My little one is still waking up and crying then coming into my room in the middle of the night (Sometimes multiple times), sounds like your little one may be starting to get nightmares. She likes milk at bedtime and when this happens, I will usually get her some milk, try to calm her down and lay down with her in her bed or next to her bed until she falls asleep. It is always tough, my oldest went through what seemed like some nigh terrors as he would wake up crying and we had to snap him out of it which took a few minutes, but he was a couple years old. When they were little, it usually coincided with being more hungry as they are growing, so they would eat way more often. It might be nightmares or some separation anxiety. All I can suggest is a solid bedtime routine, and helping them through it. Never fun though. sixcat
My daughters are both in high school. One senior, one freshman. My oldest is a Governor's School student. It's a regional Magnet School for kids that have surpassed what their local high school can provide. Virginia has 12 such schools scattered across the state. She is hoping to attend Brown University next fall, if she gets in. She is shy, reserved and buries herself in books as often as possible. My youngest is way more outgoing. Her happy place is on stage. She is involved in a regional theater program and attends theater camps across the Mid-Atlantic region several times every year. They grow up very quickly. Enjoy it now because you will wake up tomorrow, and they will be driving a car. You often hear of the "terrible two's" but I would trade watching my daughter pull out of the driveway in her car for changing diapers and temper tantrums all day, everyday! It seems as if we woke up a few days after bringing them home from the hospital and they were strong, intelligent, independent young women. That strength, intelligence, and independence elicits equal parts pride and terror in me as a father. Our two year old just went through a little sleep regression as well. They almost always happen for him when he is close to a new milestone. We have been going through potty training for the last month or so and he's done really well with it, so I am guessing it was related to that. While I don't have a ton of advice for you, it typically only lasted a couple weeks before getting back to normal. It's tough for sure. I go into his room and try to comfort him without picking him up, unless he is very upset. Then I just rock him until he settles down and lay him back into his crib while keeping a hand on him until he's really zonked out. Some people told me it would develop patterns, but it didn't, at least for him. Hang in there! GolfSpy_APH
The Danbrook household is going to get a little bigger. I made this thread to share more Ivan stories and we are excited that we will be expecting baby number 2 in the spring! We have names picked out and ones we like, however we decided that we are not going to find out the gender for this one and leave it be a surprise. Lys felt a little guilty as she wanted more one on one time with Ivan, however we are both super excited to expand on our family and see how Ivan grows over the next 9ish months. He has gotten so much bigger and so much personality. He adores being outside and time with the dogs and although is lazy as all get out when it comes to crawling and just spins in circles he rolls around and has this contraption below which has been one the best purchases we have made so far! GolfSpy_APH
We found this out a month or so ago our community has a tradition of planting a new tree for each baby that is born within the community. It is done as a little event and as a group you plant one tree together and then go to your spot where your child's tree is and plant theirs with a couple helpers. There is a education session about wildlife in the area and why they do it for about 10 minutes as well. Anyway this year there was 14 trees to be planted! A lot of the families we already knew, however a bunch we had never seen before. Our town is only 1000 or so ppl. So Ivan now has his own apple tree with his name and birthdate tagged on it, planted in a great area where we walk by nearly every day! Lys was the only one who could get him back to sleep, calm him and much more. The last week or so there has been a shift. He's turning a bit more to me for much of that especially during the day. GolfSpy_SHARK
Have not been in here in a bit. Congrats Jamie on #2 on the way @GolfSpy_APH plenty of stories these days, my son is 10 and in 5th grade and brings all sorts of funny things every day. Kids are wild. but today my daughter is 100% me….I’m frightened….not for her but anyone else in her life…. I came out of the shower and we have an elf on the shelf (anyone that doesn’t know look it up, wild new Christmas tradition started a few years back). Anyway this elf we have travels to different spots in the house each day keeping tabs on the kids for Santa. Well today he is on our chandelier. Pretty funny kids thought it was awesome. anyway I came out of the shower to our daughter with the swifter trying to knock him off (your not “supposed” to touch the elf, I hate this tradition) so I said “you noodge, you can’t touch the elf!”….without skipping a beat she said “I’m not a friggen noodge….I’m trying to help him down”…. oh she also called a really bad driver earlier in the parking lot of wal-mart a Jack wagon……I have no one to blame but myself….. The elf is the red guy there tony@CIC, rkj427, GolfSpy_APH and 2 others 3 2 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? GolfSpy_APH
Excited that baby number 2 is on its way. He or she (leaving it to a surprise) should be here around June. Thankfully this pregnancy has been much easier on my wife and what we would say is normal. Prior with Ivan she was hospitalized several times. Will be a busy household for sure, but a little chaos is good for us! tony@CIC, GolfSpy_KFT, Tom the Golf Nut and 4 others 6 1 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout!
