Are you happy with current golf bags?

I really wish somebody would make a cart bag with fourteen full-length dividers but no big garment pockets on the sides. Mine are always empty except for the carry strap which I toss in there. It makes the bag look, well, baggy.

If they could do that and also manage not to splash a billboard logo on it as if they were paying me and not the other way around, that would really be great.

I'm happy with my Wilson Staff carry/cart bag. But if you want a true cart bag take a look at the one MG Golf has. $84.95. Yes it has a round MG logo on it. I have a Titleist cart bag that was a $225 retail bag that's the spitting image of this one. MG has high quality stuff.

If I didn't have my U of KY cart bag, I would be gaming the mg bag. I have been looking at it and am very impressed. If it's like anything else they make it is top notch.

I like the organization of that MG bag. I use a Ogio syncro cart bag and really like it, (especially the outer easy access ball pocket for the tougher days) but the circular organization can make me lose club locations kinda easy. I prefer to push cart versus carry, so the strapping doesn't really matter to me. The separate XL putter slot is nice for bigger grips, and I could carry a full 14 with my warm up/swing trainer. The only drawback is I like color in my bags, but you can't beat that price

My bag is nice. i have a ton of pockets most of which I don't really use. However, I have on occasion stuffed them completely with training devices. I'm happy with that. My walking bag I haven't used in months, but that's to be expected as it's rare I can play a walking course around here.

My wife had an Ogio cart bag (not sure what model), but zippers were not accessible when the bag was strapped in a cart.  Several times she undid the strap to get in the bag and forgot to put the strap back on.  Rather embarrassing when the bag falls off when I stepped on the gas.  I don't think we will be getting another Ogio bag no matter how good it is.

There are several really good conventional cart bags out there, and I've got a couple. What I'm looking for, or perhaps thinking about would be the more accurate way to put it, is a golf bag that hasn't been made yet.

I'd like to see a cart oriented bag made more compact by the absence of the big, side-mounted apparel pockets which replace the even bigger back pocket on staff bags.

Belding, which makes truly beautiful custom bags without splashing their logo all over them, has no such animal in its catalog. Which, of course, could be understandable. I may be the only character going who actually wants one!

It seems to me that having a cart bag without side pockets defeats the purpose of a cart bag.  I have a cart bag to put stuff in those pockets; typically rain gear when we travel to other courses in the Northwest where it may rain.  If I didn't want those pockets, I would get one of the larger carry bags so I could have legs for when I head to the range without a cart.

They are expensive, but check out the 2016 Sun Mountain C130S stand bag.  14-way 10.5" top and minimal logos.  The cart bag is not bad either.

Yes, you're right, Ken.  The side pockets replacing the huge pocket on the back is what identifies a cart bag.

What I'd like is a bag with no big garments pockets at all, back or sides. They make them, but they're very small "Sunday bags."   I'd like a larger bag with full length dividers made that way---big, but not bigger than what I need by way of eliminating the big garments pockets which look sloppy when empty.

I don't carry rain gear because I'm retired and can play any weekday without getting in the way of the "working class" on weekends. I don't play in the rain anymore.  (In Florida, I would have no choice!)

As I mentioned, the only thing I ever have in the garment pocket is the detached carry strap which can be kept anywhere at home.

When I am home, I don't play in the rain either.  I live in the desert; if it's raining, I wait 10 minutes.  I keep the strap on the bag in case I need to carry it somewhere other than to a cart.  The only thing I keep in the side pockets is a collapsible ball retriever and a bungee cord to hold the bag on carts that don't have a good buckle.  Yes, there are some carts that are well used and the straps don't hold.  When I travel, I throw in a rain hood for the bag, hat, pants and jacket.  I've only had to use them a couple of times, but if I didn't put them in, I probably would have needed them every trip!  :)

We can always use a new bag.

I actually have a Wilson cart bag that is fairly new with my name on it.  I quit using it when I was playing very poorly.  If you have your name on something, you have to play well enough to warrant telling everyone on the course who you are!

I got a hybrid bag, Sun Mountain, which means it is too heavy to be a carry bag but not enough pocket space to be a cart bag. And for some reason, there are only 14 dividers, as if I am going to follow that silly rule.

White red black it WAS so beautiful when I pulled it out of the box. But alas white and the great outdoors do not mix.

Yes, don't get a white golf bag or a black car.

Respectfully,
DHUCK WHOOKER

You don't want to be Kenny B.  He has a reputation that goes back many, many years.

I agree about white and black bags.  White cars are OK here in the desert.  Lots of blowing dust here, and the Wilson bag is black.

There's a young guy down here where I live whose last name is the same as Rickie F. The funny part is he dresses exactly like him, head to toe puma/cobra gear, cobra clubs and even has his last name very prominently displayed on his huge tour-style bag.

He's at the range or practice green at night almost every time I am, and when he mis hits, I thought he would say " dammit Rickie!" I thoughthe was maybe having a little identity crisis. Turns out his name is Nicky, but just really likes Rickie and his style.

I looked him up and he played well in high school, not sure if he's playing in college, but travels the amateur circuit out West here.
