At $699.99, this isn’t likely to make it to “What have you bought lately?” but,

This is ridiculous, how good this club looks:

The triple diamond in night mode may haunt my dreams for a bit, or at least until I stumble upon my next infatuation…

I’m a huge Titleist TSR3 fan, bought one the day it was released, but this is about as good a driver design (aesthetically) as I’ve ever seen. Knew it was coming the day I saw the blue, but damn. Just like when Ian went with the all-black Stealth.

... I am not one to change putters very often. The last 3 years have been an exception after moving from Bent greens to Bermuda greens. I had very good success with a Cleveland 11S mallet and have thought about a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5. Playing my Bobby Grace 6330, Nike B1/07 and current Cobra Sport 60 all with different roles technology inserts, it is pretty clear roll technology helps on grainy afternoon Bermuda greens.

... So I have been intrigued by the Evnroll EV 5.1 with an inline slant hosel and their legendary roll technology face. But here is the real kicker, they offer a custom version with max toe hang and no sight lines for an additional $50. Pretty expensive to not do something as it is blank before adding the sight lines but it just looks so good and seems like a combination of exactly what I want in a putter. $469 is pretty steep for a putter, but if it truly is the combination I am looking for, it is a price I am (gulp) willing to pay.

... Unfortunately I do not. I went to a free putter fitting using SAM and the guy refused to consider loft. 🙄  But I do need to take them in and have them measured since I use a forward press and deloft my putter ever so slightly.

Just wondering because I think the loft is more important to focus on over the face technology unless you miss the center by a lot.

... I have found on Bermuda greens a roll technology face insert gets the ball rolling much quicker. I know Evnroll's face corrects heel and toe strikes but unlike my driver, I am usually pretty dead center with my putts. I have not heard if it starts the ball rolling sooner like my Bobby Grace.

For any lefties out there looking for a cheap 3W, 2ndswing has a pretty good deal right now. Use code “Lefty15” to get these for just under $30. I believe they have the M6 models as well.

I think that is more loft driven that face technology driven.  Balls generally skid for about 10% of the putts distance no matter the technology.  The goal is to avoid backspin which is why loft is important.

My concern for you with the EvnRoll would be the slower ball speed off the center of the face;  I think that wouldn't be something that a feel player would want.

... Thanks. I know they all skid, but in theory roll face tech produces topspin as opposed to backspin so they should start rolling sooner. I have always liked putters with a roll face insert. I am not worried about a slower ball speed in the center as long as it is consistent because I can quickly adjust to most any speed. Feel is a little different and a hard feeling/sounding face won't work for me but a medium to soft face is fine. It is so rare to find a putter with zero alignment aids, unless it is a Tour Cameron for $2500 or more. Bettinardi offered a custom putter that was $2,000. To be honest, I am not sure any putter that fits my style will make much of, if any difference as putting has always been the strength of my game and that never waivers. I have never changed anything with my putting stroke, something I wish I could say about my swing.

... Thanks but I am pretty particular about looks when it comes to putters. I like the HB 11S because it has short, wide angled in flanges and I don't care for the longer straighter wings on most. One of the reason I like the look of the Cameron 5.5 and the Evnroll 5.1  and as I have said before most everyone align their putters horizontally or vertically. So basically you align your putter perpendicular by the top line straight back using an alignment aid. I align horizontally and why I would be willing to pay an extra $50 to remove the alignment line.

I've always relied on a sight line, but this s70 TAiii putter with the dot I found to be eye catching.

An adjustable hybrid as my 4i is keeping its seat warm to be eliminated

I have a love hate relationship with hybrids as of now and my set starts at 5 iron, I live in a rural area and even when I drove to Nashville the availability of non Stiff or worse utility irons were ZERO to try so I took a chance and used my veterans discount and ordered a TaylorMade DHY 4 utility iron with a high launch/high flight shaft to use as a easier to hit replacement for a 4 iron, I have not been on a launch monitor but judging by shots on the course I may have been better off getting the DHY5 as the DHY 4 seems to leave a gap between the 5 iron. Other than that I regret nothing after the 1st 2 month. Forget the stigma of driving iron the bigger headed utility irons like the TM DHY and Titlist U510 are more of a SUPER DUPER game improvement iron when you look at a high loft version with a shaft made to get the ball up in the air and stop on the green versus total distance.

I hear ya. Just found a gapr mid on 2nd Swing that would fit that bill. Just still worry about it vs a hybrid vs even a 9w, which god forbid i can find in a stiff

The Gapr I have seen on ebay are occasionally pretty cheap so you should get most if not all your money back if you decide not to keep it .

I want to.

I really want to.

But I can't. I can't do it with the hybrids. I've had several. Some that were highly rated. But every time I have in my head that it's going to hook left and to avoid that I sometimes end up leaving the face open and it goes right. I don't know what it is but there is a mental block there that I can't get over.

I think I'm going to try a 7W; found a TSi1 that fits the bill.

... Thanks Doug but at $469 you are not helping! 🤣

It’s true that you can’t take money with you when your time is up, but you can take a putter.  And sight lines would be totally unnecessary.

Started the second phase of my fitting.  Mizuno JPX923’s irons (6-GW) still on order and counting down hopefully the last 2 1/2 weeks.  Today focused on hybrids and woods.  Previously borrowed from my club demo Paradym 4h and 5w.  Just couldn’t get a good feel for the hybrid but did well with the 5w.

Today back with the fitter.  Did better with the Paradym 4h but wasn’t getting the desired height/trajectory, and soso with the Paradym 7w and 5w.

Switched to Ping 430.  Did better with a 5h but then switched to the 430 HL.  What a difference in height.  Then tried a 430 HL 9w.  The results looked very comparable.  Very light clubs but very easy to swing.  Then hit a 7 and 5w HL.  Overall results looked and belt very good.  Only caveat, that was this morning, and  something was off a bit with my swing.  But the fitter gave me for the next 5 days the Ping 5h, 9w (with particular instruction to compare the 2), 7w and 5w.

Ate lunch then went to the range.  Hit all extremely well (with another caveat) and the swing was generally very good.  I had some flags to shoot at and was hitting into a moderate head wind.  Into the winds I was carrying 5h approx 160 and the 9w 170.  Excellent trajectory with both.  I’m thinking I’ll carry my new 6i about 160ish (carried the 7i 150-153).  Then hit the 7w and 5w, with carries approx low 180s  and 195ish+/- respectively.  Actual with 7 and 5  hard to asses because of the flag was behind a mound and hard to measure.  No question they are great clubs.

The caveat, the HL version are extremely light.  I have a tendency to occasionally pull, but those are generally OTT type pulls.  Today, a number of shots with all clubs were some pulls but didn’t feel like OTT.  I just felt too fast and getting through the transition too quick.  Way too quick.  The good news, I have several days to adapt.  Alternatively, this morning was just a mediocre swing which was much better this afternoon,  and maybe don’t need the HL version.

Regardless, Ping woods in my future.

was browsing 2nd swing golf and saw several U510 Titleist utility irons used for 150 or so dollars , one of those with a high launch shaft is a viable option in my opinion but im just a struggling golfer myself lol.
