75 9/14 fir 13/18 gir 32 putts Hit it much better than score shows. Couldn’t make a putt and hit a punch 5 iron from 118 from the trees that landed on the green a bounced 30 yards OB. Such is golf sometimes.

  3. So, got my pillows. A couple of cheapy 2.50 ones for volume from Kohl's and nice one from Columbia with a fill that keeps your pillow chilled. Then I went to Costco to nab my new phone which is on it's way, the Samsung Note 10. Regularly 950, I got it for 479. I know I talked alot about OnePlus and whatnot, but I had to look at this like a golf equipment purchase. I wanted a brand that I could trade in if need be. Add 256gb of storage and the stylus... Couldn't pass the deal up. The laptop thing might get done tomorrow or Cyber Monday. Other than that it was gifts for others, then off to the casino for a Tanya Tucker concert with my girlfriend. Tanya may not look as good as she once does, but she still sounds awesome. Highly recommended.

  6. I've had a question related to this to be posed to the testers: how are these at manipulating the ball? High/low, draws/fades, etc. I know these are designed to go straight, high and far but golf , as we all know, is seldom as simple as that. My i500's can be worked but a draw is easier than a fade for me. I can fade it but if I need a big fade, it requires a pretty exaggerated setup/move on my part. What are the testers finding? Also, for those who miss on the toe, what kind of yardage drop are you seeing? In reference to Ping's equipment cycle, we should see replacements for the i210/i500 this year, right? Great job everyone - I have enjoyed following along. I have had a busy fall, so I haven't posted much but I have been lurking @ballplayer002003 - Your video work is impressive!

  8. Hey guys, 2 slight tweaks to the playoff pick 'em bracket: Final round scoring changed to 10 pts champ, 8 pts 2nd, and 6 pts 3rd. Still worth 24 in total but need to reward those who pick the champ at a higher value. If you're in the playoffs, you can enter but aren't eligible for the $100 Gift certificate. There's still about 4 entries left on the workbook. Again, I'm locking it at 1pm today so good luck ya'll and good luck to those who made the playoffs (but especially good luck to those in the Stud division ) PS. Happy Birthday @bardle! Enjoy your relaxing bye week.

  9. First off, thank you, but anyone with an iPhone can do it. I am having a hard time flighting the ball down. I have to REALLY work hard at doing this and when I do pull it off successfully, the ball flight tends to be of what I would expect a MID ball flight to be. As far as hitting draws and fades, again, has to be pretty aggressive with the club to get it to move a bit. I am not a huge mover of the ball but can do it when needed, and I was having trouble doing it with these. Obviously, my Mizuno's are much easier to do this with. Lastly, and one of the most impressive things for me, was toe/heel strikes. I don't lose much distance at all!!!!! Maybe...maybe 10 yards tops. I will post video reviews tomorrow and hope it answers some of your questions in better detail.

  12. I hit far too many balls this morning at the range, really should have taken more half swings to ingrain the changes my coach is wanting, but I really wanted to see how far I could ramp it up. This is the impact pattern of 10 6-irons. Couple were a touch fat, but overall really pleased with my ball striking today.

I might as well start knitting or something...

  15. Hit the heated bay yesterday for a bucket 'o balls. Mostly just a touch up day, went up through the bag and then spent the rest of the time working on partial wedge shots. Swing actually feels really good for the off-season. I've got my first lesson coming up in a week, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he says with my swing!

I cannot explain it. There was a time (pre Harbaugh) that going into the "Big House" was a certain loss even when you were favored. Still, a 9-3 season is a good run. With both Alabama and Minnesota getting upset today, that will shift some bowl selections. I finished up my round today in time to see the finish of both the Auburn vs. Alabama, and Stanford vs. Notre Dame. Both games finished better than I did on the par 4 #18... a snowman, making what should have been a nice 80 an 84 .

    8 iron surprise, you?

Coming at the OP question from a high-handicapper perspective -- I tried ShotScope earlier this year and honestly, for me, there were no surprises. I totally get Rev's points about learning your true distances and using it to help map out/set up your bag, etc. ... so I may revisit a shot tracking gadget in the future. But for me for now I will gain a lot more from continued lessons coupled with focused practice.

  20. Mostly. I added a ton of height when I switched to the C-Taper Lites and slightly weaker lofts on these new irons, but my distance is already better than it ever was this season. When I get it all put together correctly, I am hitting nice little push draws that end up right on my original target line. My miss right now is a pull draw, I definitely overcooked a few that would have cost me on the course. Just a matter of more practice, I think, because I'm seeing a lot of really great results when I get it right.

  21. Had the G410s out for another range session this morning. Took them to the member clinic and today’s lesson could not have been more perfect for the test....”Working the Ball” Went through setup and awing for straight, then fade, then draw. I struggle with the intentional fade as it is but here’s what I saw with the G410s. Straight shots went mostly straight. My fade shots looked more like a push, but I didn’t really get many solid strikes on the fares to measure by. My draw shots were okay, but again, I wasn’t striking solid on every swing. The setup adjustment with the club face was throwing me off a bit. My assessment based on this morning and on course performance so far is that the G410 irons maintain a fair bit of workability for a GI design. Whether intentional or by mistake if your face to path relationship result should be a draw or fade that is what you’ll get. Same for a hook/slice swing. The small curve shots do look like they are trying to resist but they still draw or fade. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  28. I've been tracking over in the official thread, where they welcomed us non-participants and DIYers to post as well: I have gotten (much) faster. Now, I've also been changing my swing over the past year since starting to take golf seriously, so I'm sure that is responsible for a lot of progress as well. But, since raw numbers are fun to post, I started last winter swinging a driver between 95-100 MPH. My goal by the end of next season is to see that number closer to 110-115 MPH. When swinging well this past summer, I was around 103-108 MPH. I haven't been measured on a Trackman in a long time, I am hoping to go again in a few weeks. My ultimate goal is to exceed 170 MPH ball speed with the driver.

  29. Same is true for this medium-handicapper. I've not tried ShotScope. There won't be any surprises if I did. I know my game and my limitations, and ShotScope would just confirm it. I am a 9 handicap, but only because I have been practicing my short game. If I spent less time practicing it, my handicap would be about a 14. I can reasonably play to a 14, but it's extremely difficult for me to play to a 9. Here's why... I am not a great ball striker. More likely than not, I will mess up one of two or three shots on a hole. I can mess up a drive, or if I hit a good drive, I'll thin/chunk my second shot. I know my distances for each club, but I mishit enough that it doesn't really matter that I know them. Couple that with not reaching some par 5's in 3 shots or par 4's in two shots, and I'm scrambling... it's what I do. What really surprises me is when I play a hole exactly like I think I should play it.

Can someone with more football knowledge explain to me why teams like Auburn can upset a giant on occasion and Michigan folds like a $2 chair? I’ve been trying to figure this out since they hired Harbaugh. But even before that they were never quite “there”... before Hoke and Rich Rod (those are the dark years)... Even Lloyd struggled in the big games. The Big House had 106,000+ people there today to watch an absolute blow out. And if you looked closely enough there was waaay too much red in that stadium. Michigan fans just say forget it? Someone shed some light for me please. I’m not even mad, Ohio State played a great game and congratulations to them and their fan base for eclipsing Michigan in the overall Win % today.

74 8/14 fir 10/18 gir 30 putts First cold golf day, and after a couple days of rain. Course was playing long not to mention not being able to swing with extra layers on. 43. Good news update, HomeDepot came through and did end up offering the Rigid miter saw stand at half price, so picked up one of those. Then ended up buying a Ryobi battery powered chainsaw for half off, a bucket of bungee cords and a 2pk of angle grinder cut off wheels just because they were a good deal. From Amazon I got some iTunes gift cards that were 20% off just because it's a deal and we'll end up using them. Last stop was my course clubhouse. They have all remaining apparel for employee cost so I ended up with some hats for myself and my two boys, a couple shirts and a FJ short sleeve rain jacket. Done with black friday and now it's time to pack for a Disney trip tomorrow.

Been waiting for black friday to order a Precision Pro NX7 Pro version, also found out that it was quite a bit cheaper for me to buy on the german site in € instead of the UK or US sites so got it for a really good price. Looking forward to using it in the spring (will probably shoot anything I can from my apartment until I can get it on the course..)

  46. I talked to our Super about this a couple weeks ago. He has heard of some small executive type courses doing it. But said he cant imagine any regular course would ever do so. The size of greens (and 18 of them not 9) would be very expensive. once they are done they arent maintenance free. They would need to be cleaned/brushed/vacuumed regularly . creating and changing holes could present quality challenges. Eventually the turf will wear out and need replaced. damage can be tough to repair vs grass. Where the turf meets grass on the fringes could create some awkward rolls/lies plus he said probably a myriad of other things he hadn’t thought of Think about it. All other synthetic fields are generally 1 large area that arent 18 individual 3,000 SQ Feet fields of their own.

  47. YEAH! Thanks to @GolfSub70 and especially their fearless leader Jason. I have to wait until the thumb heals but I can't wait to hit this one. I asked that they not put a grip on because of my obsession with Pure grips, so they sent me a hat instead. As well as some tees and a nice personal note. And I was very happy to see that I could get an Even Flow Blue shaft for a $20 upgrade.

  48. Been looking for a putter to do some experimenting with; I wanted something with adjustable weights so I could see how different weights impacted my stroke. Gone through a lot of putters in my golfing career, but never had an 8802 style putter. A while ago I saw Chisag's Bobby Grace putter and really liked the look. Found a used 6330 on eBay so I figured I would bid; ended up wining and the putter arrived today. Current headweight is 350gr so I am going to see if I can find some lighter and heavier weights to try and get the putter dialed in. Feels pretty head heavy so I may also try some counterbalancing. Looking forward to some winter fun.

My daughter's coming home from school for a week tomorrow, so I wanted to take her car out to run an errand just to make sure it was going to be OK after the cold snap we had. Sure enough, it won't start. I drove it a bit last week and filled the tank but the battery's down to 10% charge. It's actually the original battery in the 2005 Corolla, at that. Of course, pulling a battery with gunked up bolts in 30 degree temps while it's pitch black is just a blast. Only gashed my knuckles twice. Oh well, at least she'll have a working car tomorrow...
