RIP George H. W. Bush

It is not politics for which I offer this post and I trust this doesn't become political in any way.  I write this because we lost a man that leaves a legacy of passion for golf and fast play.   He was perhaps the best example of Rule 6-7: Play without undue delay.  He was one of two Presidents (the other Eisenhower) that was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.  He was honorary chairman of the First Tee Program and chairman of the President's Cup and rarely missed a match.  Mr. Finchem noted that "He wasn't chairman in name only, he worked at it."   His golf heritage dated to his maternal grandfather, George H. Walker, after whom the Walker Cup is named.   He was known to play with Presidents Clinton and Ford and formed friendships with them.  Especially, his bond formed with President Clinton showed that genuine love of the game can bond even political rivals together.  

Again, I only offer these comments because as golfer's that love the game, we should hope peace for any fellow golfer that exhibited a genuine love of the game, promoted the game and showed that the game can be venues for friendship with others, even those with whom one may have differences.

With tears in my eyes we watched the ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda this afternoon. He was such a great American. RIP GHWB!

It was tough keeping a dry eye throughout the entire ceremony. Regardless on which side of the aisle you're on, you have to admire him for his service to the country.

Absolutely right! The world could use a lot more men like him.  A total class act that epitomizes "The Greatest Generation".
