Zebra Putters - 2023 Forum Review

Recommended Posts

The putter is good, I am going between my Cameron super select and the Zebra green speed dependent.  Honestly for me it has been coming down to confidence.  Slower greens I do better with the Zebra, anything faster than 10 I have struggled with it….

golf is great

Quick update:

I switched back to my old gamer (taylormade ardmore 3) and have found my ability to get the speed right is much better on longer putts than the Zebra. I can start the ball on my line a little bit better with the Zebra but I am prone to leaving it short or far too long once I get past 20 feet. My hunch is that because it’s rather heavy and large compared to the Ardmore 3 I don’t have the same feel and have a hard time trusting my gut on the speed. On putts 15 feet and in I still prefer the Zebra. But if I’m playing a links style course or one with huge greens I might leave it at home. This is just my own mental weirdness and might not be an issue for everyone.

With our move to Florida and my head cold, I haven't played much over the past 4 weeks. Since we got here 2 weeks ago, I played about 4 times and practiced a bit in between to get use to Bermuda greens. Yesterday, I think every thing clicked as I'm back to my original form with the AIT4. Yesterday, I sank a number of 1 putts and missed a few just a roll away and no 3 putts. Had a great up and down for a birdie on a par 5 (our #2 handicap hole). I'm still liking this putter, can't quite explain what it is about the putter that's leading to success but it works. It's definitely staying in the bag  - at least until it misbehaves. 😏

Just an update - after playing about an additional doz. rounds since my last update, the AIT4 is performing very well - so much so that I permanently retired my O Works.

Question for the testers, and forgive me if this has been asked before, but how did the black finish on the putters hold up during testing? Seeing the pictures in the review article of the testing, it appeared that the finish has worn off quite a bit over a short period of time. Was that your experience or just bad lighting in some of the images?

Thanks

HH

I can’t speak for the other testers but the paint on mine is definitely starting to wear very slightly on the “wings”. I’m not sure what’s causing it as I have never dropped it on anything but grass and always have the head cover on.

I feel the paint has not changed much if at all looking at my putter. I even utilize the wings to pick up the ball on occasion and notice minimal damage. I think I had bad lighting with some of the pictures I took.

That being said in pictures it kinda looks like two different heads glued together. Lol

This is an observation I've had about a lotta new putters in that they look like 2 models in the manufacturers line had a baby!🤣
