The Good Morning Thread

Hey, y'all!  Hope your weekend is going to be enjoyable in whatever endeavors you undertake.  It's graduation weekend for the local university so lots of craziness going on , including on the golf course.  I don't usually play on Saturdays so not a big loss for me.  I was up and out early today to Menard's to get supplies to do battle with the chipmunks.  Have never had an issue with them until last year and they are back -- my dog managed to chase one out of the downspout the other day.  She's gotten a rabbit and squirrel that she played catch-and-release with (they squeaked like one of her toys so it was a game), and the opossum(s) she caught (either the same one twice about a week apart or two different ones) which just played dead so she put it/them down.  The chipmunk didn't squeak or play dead but get trying to get away.  When I finally got her to drop it, the chipmunk was still breathing so I took it over to a wooded area on the other side of the fence and it wobbled away.  For the sake of both the dog and the remaining chipmunks I've got to figure something out.  Not excited about having to do it in heavy mist/light rain but . . .

Oh, and here's the might huntress.

Update ! Didn't play all that bad yesterday,  going out later this morning for round 2! Not sure If it's a 3 on 4 scramble or a 2 on 3. But it's all good as I'm playing golf again! Hope you all have an amazing weekend!️️️

Morning All,

Well range day yesterday went off without a hitch. No physical injuries, just bruised egos. More work today, but I will be leaving early. The wife's birthday is tomorrow, but we have tickets to an event she wanted to go to. That means we are celebrating her birthday today. It rained pretty hard throughout the night at my house, and on my way to work I could tell where the rain line stopped. Hoping that the rain doesn't come in full force so I can get out on Monday morning. Hope everyone has a great day.

  Joining the Ancient Agers at our appropriated ( it is good to be the privileged elderly ) tee time.  
   Just looking forward to being out there. Not planning on practicing or working on any particular part of the game. Realizing that I will probably be all over the course, I will embrace an enhanced viewpoint of my game including along the lines of

Good Saturday morn!  (at least for another 1/2 hour here)
Just back from a nice beach trip to celebrate the better half's birthday.

Got to relax, recharge, get a round in, make the community call and earn some good marriage points. (Can never have too many)

On the golf note, I remembered my laziness not to bring my clubs is not worth playing so so with rentals.

I think Santa found a side gig for his sleigh during the warm season

I wish that I could say that I only have been awake for a little while, but still working on breaking the early morning wake-up schedule.

For me it will be a full day of previously planned events supporting Leader Dogs, but it also allows numerous opportunities to interact with people and socialize, so they usually are fun things to do.

Did manage to spend some time at Carl's Golfland yesterday with SWMBO along. It was a rainy day, I bought a putter grip, actually practiced with a few different putters for a couple hours while SWMBO perused the store for womans clothing, as they had a massive sale for the upcoming Mother's Day here. Fortunately, it wasn't too bad of a hit to the wallet, and she had an enjoyable time, and I got some practice in.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, no matter what is in your plans, and that something fun and enjoyable makes up your day. 

 

Years ago we applied to adopt a Leader Dog that didn't make it to graduation.
I think he failed (or was invited to leave Leader Dog training) due to not being completely agreeable around other dogs. 
Turned out to be a wonderful family addition.

Good morning spies! Went to the range yesterday and hit 1 small bucket of balls mostly using the LagShot clubs. Talk about tuning the swing after a long layoff! Three shots with the 7 iron and my little right to left draw is tracking right down the alignment stick target line. The driver and sand wedge did the same thing after only a ball or two. So I dug out real golf clubs and was happily surprised to see and feel the LagShot club swings instantly translated into regular club swings with excellent results. 

I cannot recommend Lagshot enough if you have had a long layoff or if like me, you have permanently damaged body parts and are too stubborn or stupid to give up the game. They teach you how to move your whole body, not just the arms and hands. And, since you take them to the driving range to hit balls, they provide instant feedback. 

@Dead Solid Bogey Welcome back to a different kind of frustration. You know, standing there with your 8 iron suspended over your left shoulder, and saying to yourself, "I wonder why the ball is going over there??"

I'm gaining on my goal of scratch by year end. 3/4 solid rounds and I'm down below 2.0 for the first time. I dont even feel like my swing is mint right now. Im just getting around well. Still need to break 70 once but definitely going in the right direction.

Good Late Morning spies!

Was able to complete my sociology paper on Ageism this morning and thus I am free to enjoy my youthful self-sufficiency outside of the collective dependence on others (or whatever I just wrote about and have already cleared my mind of).

Nothing major to report except I am expecting to receive the shafts that I ordered either today or Monday. And I can't wait to test those bad boys out with the Qi10 Max!

the greens were so fast I was afraid to hit an approach shot into them. Three putting???? How about 4 putts! Compared to my home course it was like playing a PGA course. I remember playing a course right after the pros played and these greens were just as fast. I wasn’t ready for that. My drives were fine. Nothing else was good. So I’m taking a break and doing some stuff around the house today. If you all are playing have a great round! I’m gonna shake this embarrassing round off. Worst part, it was all mental. That and how fast the greens were. Like ICE fast!

Confirmed that the two charges from Royal Dornoch went through on my card yesterday. I am officially entered in the Robbie Grant/Duncan Murray Seniors and the MacLeod 7 Club tournaments. There are 120 in the Grant/Murray and up to 48 in the MacLeod 7 (it's not full). My only goal is not to finish DFL. Or get DQd

Probably will do a Rypstick workout this evening and FFG tomorrow. Might hit some balls in my garage too.

I was watching this vid this morning, and it was such a great reminder of mindset on the golf course. 

If you haven’t watched it—Peter Finch is playing 9 holes with Padraig Harrington. Padraig was dropping tips throughout their match. At one point, Peter had a really bad stretch of bogey or worse, and he began to vocalize his frustration.

So Padraig piped up. I’ve queued it up.

I would summarize what he said, but he said it so well himself, I just wouldn’t do it justice.

Good afternoon fellow spies!! Was on the road this morning so missed chiming in early. Currently sitting in a gym with my oldest daughter at a volleyball prospect camp. Such a beautiful day outside but it’s a memory for me that I’ll be able to think back on when she decides on what she’s doing for college and life. 
 

Middle daughter’s doctor appt went ok yesterday. Still no answers but a different possibility. So still wait and see.

We celebrated my wife's birthday today, when though the actual date is tomorrow. She wanted to hit up a plant nursery and an Ace Hardware store down near Chattanooga to look for some houseplants. We found a few plants she loved and one she would consider a wish list plant, the Thai Constellation. Needless to say, she came out of there a happy person. 

I never would have expected a hardware store to out do specialty shops for houseplants, but it did. I also found some maple wood chips for my smoker. 

We them drove to our favorite Chinese buffet for her birthday dinner and I ate way too much.

I'm thankful to have such an amazing wife and to see the joy in her face as she was carrying the plants out to the car was priceless.

Happy Saturday evening! It’s morning somewhere, but yeah I’m late to the thread.

Got out to the range and got through 80% of my bucket before a thunderstorm rolled in and cut me off. Still working on squaring up the clubface more especially with driver.

After the birthday celebration yesterday, we were able to snag a grandchild for sleepover. A “reality bites” moment came when a seven year old beat two 57 year olds at a memory card game.
