This is tricky because I have three favorite sets of irons for certain but the woods/metals, wedges and putters varied through the life of the iron sets. I guess I will give them with my favorites of those where applicable.

Tommy Armor PGA driver, 3,4 woods all persimmon

Ram Tour grind 2 iron through PW

wilson Staff SW

no putter that I liked - broke par and 70 for my first time with these. This set was destroyed in a car accident.

Ping Eye 2 driver through SW, eventually the driver and 3 wood were replaced with a Taylor Made original one, Tour spoon and ultimately a titleist 907D - had the Eye 2 5 wood in the bag forever

Ping putter of some sort - became that 5 handicap who was steady as a rock with these.

Mizuno 700 series driver, Cobra EZ 3 wood and Cobra hybrid

Nicklaus iron max irons(first iron set with graphite shafts) used the Eye 2 W as my gap wedge, Ping SW and 58

Voodoo daddy putter, Nike one black (ball) I was a 1 handicap for three years with that set make up although if memory serves I had an iteration of Adam’s woods, driver at least, in the mix for some of that time, too. I absolutely hated the driver, it looked like a pancake and sounded worse. I tried everything that I could to replace it but couldn’t until I found the Adam’s one - I was automatic with that stupid thing - point and shoot driver - 240, whatever part of the fairway I need to be in time after time, slap something on or around the green, 2 putt and move on - it was such boring golf.

Driver: Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  R flex   - 44.25

Fairways:  Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood  Alta CB red 65 R flex

Hybrid:  Ping G410  26 degree  Alta CB Red 70 R flex

Irons: Ping G430  7-PW, 45, 50 Alta CB black 65 soft R flex

Wedges:  Ping 195 S54, E58

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

Oh oh I will play:

Woods - Wilson Whale (remember those?) with a Firestick shaft, Titleist 975D 9.5* with Grafalloy Prolite, Titleist 975J 9.5* with Grafalloy Prolite, Taylor Made 360 9.5* (Tour Issue (stamped 320 on the sole from what I can remember)) with Fuji Speeder 757

The 975s will forever remain close to my heart. Loved those drivers and the TM was an awesome driver and again my journey into the whole Tour Issue side of things which was wallet busting and eye opening.

Irons - Mizuno TP19 (3-PW), Ping Eye 2+ (2-SW), Tourstage MR-23 US Spec (3-PW)

TP19s because I wanted to be like Faldo circa 1992, Ping Eye 2+ as they are classics, Tourstage was my first dip into the JDM rabbit hole (Endo Forged...soooo good!)

Putter - Ping Anser BeCu (special because I bought it at the Open in 1989 at Royal Troon (well my dad did)) and had it for years until that and my TP19s were stolen). LAB Link1 as its my current putter and has displaced all my Scottys. Also special mention to my Slighter Tacoma (34", 400g head, floating slot, initials stamped) that was custom made for me by Tom Slighter years ago.

Three iron sets......

MP32's

Wilson Deep Red Tour

Srixon MKII

I think mine would be:

Cobra F8 with True Temper XP 85 R FLEX shafts. They were the first set I got fit for and I shot some pretty good scores with them.

Mizuno JPX 921 Forged with Modus 105 R flex shafts. The single most best feeling irons I have ever played and the reason I'm hoping to get to being a better ball striker, I want these back in the bag so bad.

Cobra Forged Tec X with KBS PGI R flex. My current games and they're surprisingly forgiving for a players distance iron.

I can make this easy.   I have only enjoyed ONE set.   The only one I have ever owned. So I guess it has to be my favorite,  right? 😆

Have not hit the Stix yet, so can't say weather or not they will be a favorite.

WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.

This is tough.

First off I’ll lead off with one that will always be on my Mount Rushmore made famous by David Duval…The Titleist 962B.  These will always be my favorite set I ever played.

IMG_0493.jpeg.0adcce848143bef10266739e7afdb81f.jpeg

Second it’s an easy choice.  The 2023 T100…I’ve never been as good at iron play than I have with these.

IMG_0495.jpeg.2041b36c01b6ab02ff67ad40e78cdce8.jpeg

Third is a set I never played but always wanted to bag.  Nike original blades.  Think about this for a second…you’re introducing an iron and it’s this masterpiece.

As far as woods go…there are three with an honorable mention…no pictures this time

Honorable Mention - Taylor Made RBZ. The best driver they ever made.

#3) Callaway original Great Big Bertha. Say no more. This was the game changer with s2h2 and where we began to see custom shaft swaps. I see you Grafalloy ProLite 35 🙂

#2) Titleist 975D. A class of its own. If you weren’t playing this you had a PING TiSi and wanted a 975D.

#1) Ping G400. The best driver they ever made. I would have put TiSi here but the G400 is their magnum opus, their Deer Hunter.

I’ve only ever owned 3 sets of irons, and 2 were technically the same.

Started with Harvey Penick Classic Player irons with only the odd irons (shorter shafts), the my dad reshafted them to full size and got the rest of the set.

Then moved to the irons I have now, TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB that I still enjoy.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver

TaylorMade Stealth 3 wood

Titleist U510 Hybrid (3H)

TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Irons

Vokey SM8 Wedges (52/56/60)

Same here - right up until the moment it essentially exploded on the range in 2017. But the silver lining was stumbling upon MyGolfSpy when I was researching a replacement disco stick.

Most folks probably have no idea the FT Tour design was the precursor to all the full carbon body Callaway drivers today. Those heads were low spin deep faced mortars with a lovely pear shape that set just a tad open and sounded absolutely amazing. I was crushed when mine bit the dust

I played DCI 962s for a long time and also T100s now.

We like similar irons, apparently, although I can't see myself doing much with those pretty Nike blades.
