Even if that were the case, for the majority of us who just play for fun and probably arent very good at golf, does it really matter?

...  I can't imagine you want inconsistent results when you make one of your good swings because of your equipment.  I am not saying you need a premium shaft and OEM head but you don't want a knock off head that robs you of yards or direction on a good swing either. There are plenty of cheap used clubs and inexpensive quality components out there.

Really, doesnt anything other than an atomic clock run fast or slow?  I know that some high-end watches nowdays have GPS that constantly adjusts their time to keep them as accurate as possible.

Even atomic clocks lose time.

We can say generally wrist watches are quartz based or mechanical. There are of course exceptions, but some of the appeal of high end watches is the mechanics.  Tying it back to the subject,  people seem to expect that just because it is a Rolex,  it will keep accurate time.

To be fair, any cavity back iron has inconsistencies.  They all have hot spots when if you hit a precise spot on the head, it will hit the ball 10 yards farther than it should, so theres inconsistencies with anything.  I understand what youre saying, that the quality of some clones and knockoff clubs isnt great but unless youre a tour pro who hits it on the screws most of the time, Id say its a pretty moot point.

I disagree. I have played numerous cavity backs and game improvement irons and there’s only been one brand I’ve had “hot spots” or inconsistencies and that’s the current apex cf16 irons.  Every other iron I’ve played I e had consistent distance on center strikes and when missing center the distance loss was consistent

Found myself doing the same thing

I just enjoy comparing equipment to “premium” and see what the best deal for me is. I find it fun!

Seeing this tweet made me immediately think of this thread here:

How much does the one brand logo change the perception of these shoes?
