Yeah, it sucks. Florida actually passed a law to keep us on Daylight Savings Time all year long. Unfortunately that requires the US Congress to approve it. I’m not holding my breath in that ever happening.

I say, F*** the time change.  I would like to stay on Daylight savings time year round. I am much more of a night owl than an early bird, so I like it staying lighter longer. The whole switching twice a year thing, is ludicrous.

Yup an obsolete thing we're still living with. Stay with one time - preferably DST.

Yeah. Not happy. It was dark at 5:30 today with the clouds by early December it will be closer to 4:30. Who gives crap about a hour in the morning, I’d much rather have that hour AFTER WORK!!!

Well you being on the far western edge of EST, get an half hour more light than us. We were dark by 5:00 and by December it will be close to 4:00.

My state is split with the eastern/central time zone. My county is central, two counties that join us are eastern and the other two are central. So, my county is split 50/50 with half on central and the other eastern. Talk about confusing, then add some don’t ever change their clocks. The ones that don’t are on central time from March-October, then eastern November-February. When you ask someone what time it is, you have to ask is that fast(eastern) or slow(central).

Wow how did that happen? Can't imagine how people on the edge of the counties deal with it as they go back and forth.

I believe Arizona and Indiana remain on Standard Time year round. Any state can stay on Standard Time all year long if they want to, if their legislature passes a law for this. However, since Florida wants to go full time on Daylight Savings Time, and would essentially be on Atlantic Time all year, they require Congressional approval for this. Like I said, you have a better chance of winning the lottery then getting Congress to actually do anything.

The shape is more long than tall, we’re one of the states that are divided by rivers and mountains. It’s very confusing if you’re not from around here.

I love DST in the summer.  You can golf til almost 10 in June and early July.  Sucks in winter when we switch back and today it's dark at 4:30-5pm, but it's cold and winter (and no golf) so it's not a huge deal.

So get rid of it all together, nope.  Keep it all year round?  I'd be fine with that.

River, our 8 month old lab, is wondering what the hell is going on.  A Lab's internal meal clock makes an atomic clock about as accurate as a sundial.  Were this to go to a vote at a national level, I wonder how it go down?  I too prefer the long summer days for fishing and golfing.  As @hckymeyerpoints out, winter kind of sucks anyway.

Personally, I would like daylight time year round.   Locally, I have heard that the reason to return to standard time is to avoid having children go to school in the dark.   But then I see children waiting for the school bus at 7:00 to 7:30 AM.   When I was a youngster, the school day didn't start until 9:00 AM, so most times the bus did not arrive until around 8:30 or so.   When I was a youngster, if I had to be at the school bus stop that early, I would have been caught sleeping in class more than I was.

I'm trying to take advantage of the switch back this year by ignoring it. Because I have young children, we weren't going to get an extra hour of sleep yesterday anyway. I figure I'll just keep getting up at the time I had been before the change and try to make something productive of the extra hour during the winter.

I've heard locally, DST helps kids not have to catch a bus in the dark.  But the bus runs by my house at 7:05am.  For the past 6-weeks, it's been dark when the bus comes.  The school day should begin a bit later, like it did when we were younger, and end later in the day.

I believe we observe DST out of tradition and it serves no purpose whatsoever in modern society.  It's time it went away!

DST is more popular in northern latitudes (or southern latitudes in the southern hemisphere) because differences between ST and DST is become insignificant closer to the equator.  DST has been around a long time for various reasons; has been implemented and repealed, again for various reasons, around the world.  It became popular in the USA during the energy crisis in the early '70's because people thought it saved energy.  Places like AZ with the high summer heat saw no benefit, which is why they stay on ST.

Personally, I like DST.  I live on the eastern edge of Pacific Time, so it allows extra daylight to play golf later in the summer.  I can understand going back to ST for the winter so kids have more daylight when going to school, but it still gets dark in the mornings anyway.  Now it will be getting dark earlier when they are coming home, especially if they have after-school activities.

As for going to school when I was a kid compared to today... I went to school later in the morning, came home earlier in the afternoon, and spent more time in class!!  I also walked to school in 3 feet of snow, uphill, both ways.  But I also wore pants to school; never shorts!!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Just saying, you give me the opportunity to vote for a Chicago lyric, I'm going to take that chance 99% of the time. Also, time is a construct for us to measure our mortality, so I try to avoid it at all costs as it reminds me life is finite and we only have so much of it. It can be very depressing to consider that a lot.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

I think part of wanting to stay on DST in warmer (vacation) regions is the opportunity to increase revenue from daylight activities. The more daylight  - the more people will golf, boat, sight see, etc.  We use to spend our winters in the Fl Keys which is about as south as you can get and it still got dark around 6:30. Going to 7:30 would have been much nicer for the activities we did.
