it was just long on high. 240 carry which is 10-15 longer than usual. I was able to eagle a par 5 today as I landed it by the pin 246 out. Evenflow Green

The 17 degree 5 wood also, being strong lofted and both of these having a large flat head, is as long as a typical 4 wood and gives me confidence and 20 less yards on average. Recoil shaft. Great choice for carrying just 1 FW wood.

The Yonex is an intersting one. Being that I have the Maltby Hyway and played the Apex Utility wood, this is pretty much the same shape but with a deeper face. So it has a head the size of a large hybrid but plays just like the Apex UW. 41" Prolaunch red was used and I preferr it to my Srixon ZX 7 wood.  Just so easy and also great for low bumps outta trees. 

I gotta do something about all these fw woods but the 3w is in the bag no question. It also happens to have a $500 retail....sheesh. Got the head and headcover for 70

EDIT:  I see you addressed this point. Is it still your opinion that the BRNR can replace a 3W?

I think you will like them @ILMgolfnut.  IMO the best I have ever had. The stability is crazy.

@IndyBonzo I am playing this as my three wood at 13.5*. I generally play a deep faced 3 wood or a mini diver in that spot and have for the last several years. I have zero issue pulling this club and hitting it off the deck into say a par 5. Only got to do it once yesterday and had no issue at all. Ended up just short of the green in the middle of the run up area.

Booked more lessons with the pro who did my iron fitting a few months ago. Feeling way more confident over the ball with an iron in hand, but driver is still a roller coaster for me .

Have been tinkering some with shafts/lengths to some success, but not quite repeatable yet. Think it’s time to call in the professionals…

ALERT ALERT, my local DicksSportingGoods has a dump bin of head covers for 5.00, Callaway rogue drivers for 200 taylormade drivers 229, My golfing partner found them today, I dont see them on line. Might be worth a trip to your local DicksSportGoods to check if they are having the same deals.

He got four Ping putter covers, some Epic driver and fairway wood covers. Said they had a bunch left.

Nice find! Fairway woods in the sale too? Guessing they would be, given they are all past models. I feel a little stop at the local Dick's might be in order on the way back from the office tomorrow...

Have been using this form to track stats for a while now, just bought some more as I’ve gone through what I’ve had.  Use this during the round and then have an overall spreadsheet to track history.

When I was in Florida in April my wife got me a Vessel bag from the shop at Disney Magnolia. Had it dining room before I played on Saturday and my wife and daughters decided I needed new headcovers so I now have new head covers from Pins and Aces. Driver is the American Flag, three wood has flamingos and five wood is the Gadsden Flag. Each of the ladies picked a cover and think they did well.

Thanks, looking forward to getting it on the course. I was playing a Ping Prime Tyne 4. Nothing wrong with that putter, it actually gave me a couple solid rounds last week while I was visiting South Carolina. But the feel and style of this DF3 are tough to compete with. Also, L.A.B.’s pistol grip is the most natural feeling putter grip I’ve ever put my hands on.

I like it a lot, very functional and high quality. I don’t carry anymore but it seems it would be fine for me if I did. The bag I have is the stand bag from the Vessel and TM collaboration. The only reason my wife picked it was because it has Grumpy on the side pocket. Overall seems like a solid bag that should last several years at least.

Good buy! These are my go to shoes on the course right now. Super comfortable and great traction.
