Popular Post Chux13
Gouda morning, spies! Had my 2nd chance match play yesterday and played MUCH better than the last time. Unfortunately the guy I was up against had an even better day and beat me 6&4. I had to be near perfect to keep up with this guy. Was just about -1 after 13 freaking holes!! Tough one for a 13 hdcp to keep up with . Today, get to play in a 2 man scramble with a good buddy of mine. Going to be a blast!! Excellent weekend of golf and hope yall get a good one in there too. Popular Post rkj427
Good morning Spies on what is starting out as a partly cloudy and very muggy Michigan morning. @GolfSpy_KFT good luck today Jason, do your best, but also have a great time. That is what matters most. I am heading out to the Woodward Dream Cruise in a bit, should be not too far from @ZJeb67 in the Royal Oak area. Rain in the forecast for later this afternoon, so hoping to be back before that starts again. Golf on the agenda of Tuesday and Thursday again for me next week, may get some range time tomorrow provided the rain disappears. Popular Post Erin B
Good morning spies! Hope everyone has a great day! Not much going on here. Have a teatime this morning, but first eating breakfast with the what’s the daughter unit and the spousal unit. Came across a funny post on Facebook from Golf humor and thought I’d share it with you. Have a great day. “I saw a homeless man and asked him, "If I gave you $20, would you buy beer?" He said, "No, I haven’t touched a drop in years." Then I asked, "If I give you $20, would you buy golf equipment?" He shook his head and said, "No, I gave up golf 15 years ago." So I said, "I’ll do you one better than $20. I’ll take you home, get you cleaned up, and my wife will cook a fantastic meal for you. Then I’ll bring you back and still give you $20." He looked at me and asked, "Won’t she get mad?" I grinned and said, "It doesn’t matter. I just want her to see what happens to a man when he stops drinking and stops playing golf!" Starting the day with cuddles from my 5yo and wife, some delicious Dunkin coffee, and some light reading. Picked this hardback up for $5 on the recommendation of a golf buddy. I'm coming off a ridiculously poor lesson yesterday. It's getting to the point where I fear I'll never go to that coach again. He's so full of good information but talks too much. Popular Post EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies on a damp Saturday in WNY with hot coffee making the morning read-back of the thread a good browse, thanks for posting and reading Yesterday afternoon/evening round with @The1C3man was played as an easy exercise having been invited the night before to play in a tournament today. Knowing it is going to be 18 holes, I was concerned about overdoing it with 18 the night before, but I learned some good things. (1) I am in pretty good shape this time of the season as at the end I felt like I was not doing anything unusual for any given day. (2) Playing easier and not swinging hard at the ball produces a better result hitting right on my SwingU traditional handicap I reported earlier in the day for today's tournament of 16.2. (3) I played the same ball from 1st tee to 14th green and lost it in the reed filled water hazard that surrounds the front of the green so shots landed in short grass or right next to it, and the ball that took over did finish the round. Will be heading to the tournament in a couple hours with a totally different aspect than yesterday playing with scratch pros and others on a private country club rated not long ago as best in NY State. Lunch and dinner included, it is humbling to be invited by the Head Pro of the Country Club who introduced me on Thursday to the HOPE session as his soul brother... I just hope to play well and add good memories for Dan's day and those I play with. Good to see you are doing well Jason @sirchunksalot and Bill @fixyurdivot you're not alone in that lapse of presence when physics principles are proved (two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time) hope your healing goes quickly. Reading about the people who don't record their scores correctly is reminder that we must always be true to ourselves, the temptation is there on the golf course only to the point where it matters to self what not being true to self will mean to others. My 88 yesterday (couldn't believe it touching save round on the app) was a surprise when I thought back to the 7 on a par 4 I put down knowing it was the right thing to do. Funny how the read-back was affirmation that it doesn't matter what the numbers are on the scorecard, it is the peace that comes with doing what is right. Hope golf is a part of your day! Popular Post fixyurdivot
Top of the pot and good Saturday morning spies . Other than heading to the gym in about 15 minutes, and a couple of errands, not much on the schedule. I do plan to watch the USGA Amateur Championship. Final Four today. I was really rooting for Bobby Massa, the 36 year old mid am with a 126 mph swing speed, to make it to the semi finals today. He was ranked 11xx something and not a likely finalist coming into the event. Unfortunately, the long ball finally bit him yesterday against the Ballester from Spain who plays at ASU. The Golf Channel commentators were discussing where Massa would rank on the PGA Tours longest hitters... top 5! That's pretty cool. Watching a few of his matches this past week, it just highlights that big distance without control and a better than average short game isn't a recipe for success. Popular Post RichL85
What a long last few days. Thursday ended up being a 13 hour work day where I didn't get to split it because of the AC repair at the office taking 6 hours, after the tech showed up 2 hours late of course. Then, my wife had a friend that was supposed to fly into the airport that is about 45 minutes from us Thursday night, but things happened and long story short, the only way her friend was going to make it to California would be to fly into LA Thursday night. So immediately after returning home from the long work day, we packed up into the car and drove the 3.5 hours to LAX to pick her up around 2AM, crashed at a nearby hotel afterwards and drove back home Friday afternoon. My wife's friend flies out on Sunday morning so we are planning to check out some sights today, but after only about 6 hours of sleep in the last few nights, it's going to take a large amount of coffee to get me motivated for that. Hopefully everyone else is having a less chaotic weekend so far. I see we have basically "gone live" since @Josh Parker just posted. I am fixing to check out my Hickory equipment since the wife and I are playing on the Par3 at 8:05 this AM. We will do that and then get a late breakfast or early lunch whatever strikes HER fancy. Hey ain't going to lie to you guys. I do not know if any of the Hickory players will show up or not. Most of those guys are older than I am and the heat messes with them worse. It should really be fun in a couple of months when the fall comes and the temps go down. We are just an informal bunch of folks that play and have fun. Some of the group like my wife does plays modern stuff and others hickory and a mix. On lady has her own Hickory clubs as does her husband. Anyone who wants to play can play and play what stuff they desire. A few weeks back we had a nice tourist couple from Maryland join us. As SOP with all of us being members there too we usually have the first tee times. Last week the First Tee program had the first 6 tee times. No problem with us. then I got an E-Mail First tee had cancelled. The wife and I were the only 2 that showed up. Walking we can play in less than 2 hours. Last week it was humid and we took frequent rest stops for extended periods still took us like 2.5 hours. Popular Post barney_bogey
Good morning Spies! Slept in a bit this morning for a change. Went to the range and dinner/drinks with a buddy of mine last night so crashed pretty hard upon returning home. Swing feeling solid though! Hoping it can translate on the course tomorrow. Going to the Cubs game this afternoon with some friends. I've been meaning to get out to a game or two this year, but just haven't planned it far enough in advance. We live about a 20 minute walk to Wrigley, so it's really a shame we don't get over there more. Should be fun as long as rain and thunderstorms in the forecast stay away. Not much else planned for the rest of the day! Hoping to lay low and relax. Hope everyone has a great Saturday and if you're lucky enough to be golfing, hit 'em straight! My dad got me this book when I was younger and I was OBSESSED. Pretty sure I've read it cover to cover 50 times. Enjoy!I got through about half of it this morning. An absolutely enjoyable experience. Wish I had it on the shelf much sooner! Some of this is intuitive but I like seeing it written out in simple enough language. They say that if you can't explain something simply, you don't understand the topic well enough to teach it. Turns out Tiger understands golf pretty well. Who'd have thought? Have a great weekend, friend. Popular Post William P
Good Saturday morning Spies! Well at 10:30 we are sitting at a sultry 98* so the highs today of 103 - 105 should not be much of a step... Sure am glad I don't have GC duties this afternoon... Yesterday was bad enough at 102* with index 0f 108*... While there's not a snowballs chance in hell for rain around here, I hope that those of you who do get some are able to appreciate the event. @sirchunksalot and @fixyurdivot, hope your recoveries continue in a positive fashion and you are able to get out and enjoy the weekend. @MattWillGolf, best wishes to your wife on her competition today. Stay safe and hope everyone has a great start to their weekend today! Popular Post Preeway
Good morning everyone. Up early to get ready for a charity golf event in Oregon being hosted by one of my uncles to support MADD after he lost a son last year to a drinking and driving accident.
