Yeah, what it really comes down too in how much benefit or loss you get from really bending a wedge. I know the bounce ramifications but as someone who had wedges bent for my last set and how different grinds and soles might react differently, I just want to get an idea. If it's a great deal difference it may limit my choices to a couple of brands, namely Titleist or Mizuno. If not, it may allow me the best deal I can get to make sure all bases are covered from a performance standpoint by playing with different head styles within the same brand.

I have a ? for @McGolf. I'm thinking about the new Recoil Dart 90 to replace the Recoil 95. Is the Dart better for dispersion over the "normal" Recoil?

Also, I may have to book a fitting and make the drive down to see you.

I am a fan of the DART as I believe it is built the better than the original recoil. That said would there be an appreciable difference. I dont think so.

I haven't gotten too deeply into it.  I'm sure there's going to be some crossover with both, but thus far it's highly detailed even through the peripheral parts.  There's a brief but detailed history to custom club making and fitting, A pretty detailed description of what the goal of fitting is through an analogy with custom clothing, a very detailed breakdown of how to ask questions of a potential customer (in this case great for self evaluation), and a breakdown of what you will and won't need to get started building and fitting.

Its a nerdy page turner.  😆.  Sat down with it last night and by the time I went to sleep I was 35 pages in.  That doesn't seem like much but the type is very, very, very small.  For someone that's been on the ebook train it was a little irritating to have to break out the glasses rather than adjust the type size.  😉

New to MGS!

Recently bought:

Artisan Wedges. WOW.

Scotty Phantom X. Yesssir

Next on the list is irons: Debating between some sweet dtc brands with minimal branding or sticking with a classic like the Titliest MB/CB's which are also fairly minimal overall. Any thoughts?

Ugh… just when I thought my bag was set, the shaft on my Rogue ST Max 3W snapped just below the grip today.

I called CPO, and since they don’t have another one in the same configuration they gave me two options. I can buy a shaft at a local PGASS or Dick’s have them install it (which they will pay for) or send the club back and get a refund. The problem is it only cost me $110 and then another $80 in reward points.

I chose to send it back, but now after seeing what it would cost to buy another new one, I’m having second thoughts. I’m thinking of just getting the shaft replaced.
Thoughts? What would you guys do? The funny thing is, I might be better off without a 3W at all. I rarely use it off the tee, and I stink with it off the deck.

Yeah, I guess it would, or come pretty close. I played the 17* today for the first time, and it worked well.
If I’m being honest though I would love to have one more club in between it and my driver. I was thinking about a Titleist 4W, but with tax it would cost almost $400. No way I’m spending that for a FW.

EDIT

I made a $134 best offer tonight on a new Epic Max 15* with the same shaft on eBay. The seller accepted. That’s the best deal I think I’m going to get on a new recent model FW, and the extra forgiveness will probably help me.
I’ll be out about $25 cash, but get back my $75 Callaway rewards on CPO. Not a great day, but it could’ve been worse I guess. 🤷‍♂️

And I really feel like I wasnt getting ripped off. I've heard plenty of horror stories and i didnt have that thankfully. They actually just got delivered as I write this post. STOKED

Have you tried a Distanza in your G425?
i’ve written about it before in either the Otto thread or this one, but the results were amazing to both me and (I believe) the fitter who let me try it.

I gained over 20 yards, which is incredible for someone who can barely reach 85. Every time I put it against another head or shaft combo I get the same reply… “I can’t beat that. Stay with what you have.”

The closest to it is the Rogue ST Max with an Aldila NVS Orange 45g shaft, but it comes in second. I’m keeping it as a backup though, because even though it’s a little shorter, and  I can’t put a draw on it as easily as with the Ping, it is a dart thrower.

One of the old will stick around as my yard work hat.  Really wanted to get a new Cobra hat too but I don’t care for the new material.

Perhaps I should invest in this. Is it a one time application or something you use periodically?
