Popular Post slash25rc
Happy Friday! A surprisingly quick work week here. I was hoping to play a round at my local club and one of the new doctors my practice hired who is interested in joining, but they are hosting a Junior Invitational and are closed the next 3 days, so will have to find somewhere else to play. Luckily, there's about 12-15 courses within a mile radius that I would deem in good shape/layout so will still get out and play at least. Popular Post Shrek74
Good morning, Spies and TGIFF!!! Another cool and sunny morning. Humidity sucks, but then again the Midwest isn't known for it's low humidity. Quiet week as I'm still hunkered down at home as I wait for that covid incubation period to expire before going out again. Luckily I haven't had any issues to this point and dad is doing way better. Hopefully I'll be able to get through this without any issues. Sadly, no golf this week. Ugh. Well, everyone have a fantastic TGIF!! Popular Post jbern
Good morning! I'm glad it's Friday, but for some reason Project Managers decide to make a lot of things due on Fridays, which means that I'm answering questions from all those people who are procrastinators or overworked (which basically covers everyone). Oh well, having a busy Friday makes the day go by fast. I was scheduled for 18 at 7AM tomorrow, but my wife informed me that she's stressed. I think that's code for "I'm not going to be happy if you leave to golf." We've only been married 14 years so I'm not proficient at her code speak yet. Someday... Like @Josh Parker, I'm jealous of all these workplace golf outings and tournaments that are going on, like @CFreddie's! My company used to put on 6-10 charity scramble outings throughout Michigan during the summer. They also had one competitive 2-person best ball outing. That all stopped in 2020 and hasn't started again. I wasn't golfing much at all pre-2020, so I never participated in one. Have a good day everyone! Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Good morning spy crew and happy Friday! I have a visit to the dental office at 2pm today for a routine cleaning, so little shorter workday today and I am just fine with that as I had two LONG days back to back on Wednesday and Thursday. My wife is headed to Dubuque, IA in the morning tomorrow for a little girls weekend getaway with her best friend. I made a reservation at a nice hotel right downtown and it was a surprise gift for her birthday which was in July. I get quite a bit of time away from the house with golf, annual buddies trip, etc., so wanted my wife to have some time to not have to be mom for a day. Not sure what their plans are or if they even have any set yet, but hoping she has a good time. I am more than likely going to take the boys over to my parents' place tomorrow as they've been begging to go over there and we just haven't had time lately. Between how busy we've been and my folks getting new flooring and furniture, their house was tore up for quite awhile and the timing was never good. Will probably try to play at least 9 at a little 9 hole muni there in town. It's not the best conditions (at least the last time I played two years ago) but there are some fun hole layouts and some shorter Par 4s that are driveable with a good strike. My favorite hole is the Par Four 5th, where the tee box is very elevated from the green as it is cut out of the side of a huge hill. If I get out, I'll be sure to snap a photo. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! So the Wild Buch steering committee had a meeting and I was informed that I will be running the fall Calcutta. This is a complicated event with about 6 different money games running inside the two day tournament. Starts with a blind draw for teams -two man- then in the past two postable rounds. Two ball one day and one ball the next. The guy who runs it keeps it stoic and serious. Yeah that is going to end. The guy running the bidding last spring started at 200 dollars and you could hear a pin drop in the room. Maybe 5 guys out of the thirty in the room actually put out a bid. I will start the bidding at ten bucks. This will liven up the room and more guys will get involved. Then I am going to change the games to the first day is a straight forward two man scramble and the second is two man one best net score. This way your chances of winning a few bucks back increase, the stress decreases, and hopefully the fun factor goes up some too. Life is too short to be tense about what is supposed to be a friendly fun golf tournament. ejgaudette, Byrnzee, Rickp and 12 others 15 Quote Driver Sim Max2 Hybrids G430 2, 3, 4 Irons ZX4 6-PW Wedges Hi-Toe 50, 54, 58 Putter 2Ball Ten ArmLock Golf cart MGI Zip Navigator
Popular Post RonnieB
Good morning, Brethren, We are having a nice day in the NE suburbs of Cincinnati. Wednesday evening I got to play 18 at Maketewah Country Club. Wow, what a beautfiul course. The nicest course I have ever played. It is also the home of the Xavier University golf team and they got to see me in action on the par 3, 18 as they were sitting there watching the golfers. I got lucky and put it on the green and ended with a nice par. It is going to heat up this weekend, but humidity should be low. I hope to squeeze 18 in between football and soccer games for the kids. Popular Post Steve F
Good morning MGS Nation. Nice hot cup of Blue Lady black tea with a dollop of honey hitting the spot this cool Friday morning! I hope everyone is doing well and has some golf planned for the weekend. Weather here is supposed to be exquisite: upper 70's to low 80's mid day, so have tee times set up for Saturday and Sunday mornings. And yes, @jbern, I received no distress codes: in fact, SWMBO suggested adding the Saturday morning tee time as she wanted to go walk/workout with a friend in the morning. I suppose that's her code saying, "I'm heading back to school and want to spend time with my friend Cindy working out in the morning." That code was picked up quickly and acted upon immediately. Golf it is! Good luck in your tournaments @Northern Monkey and @CFreddie! Hit 'em straight and true, nothing but fairways and greens! Have a great weekend MGS Nation! Popular Post Indy_Oz
Good morning/ afternoon Spies! Taking a work break and having leftover brisket from last night's post-league-scramble BBQ. So good... Anyway, aside from work, the golfing intent for this afternoon is a sim session. I'm going to revisit my wedge ladder and adjust my cheat sheet as needed. I'm also going to go through each club (5 shots each) and check my carry and total numbers. As it's later in the season and I was injured early on, I'm now hitting my irons and wedges further than I was a couple of months ago. Last couple of rounds I've carried full shots a little longer than the distances I have established and locked in my head from earlier in the year. Time for a recalibration. I plan on recording my swing with a few clubs too, just to check real vs feel and see if there's anything obvious I need to correct- mainly with driver. Always good to have a periodical check-in on how the swing is looking and performing. I could also do with spending some time at the local range chipping green, as short game continues to need practice. But sadly I don't have all day to practice. Ha ha. Popular Post Jim Shaw
good morning spy's currently camping at Gordon Bay Provincial Park, at Lake Cowichan on vancouver Island, about 1-1/2 hours from Sooke. No golf for 4 days but thinking a lot about face position and how to maximize that... Have a great day and hopefully get some pictures to send... cksurfdude, Rob Person, William P and 8 others 11 Quote committed to performance excellence
