When I say I was the anchor for Team Feast Mode, I don't mean just the last to post!  I wish I had poor weather to blame for my mediocre play today.  As a 13 handicap, I shot an 85 at my home course of Key West Golf Club.

 image.png.2225567b79991ee3fff686d5472cd04b.png

image.png.1d314ce90747363488f58fc09844a901.png

I had my first three putt in several rounds today.  The real reason?  An example of two wrongs don't make a right!  My playing partner was slow to get to his ball to mark it and I underestimated my putt's break.  As a result, I hit his ball leaving me about 20 plus feet away to salvage a two-putt bogey.  My longest drive was 190 yards.

Gobble..gobble!

Yes... but I see a zero putt on your card too!!!  That makes up for the three putt!

And by the way - Shout Out to @Golf2Much for running all the scores through a model he built to calculate the best ball scores.  You are the Man G2M!!

Zero is way better than just a three putt, it makes up 1.5 three putts!  Unless you normally chip it in...

I think @Golf2Much's model is a bit faster in calculating the various matchups and courses than the spreadsheet I'm using.  It'd be nice to have something that could pull in the course details and read the scorecards, but that's pretty ambitious for a mini tournament.

Hey Foz,, My score today is an 85. Course HCP is 12 net 73. we played Blue tees.

I had 3 regular birds that netted 3 eagles, and 2 net birds. So I guess that’s 5 birds or better.

Long drive of the day was only 278, I had a few longer but not in the fairway so I didn’t count those.

If @Kenny Bhas a round to pair up with, great.  If not, whoever needs a partner, here's my score from today. Played white tees and my handicap for this course/tee is 8.

It was a round of "RU kidding me approach/GIR's". A healthy handful of right on line shots that came up short.  Thankfully, the short game was making up for it... but oh so frustrating 😡.

Bill, are you sure you want my scorecard from today??  30º and foggy when we left for the course.  Our tee time was canceled and everyone that was there went off on a shotgun start at 10:30... we started on #18.

Final day to get your rounds/scores in for the MGS Forum Member Virtual Best Ball Turkey Shoot!!

Team FoznFish posted an incredible team score of 13 under par net! and are currently in the lead.

We have all the scores above and 1/2 the team score for TEAM Give Us The Bird ( @MGoBlue100 has posted his score - awaiting @MotorCityKitty to post his round).  We also have a few single rounds looking for partners... I believe @fixyurdivot and @fozcycle have played rounds that are available for pairing - maybe others as well.  I am hoping to get a round in this afternoon, and can fill in for anyone that needs a last minute partner.

Lastly, Thank You to ALL for participating in this event and in the Weekly Virtual Tourney - I hope everyone is having as much fun with it as I am!!

@fixyurdivot I hoped today would be a better day, but we had wind last night 25-40mph (actually moved my BBQ a few feet because I forgot to lock the wheels).  Still breezy today but not bad.  We are playing but my scores are not as good in the wind.

Here's my scorecard from yesterday's round at Columbia Point; my course handicap is still 4.  Martha's the one with all the chicken scratches!!  😂  If you want to enter it, pick a name...

Don't think @MotorCityKitty is gonna be able to get one played.  You can pair me up with somebody who's still a single, or we'll just ride our two man best ball with my single score.  (We've ALL had to do that before... 🤣)  Thanks again for setting this up.  We need more of these!

Push come to shove; I have an unaccounted-for round I could offer up if no one else comes forward.  It's not my best, but it would get the team in the middle of the pack (+7 gross, -7 net).  Hopefully someone can post another score for you later today.

I have to agree with you on having more of these.  I've had fun following the scores.   Unfortunately for many (as shown in some of the rounds this week), weather can be an issue and an unfair advantage for some.  When decent weather returns to the North in the Spring (or we have a Florida and other Southern states league), it might be interesting running a multi week, multi team Ryder Cup-like tournament.  I could see a 32 person/4 team (or some multiple of this) event.  We pick four captains and hold a draft of the remaining 28 players.  Team A and B would face off against each other and C and D would do the same.  We could start with a best ball net score team format (2 against 2 times two) with a point awarded for a win, 1/2 point for a tie.  Players would have a week to finish their round.  The next week the captains pick the individual players to match off against one another.  Again, they would have a week to complete and post their round.  The winner of A and B would face the winner of C and D matches for the championship, with the loser bracket playing for third place.   The championship would follow the same best ball and individual match formats.  It would take a month to complete but imagine the trash talking for the weeks leading up to, during and after the event!

I'm cool with that, Foz!  We #PXG troops need to stick together.  I'll leave it up to @Golfspy_TCB; not really right for me to cherry pick a good score.

Even though the weather was a challenge for many of us...

The 1st Annual MYGOLFSPY FORUM MEMBER Virtual Turkey Shoot Best Ball was a success.

We were able to build 11 individual teams and I know I had a blast with it - I hope all of you did as well.  I'm looking forward to running more events like this in the future, along with the Weekly Virtual Championship Tournament for individual scoring.  While not perfect, I think the Best Ball format worked fairly well and hopefully brought some members together that may not have interacted before 🙂 .

Some GREAT scoring over the last week+ and some SIGNIFICANT Ham and Egg play between members.  That is what a Best Ball is all about!!

Low Net Best Ball

image.png

Team - FoznFish ( @fozcycle and @JFish350) LIT IT UP - combining their scores to post Net 13 Under (-13) Par to claim the Turkey Shoot Low Net Best Ball Title by 3 strokes!!  Congratulations to both, and enjoy your Low Net Turkey Shoot Badges for the next few weeks on your profile.  Team - Gravy Train and Team - Give Us The Bird also had strong partner performances with their Net 10 under (-10) scores - and a tie for 2nd place.

Low Gross Best Ball

image.png

Team Feast Mode ( @Golf2Much and @Golfspy_TCB) took advantage of two strong rounds to bring home the Low Gross Best Ball at 4 Under Par (-4), and claiming the 1st Place finish by 3 strokes gross.   Team Feast Mode will sport the Turkey Shoot Low Gross badge on their profiles!  Also posting strong gross scores were Team - FoznFish ( @fozcycle & @JFish350) and Team - Las Persona Mayores ( @fixyurdivot & @Kenny B).

Most Team Net Birdies or Better

image.png

Three teams tied for Most Net Birdies or Better with 11.

Longest Team Drive

image.png

It is always great to have a good partner, and especially one that can BOMB IT!  Team - A Good Stuffing ( @Mr. Mushball & @JFish350) recorded a mind boggling drive of 343 yards to lap the field by 29 yards - and to take the title of Team Long Drive in the Turkey Shoot Best Ball Tourney.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all who took the time to post your hole by hole scores, and take part in this fun event.  MORE TO COME.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Great shooting everyone, especially given the weather conditions some of you had to play in.  This was a lot of fun!

I wish I could say that I was a major contributor to Team Feast Mode success.  Looking back, I contributed something positive on only one hole!  It's therefore appropriate that the words "turkey" and "gross" are on my newly acquired badge.  Maybe my role was to help inspire my partner?  Yeah, that's the ticket!  Anyway, I had fun and I'm looking forward to the next special event.
