    How'd you play?

... Dayum PMook I think I could shoot a 59 with those drives! Well done. ... Still riding my hot streak and I feel like Tin Cup describing my best shot of the day "Was it the 4 hybrid I hit to 6 feet on #9 for Eagle? Or the 5 iron I hit to 6 feet on #12 for Eagle?" Another great day on the course and missed 3 makable birdie putts inside 8 feet with these slightly bumpy, aerated greens that are still a week or two away from being back to normal. They are re-leveling 4 tee boxes and I got to tee off on the senior tees for the 2 Eagles at 472 and 476 but still had to hit an accurate 4hy and 5 iron and make the putts. ... I kept track of GIR's and what club I used today. Hot streak indeed because I hit 12 GIR's and that is just not the norm as I am probably around 7-10 and some days 5 or 6 or less when I am struggling. I missed greens with pw, 5, 5, gw, 7, 6 irons. The pw I went after a ball left open and caught the fringe but still rolled down the slope and my only bogie of the day from 132. Then on severe downslope I caught my Gw fat leaving a 62yd Lw I stuck to 3 feet. On #6 I hit the pin dead solid with my Gw from 117 and instead of a tap in I had a 15 footer that somehow found the cup so some karma justice. And since Rick is still convalescing I included some bacon that gave me the energy to go low today and should make him feel a little better!

    How'd you play?

First round in 3 weeks yesterday. Happy with the 87, considering 103 heat index and not swinging a club in that time. Gen5 irons continue to be doing it for me. 39% GIR which has been my number the past 6 weeks. And 3-4 of them were very close misses. And a couple just plain bad shots. Highlight od the day was my lag putting. All day long I put it within 1.5 to 2 feet. A few times from distances of 30 or more feet. I had 32 putts which is certainly not tour level but the fact that so many of those were routine tap ins, made it pretty stress free. I did miss a couple 5 footers that I should have made. Move back to the TSi has paid off. 12 of 14 fairways. One miss was a too aggressive line on our 16th hole trying to set up a birdie attempt. Stupid!! No more rounds for at least two weeks due to some minor surgery next week.

  14. Not been keeping this thread current, but wanted to check in here to say that, for the second straight year, Kirke has made it through the Local and Sub-regional rounds of Drive, Chip, and Putt and will be headed to Medinah Country Club for the Regionals! Quick recap of the day: the Sub-regional round for us in at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. That's a 2.5-hour drive due south. Since Christopher's event began just after 9:00am, that meant we had to get everyone ready to roll out just before 6:00am: Speaking of Christopher: I've mentioned him in previous posts. He's my little moose; only 7 years old now, he outweighs Kirke by 25lbs and is the biggest kid in his age group at most things we've brought him to. This year, he entered DCP for the first time, and he surpassed Kirke in one way: he advanced to the second round on his first attempt. At the Local round, neither boy put up a great number, but both did enough to win their age groups, and Kirke only beat Christopher by a single point. We got to SentryWorld in time for Christopher to get his practice in. After some chipping and putting, which went well, Christopher went to range to hit balls. Unfortunately, he was hitting a bunch of low hooks; although I tried a couple of instructions to calm that down, they persisted into the competition. He sent his first tee ball OB left, then straightened the next two out. But he didn't get any of his chips particularly close. His putting was a bright spot, finishing mid-pack there, but overall, he ended up 13/18 on the day. I'm encouraged for him. Making it to the second round in his first year was a nice accomplishment. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in the same age group next year with another year of growth (gulp!) and development: Kirke's tee time was about an one and a half after Christopher's. He showed his usual solid touch on and around the green, and had really nice control of his driver on the range. He's not (in general) going to outdrive most of the guys in his age group, but when he's on, he's going to be solid in distance and never going to miss the grid. That's a solid recipe for banking points at DCP. Kirke was the second to start in Boys 10-11. He did exactly what he need to do in drive: 3 balls, all between 120-140 yards, all in the fairway, for 23 points. (For comparison: one boy in his age group scored 27, but that was one 150 yard drive, one 220 yard drive(!), and one that got zero points for missing the grid.) Chipping was Kirke's best event of the day. His worst shot with within 6' and his best with within 2' of the cup. That was good for 45 points. On putting, he lipped in the 6' putt, left the 15' putt inside 4', but the 30' putt came up well short of the target. Oddly, both boys missed the 30' putt short, with their ball stopping on a downslope that carried a lot of balls well past the target. It seemed like a really difficult putt. Of the 18 boys in Kirke's age bracket, only 3 got it on the target circle at all, and only one boy got it inside 4'. That gave Kirke 99 points, one less point that he got one this round one year ago in the younger age group. It's a reasonably good score, but I wasn't convinced it would be enough. I told Kirke, based on history, to expect to finish as an alternate. Then the waiting began; there were still 16 other boys who had to finish and turn in their scores. Unlike last year, when they'd write the scores on the poster when each card was turned in, this year they were posting the live scores online. So here's me, hitting refresh over and over again with my darling little girl hanging on my back: As we got nearer and nearer to Kirke's age group being done, still no one had topped his score. The top two from Sub-regionals move on to Regionals, so Kirke would still advance if one of the remaining boys beat him. But no one did. For the second straight year, he scored high enough to win his age group and move on to the Regional round at Medinah! I'm proud of both of my boys. I think Christopher had a nice start to his DCP "career," and I'm obviously excited for Kirke to have another crack at Medinah. For those who don't know, if he wins there, he would advance to Augusta for the finals next spring. On the drive home, I asked him how much he wants to get to Augusta. I've got some plans and drills so that he can be as sharp as possible for that event.

Tuesday & this morning (Friday) did the Exec 9 “chip & putt”. Knee feeling better all the time after 9 weeks TKR. Hit a couple wedges from 90-100 yards and felt OK. Hit 8 iron for a couple chips and I’m getting really antsy about a Ping ChipR.

  19. Explain why you chose the model you did and what you'd hope to get out of them performance wise I have always been a Cobra fan and used their products in the past. I still have a 2016 Forged Tec Iron that goes in play fairly often. I believe these Forged Tec Irons will give improved forgiveness and distance to my game where I don't play quite as much and allow me to score better even on less then perfect days. Not to mention they are bloody stunning irons! List your first name/city state (US Only entries) Namie: Jamie City/State: Whichever one of you guys in the US that will ship them to me after I hopefully win What current irons you're playing Ping i210 5-gap and a secret set of irons that will hopefully be coming soon Handicap 11 Will you agree to patriciate in discussions on the forum about your experience with the irons after receiving them. Of course! This forum is my main social media and where I spend the majority of my time online. I would happily dive deep into a review/discussion with any and all members about the product! I'm not too late on my entry right?

I posted the other day about switching drivers, so this was my first round with the new Ping LST. 344, 307, 338, 309, 352, 305, 325, 302, 322 were my recorded drives. Hit 57% of fairways. Now, these fairways are dead flat and DRY, so I got some good run. I did not score well because I can’t hit a wedge from inside 100 yards! I still have serious yips. 81 (43/38)

Ok but seriously, thanks @Golfspy_CG2 and #CobraGolf for putting this together. What a sweet giveaway, and hopefully a nice unofficial review for the forums! Good luck everyone! Played a Stableford today. Felt like I struck the ball better today than yesterday. Putting wasn't bad, but I had far too many that burned the edge or came to a stop just short of falling in. Still didn't score well today despite feeling better about the shots. 43/42. Lot of bogeys (and 2 doubles).

  31. Tough round. Bogey golf +9 (45) with 2 penalties. 6/7 tee shots on non par 3s resulted in either a penalty or a 90* punch out to get back into play……can’t score playing like that! Take away the tee shots and the play was good. Irons were good and wedges were stellar. I had 4 shots of 25-60 yards and my average distance to the pin was 6’….I’ll take that! Tournament tomorrow so the big stick better show up

  34. ... Justin Thomas: “They’re suing me, they’re suing Rory, they’re suing Tiger,” JT explained that the LIV Players who have chosen to file the lawsuit are suing all those they have played in events with and those who have represented the same cup teams. Thomas explained the feelings of betrayal and continued to voice how the lawsuits hurt the Tour that he represents. And the lawsuits themselves make little sense. Justin Thomas remains a stalwart of the PGA Tour voice, and it is difficult to see how things don’t get uglier going forward. Professional golf remains in a precarious position, and there is no way that the golfers alone are this cynical and strategic. The driving force behind the lawsuits has clearly demonstrated that they do not intend to grow the game but rather tear down its current order.

Yesterday Owen and I played the back nine at River Heights. This hole pretty much sums up the round, lol: Nothing felt comfortable, and even worse is I rubbed off on Owen! He had a pair of his own snowmen and duffed FOUR chips after flying the green on eighteen. Even when things went well they were bad; he stripes one down the middle of the fairway and managed to find a strip of grass that was missed by the mower: All in all, a poor day of golf but still a great day overall! He shot 50 and I went 53. We want to get out today but all the local courses have outings so we'll have to let this one marinate for another day.
