I recently saw a stat in the most recent tournament that a player was going on 50 holes without a bogey.  Fifty!

That got me wondering if any of you have done something like this - as well as how many birdies you've had.

Never bogeyless lol (I’ve gone no bogeys but plenty of doubles does that count? Lol) 50 is impressive I would be happy with 9 holes without one lol

I don’t have a bogey free round. I have made 9 birdies in a round at least 3 times maybe 4. 9 birdies 2 bogeys is my PR. But the one that fits exactly with the title is I shot -1 with 1 par. Yep 9 birdies, 8 bogeys and lone par. 🤣🤣

So yeah 50 is mind boggling to me.

I either have more than a few bogeys, or have a couple of doubles or triples, so I have gone 18 with no bogeys but doubles and triples galore.

I can’t remember, so my answers were best guesses. My low round was 39-34 for 73, but that was 45 years ago. My next best round is 77, several times, never shot a 74-75-76. I shoot a 79 about once a year.

I am actually really surprised at how high the percentage is for "No" on the bogey free round I would have thought closer to like an 80%

The vast majority of amateur golfers don’t break 100 and the average handicap for men is above 15. Would be very hard for 80% to have a bogey free round.

Last year on LPGA, Jin Young Ko went 114 holes without a bogey, which is a record.  Tiger went 110 holes w/o bogey in 2000.  For birdie streaks, a few have had 8 in a row, but most memorable is Streelman's 7 in a row to win the 2014 Travelers, or Schwartzel's 4 in a row to win the 2011 Masters

I haven't measured it over multiple rounds but have gone bogey free a couple of times on 18.  I have had 5 birdies in a row once, and then this past Saturday had a birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie 4 hole stretch (bookended by doubles).

Not to hijack the thread that I started (LOL) but honestly, I get much more out of watching LPGA players then I do PGA guys. They are extremely technically sound and so so efficient.

Anyway - those numbers don't surprise me...the pros on the LPGA are like expert shooters.

Never a bogey free round. Twice I’ve gone birdie, par, birdie, birdie, birdie. With that being my maximum birdies in a round.

I’ve had 7 pars in a row before that I remember, but only been under par on 2 9 hole rounds.

Yeah numbers aren’t in the favor of amateur golfers to do that. Even as an 8-10 cap I haven’t had a bogey free round. Closest I came was a 2 over round in 2018.

I'm lucky to average a birdie per month, although I had two at the MGS outing last Sunday so I assume I won't have another until September.

If I ever had a bogey-free round it is because they were all doubles+.

Bogies are my goal!!!  😂  I’d be super stoked to have nothing higher than a bogey sometime.  Seriously though, as much as I love getting pars and the rare birdie (gets me all sorts of worked up 🤣), my game is happy with bogies for the time being.

I think I've shot 1-2 over on 9 before. That's about the best I can do. I've had 2-3 rounds where I've had 3 birdies and 3-4 others. Those rounds are frustrating where you play really well on some holes and play like a turd on others.

I think my biggest achievement (or evidence of bad approach shots?) is hitting birdies on back-to-back holes by chipping in. That felt pretty dang good.

... Well done! I played yesterday with 2 guys struggling with all their shots. One on #9 after 4 shots to get pin high right of the green to an easy straight forward 352 yd par 4 and hitting over a mound from thick grass and the other on the left side having to clear a bunker from deep rough after 3 to get there ... guy on the right hits it a little thin and it smacks the pin dead center and stops. Guy on the other side hits his too strong and it takes one hop and ready to run off the other side but that one hop wedged right against the flag/foam donut and the hole. I have never seen 2 players pitch in from bad lies on the same hole AND both shots lucky the flag was in the way or would have had at least 15-20 feet coming back. Ya have to think the golf Gods have a warped sense of humor. 🤪

According to the USGA, 1.6-percent of male golfers who have a USGA Handicap Index have indexes of zero or better. Among women golfers, the percentage is even smaller: 0.37-percent. So the percentage of golfers who are scratch is very, very small.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been lucky, good, good and lucky.

9 holes no bogeys a few times

18 holes no bogeys, no birdies. Once

Most amount of birdies in 9 holes, 3 a few times

Most amount of birdies in 18 holes. 5 Once, correction twice. Just did it again last Sunday

I keep score cards with personal records, from nice courses, or from group outings.

Bogeys are actually my goal!

Seriously .. I describe myself as.. "average recreational bogey golfer" .. so making a bogey, and not worse .. and with a possible chance at a par .. is a "good" hole for me.

At my course I have had a bogey-free front nine and a bogey-free back nine, but never on the same day, obviously... otherwise you would have certainly heard about it.  😀

I don't mind bogeys at all, as long as I don't string a bunch of them together.  🙄   I don't make many birdies, but I also don't make a ton of doubles or worse.  Yes, I can make them.  I have a lot of birdie-free rounds, and I can throw in some doubles here and there.
