I agree, I think the challenge part of the thread was great for a start to how these clubs perform but want to continue highlighting them as time goes on. 

Right now, I'm just waiting for my foot to feel better so I can play. It's slowly getting better, but might take a couple of weeks to get back to normal.

I hope it heals soon, Chunks! I agree that the challenge was a great start, but a full bag almost feels like a long term review. Especially as I am seeming to just find my stride with the King Tec Hybrid and still have work to do to adjust to the feel on full swings with the wedges. Hit a nice knock down 80 yard 56* yesterday in league that spun back and settled pin high 4 feet right. Just need to get it going consistently! I have been digging with the 52* really bad. Gotta get back to "bruising" the turf like I usually do to unlock some distance on them. That's the only downside for the wedges for me so far, full swings.

I believe that would be a good idea, Sam. I think we could continue to have a lot of fun in that thread. I think this would be a good place to keep highlighting the Cobra clubs and then move the insanity to the After Hours thread. 

Thanks for the kind words about the ankle. I think I just overdid it with all the overtime and while having fun on the course. I regret nothing.

A few final-ish thoughts...

I use Shot Scope as a tracking device and have been looking through some of the data, comparing the Cobras from the last couple months to my gamers from earlier in the year.  Results have been interesting. 

On the left/first (depending on your screen) are what SS calls my Performance Average for my gamers.  For those that don't know, my clubs were mostly an eclectic mix.  My 18° hybrid is actually on a shorter shaft, so I expect it to be shorter than my 21°.  That shorter hybrid took the place of my five iron early in the season, and the six iron...(shrugs).

The other graph shows the Cobra clubs.  First thing that really stands out to me are the distance gains.  I finally have a 3 wood that I can hit consistently, and my new 7 wood does exactly what my old 7 wood did, only further.  And that's mostly the case right down the bag.  Keep in mind that I'm maddeningly inconsistent, and that small sample sizes still apply.  But on the whole, my gapping looks better.  Score one for the "get fitted" crowd.

 

 

The next comparison is my approach accuracy.  There's very little change and that's a little sobering.  I've been telling myself that this was a big improvement, but the numbers aren't quite backing up that theory.  As I pull more and more recent data, though, the numbers do look better.  The initial feeling-out period was rather rough.  I'm certainly not playing great golf; I may be able to hit them farther, but that's only part of the equation!

 

Moving into the short game, this is an area that I do relatively well comparatively.  Getting onto the green is decent, but I need to do better at finishing the job.

 

I've definitely developed some driver yips, and my putting has gotten worse.  Now that the challenge period is over, I'll be able to make a little more time for some comparisons.  I've gotten objectively worse as the year goes on, but I do finally seem to be trending in the right direction.  I've made some big strides with my longer clubs, though that SG-Approach will always be a little haggard because I can't usually reach the green from so far away.  Driver and putter, though...

 

This was always going to be the toughest club to un-seat.  I'd gone through a demo day when I got my Callaway and it's performed pretty well.  I'm getting a little more distance with the Aerojet, but the dispersion is tighter with the Rogue ST.  I suspect a decent amount of that wider dispersion comes from my current driver woes and that anything I hit would produce similar nonsense right now.  

 

Putting...I just suck.  Some of it is physical, but most of it is mental.  I'm just not putting in the focus when it comes time to putt.  I think the stock grip that came with the Stingray is not right for me.  Getting that updated sooner rather than later will help.  Changing putter types and going with a mallet has been a process, too.

 

I know this is a bit of a broken record from both me and the rest of the Cobra Challenge Crew, but I just want to re-iterate how lucky I feel and how thankful I am to have been chosen for this test.  It's been a great ride and I'm happy to have gone through the everything.  I may not be scoring well (both on the course and in the challenge itself) but I've had a blast and I hope I've done a good job being both entertaining and informative.  Big thanks to the mods for putting up with us and thanks to MyGolfSpy and Cobra for the amazing opportunity.

Jerry... This is the bees knees! Seeing all of the data always intrigues me and this may lead me to picking up a ShotScope or something similar. I hope you continue to track everything and update us with the numbers. I'll be curious as to what you end up getting along with and what you don't after a handful more rounds.

Played three holes last night after the kids were asleep and went Par, Bogey, Bogey, so was pretty pleased with that. First drive with the Aerojet Max went about 275 and landed in the right rough and left me with roughly 135ish yards to a center pin. Hit my PW pin high left about 15 feet, just missed birdie for a tap in Par.

Second hole was a left miss (slice) but was in the driving range so very findable and playable on a short Par 4. Again went PW from 120 out uphill, caught it a little heavy but landed front green. Uphill, left to right breaking putt on one of the trickier greens on the course and didn’t hit it hard enough and left it a good 10’ short. Second putt was perfect pace but aimed too far left accounting for break that didn’t come, and tapped in for bogey. 

Third hole again I topped the drive badly but it went straight and ended up in the fairway but with a good 230+ to the green. Went King Tec Hybrid and caught it slightly thin which played like a stinger (elevated area relative to the green) and landed about 3’ short of the front edge. Getting SUPER dark at this point lol so the ball staying low helped me see it . Bladed the bump and run attempt across the green, then had a little downhill chip. Hit it to 2’ for a tap in Bogey. Was happy with that save after blading the first one lol.

Getting out for 9 this morning at 8:30 so hoping to keep that scoring going/improve!

Just got back in from 9 and boy did it heat up quickly had some problems with Arccos today which I am quite frustrated by. I had to order a new sensor and adapter for the super stroke Traxion tour grip on my 3D Supernova and it already is not working. Tried to pause my round and re-pair it and it would not, so I’ll be calling them today to get a replacement. Tracking shots was thus more tedious but still managed and shot a 47. Started out really strong with a bogey save and back to back pars before getting into some trouble and needing lateral punch outs the next two holes. Double Bogey’d the Par 5 4th and Quad on the Par 4 5th. Was able to Bogey out the rest of the way, so that was a plus for me. Shots off the tee were less than stellar today. Was striking the King Tec and 3 wood extremely well on the range but then it didn’t carry over. Probably was rushing in my transition at the top, but oh well. When paired with my 44 from Tuesday, gives me a total of 91 over 18 holes which ties my previous low round 18 for my home course. Definitely feel like I could have broken 90 today again but wasn’t in the cards. Struck irons well, hit both par 3s in regulation, and just missed a birdie putt on holes 2 (from 47 feet!!!)and 3. 

Also had three consecutive 3 putts which was disappointing. Either hit the lag too short or rolled it too hot. Still work to do with the Nova, but the struggles today were on me and not the club. The ball rolled exactly how I hit it and on intended target lines.

Edit: Already spoke to Arccos, and a replacement sensor is ordered and will be here early next week. Their customer service is top notch.

... After working 14 hours Tuesday and 17.5 hours Wednesday, then flying back Thursday I crashed last night and woke up 10.5 hours later. Brain had a nice reboot.   So I'll be starting the After Hours Spy Saloon later today. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. 

... Love to post some Cobra equipment comments after more rounds but it has been two weeks since I played any golf thanks to work (yea!) and the record temps above 110* and most of those days 114* to 118* (boo!). But it looks like a respite is coming Monday dropping from 115* today thru Sunday and under 110* Monday for 3 days and I will be playing all of them. Back up to 114* Friday I am really looking forward to the Cobra's blending in with the rest of my bag to see what my new norm is like.

Thanks and not that I am complaining while I am obviously complaining, but the clients were taking me out to a really nice restaurant in Portland as a big Thank You for the long hours in front of the camera, in a suit and tie under the hot lights with constant script changes. But because of circumstances out of their control Wednesdays 12 hr day turned into a 17.5 hour day/night and best they could do was have some pizza delivered to the set. At least it was really good pizza!
