shaft is very soft, what to do

You really can’t stiffen a shaft from one flex to the next by trimming.  Trimming has a minor effect on flex.  Adding lead tape increases weight and if put on the head it may increase your ability to feel the head, but you said the shaft feels whippy so you are probably already “feeling” the shaft. Additionally adding weight to the head may make it more whippy feeling.

I have a new sr project x cypher shaft in my irons, it feels very soft with some whip to it, how can I stiffen it, add more feel? Just cut it down and add lead tape? Anything else?

We’re you fit for this setup?

Other than the feel are there any issues you are having with ball flight and performance?

I was not fit. Just went with a sr shaft as I am a sr golfer and told by many friends, I have a slow swing.  Feel is the biggest problem. As I am playing with it longer, my performance is improving. But, misses are both left and right. Ball flight is high.

Ball flight is high doesn’t say anything. Alot of golfers think they hit it too high and some don’t hit high enough and others the height is good. Describe what  the ball does once if reaches its apex? Does it balloon and fall out of the sky or does it continue to ride it then have a normal descent?

Two way miss could be the shaft but it could be swing fault as well. Also possible that the shaft is causing the two way miss but without seeing swing and/or launch monitor numbers it’s all a guess.

The bad news is that getting new clubs would be the only way to fix the feel that you don’t like. Other bad news is that nobody can recommend the exact shaft you would need and getting fit is the best way to go
