Honestly feels like it wants to go only straight. I was always in the category of why hit 3 wood when it's not that much straighter than my driver anyways; but this one feels like it actually fits the mold of fairway finder. Haven't had extensive use off the deck yet to grade it in that aspect. It's also far better looking than the website and feels spectacular; hearkens back to some of the callaway xhot fairways in terms of sound and feel: very much that muted "wood" like feel and "thwack" sound, alternative to tinnier metal on the other side of the spectrum. Also doesn't hurt when, after an upcharge shaft, it's still 50$ cheaper than the big guys. I just purchased the 3 wood after having test the 5 wood earlier this year. It has become my go to club of the tee /fairway. Hoping the 3wood will permorm the same way. heavygolffeels
Just dropping off a positive review for Jason at Sub70. I had email some questions about a very specific driving iron build that I had in mind, and he called me back same day on the cell phone. Talked to me for 20 minutes, answered every question I had, and ultimately had me going in a different direction as they couldnt achieve the specs I was going for. He pretty much knew that when he called, but wanted to take the time to explain everything. I appreciate that honesty and service. I was trying to give him some business, but I'll be back. I put together a combo set --A thru 8 699Pro, 7-4 699... I am very happy, but if I were to order a set today I would likely go Pro for the whole set for no particular reason really. I really hit the Pro's well--not sure if I hit the Pro's well or if I just hit the shorter iron's better--LOL. I really don't think you can go wrong either way. I know Sub70 recommended the combo set to me ( it was appropriate given my limited experience ) and likely has helped. Next set I buy when I am a little more accomplished is likely to be some other combo set---thinking 659 TC/CB's in black would be nice. The finish looks good, especially at first, but I have a little bit of an adjustment period coming from my black Vokey's. Vokey is lighter black, like charcoal, compared to the Sub 70 which is pretty standard black. I've had my JB 58* for a little over a season and it is very much my go to around the green and 60 yards and in. I try not to swing a full wedge if I don't have to. The finish is definitely wearing away on the face on the lower half. It is wearing away on the sole some also. I use it at the range and in bunkers so it is pretty well used. The face almost looks like a raw finish in the spots that are "exposed" now. But there is no rust - mostly just metal coming through the black finish. Digiburdie
I bought a Sub70 putter for my son who wanted to try out a center-shafted wide blade. The quality of this putter is way above what I expected for the price. I haven't tried their other clubs, just the putter, but so far I'm very very impressed and would go to them for other items. As a lefty I appreciate the Left-handed options also. Not all of these smaller DTC brands have LH options. So kudos to them. I ordered it hoping it would make it in time for my trip to Oregon this week and it is here, thank you Sub70. It looks a as good as advertised. The grooves look great and the initial feel and sound around the house are great. Can't wait to try it out. Look great! scubahoops
So far I am very happy with it. It has a good feel. I am happy with the spin that it generates even when it is wet. I played 3 rounds in the rain and one when it was dry and it felt good and responded well in both conditions. I have to say that I have a little more confidence with it because I like it and love the way it looks, it may sound a little silly but I just feel good with it. The sand play was a bit of a challenge but I wouldn't say that was the fault of the club. I am used to very different sand and I am not great out of the sand anyway so I was not as successful as I would have liked, but when I played the sand correctly the club did its job. My brother and nephews were impressed with the looks as well. Overall I am happy with the club and I love having something so good looking and unique in my bag. Thanks for the feedback and good to hear. I don't need wedges but wouldn't mind having a 54 and 58 in these. in case anyone is feeling particularly charitable.... LOL. Honestly--they look the part and likely play the role and would love to be Sub70 exclusively as far as the wedges and irons go. 202, GolfSub70 and GolfSpy SAM 3 Quote Driver-- TSr 3 -9* (B1) -Fujikura Ventus TR Black 6-X Fairway - - G430Max 15*-Flat, 3 Wood -Fujikura Ventus TR Red 7-X Fairway - - G430MAX 20* (-1, flat) 7 Wood Tour 2.0 Chrome stiff Hybrid - - G430MAX 3 Hybrid (-1, Flat) Alta CB Stiff (looking for a new shaft) UDI- - iCrossover Utility Driving 3 iron (18*, flat) Project X RDX Red 6.5 sometimes -699 Pro 4 -22* Driving Iron UST Proforce V2 Stiff Irons- - ZX4 MK II 5-7, Srixon ZX5 8-P Nippon Pro Modus 3 Tour 105 X-Stiff Wedges- - RTX Zip Core 50*, 54* Nippon Modus 3 Wedge, 58* True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Putter- - ER5v Short Slant Ball- Bridgestone Tour B X Bag- Hoofer Stand Bag Clic Gear 4.0 push cart
DaveP043
I was one of the MGS testers for the Sub70 Fairway woods last year, and remain very impressed with the 5-wood I tested. I'm considering changing out my 5-year old driver, and have just ordered a Sub70 849 Pro driver through their demo program. I'll have 10 days or so to evaluate the club. If I send it back, the total cost to me will be $20, if I keep it its just $200. I haven't read this whole thread, and haven't heard a lot about their drivers, so I'll so my best to report back my impressions. BH18
I have a couple of their wedges, which I love. So when my driver broke, I decided I'm going to give the 849D a try. I have one on order, and am (impatiently) waiting for it to be built and delivered. Can't wait to try it out. Golfspy_CG2
Hey @GolfSub70 We are hosting a demo day at our course in a few weeks, from what I understand one of the first in the entire area to do so. We'[re excited abou tit. Just in the two days since it's been announced on our FB page, I have had more people ask me "What is the Sub 70 all about" in that time than I have in 5 years. So that's exciting, to be able to share the store with them. And to help promote and build the hype around it I figured why not go ahead and orde my very first "senior age appropriate driver" LOL.....Looking forward to putting this to the test in my CG2 Driver Shootout thread.
