Coffee is just the thing listening to sleeping MyGolfSpouse and corgis, reading forum and enjoying thoughts of golf "out there" with fellow Spies and one in particular @The1C3man for the round we had yesterday in cool but ideal conditions if a good 20 mph breeze/wind counts, we were certain with our golf that we would have no idea what part of the path of the ball had anything to do with air movement. And funny you should give me a segue Josh, we were saying on the way to our 6th tee shots at the green's edge how we could post every one of our rounds as a Meetup and drive everyone crazy about it since we play so frequently - so decided that "Meetup" means with those we do not regularly see so a once or twice a year might classify as Meetup but more frequent rounds would just be more golf. @BIG STU would love to hear the story about the reconditioned push cart Today will be getting to house jobs being the last dry day in the forecast for most of the rest of the week. Grass needs cutting, October air means the air conditioner can be winterized and the patio can begin to be prepared for the winter edition of everything turned into a neat stack covered with weighted tarp where blustery conditions will not disturb what remains outdoors. Hope golf is a part of your day. Ok Per Your request the pull cart story Like I said I had found it on the scrap pile at work. I had reconditioned it and polished it up. One of the "accessories" on it was a score card holder that held like 4 balls, 4 tees, the score card, pencil, pack of smokes and a Zippo lighter. The last part is what caused the trouble. It was someone who knew someone I knew that wanted me to do a classic club display at the MB civic center in connection with a golf show. The show promoted Golf Tourism and paid me $150. Ok so I cleaned and polished up the set of FC-4000 irons and woods and put them in my Tartan Macgregor Staff Bag. The score card holder I had put 3 balata Titleist balls and a score card (Old School) from my old man's course. I had taken an empty Camel crush proof box and put some weights in it. Also had one of the Old Man's Zippo lighters in it. That is where the trouble started. Some woman I guess one of those anti smokers saw the display and started raising holy hell about the smokes. I told her and showed her that there were no "live tobacco products" in it. It did not matter to her she kept on. By then a couple of her friends had came and chimed in. Then Security was called. This Security Guard who had the sense of a housefly came over and told me I had to take the pack out that no tobacco products were allowed in the center. I showed him there were no cigarettes in the pack. He said he would take them out. I told him he did not want to do that he would regret his actions. Then he got a real City Police Officer. I showed the officer what I showed the others and showed him the lighter had no fluid or flint. By then a small crowd had gathered. He told the assembled bunch I was not breaking any laws. Those anti smoker Karens kept on. Finally the director came and politely asked me to "keep peace" to remove the smokes and lighter. I told him ok I had by then had enough. I told all of them to shove it sideways and wheeled the whole unit out to my truck and left. In my true style I stopped by my course and played 18 holes with the whole set up balata balls and all. I did get my check in the mail the next week. In fact a few weeks later I did a display for a promotional thing the golf group my course was a member of put on. Had no problems there on the "smokes" The next year the people (Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday) asked me to do another display but without the Smokes. I impolitely told them where to stick it. I forgot how many years he led the tour in driving distance. As a kid I followed him around one year at the old Kemper Open in Charlotte and the old GGO in Greensboro NC. Popular Post BIG STU
Good morning fine folks. Up kicking WFO as usual for me. Since I have lost weight and on the path to loosing more my energy levels are through the roof. Yesterday I played in the Shootout with my 2 buds I have not played with in like a year or more. LOL we had a blast. Those 2 guys their game has improved 110%. We knew before hand the game was stacked so we just had fun. I was really plastering the driver yesterday and the short irons were on too. LOL I did not get to putt much since I putted last which was ok. Those guys made everything. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Good morning everyone! I'm up a bit earlier than I want to be in a weekend morning unless golf is involved. I think it might have had something to do with eating too much at the buffet last night. I originally woke up a bit after 4 and it took an hour or more to go back to sleep, I just couldn't get comfortable or get my mind to shut up. @Northern Monkey @BIG STU I enjoyed the stories. @rkj427thanks for the photos on Gmail, that looks like a great event and some of those cars are just so cool. I was going to try and play this evening but it looks like a new oven might take precedence. We have a couple of burners that don't work and the burner in the oven is messing up. Popular Post Hickory4ever
@BIG STU, glad that things are going so well, keep it up. I have played 11 days in a row, all walking and this old body is a little stiff. Yesterday was a beautiful fall day and there was no way I wasn’t playing. The weather today is very cool and rainy which will give me a day off and with tomorrow being Canadian Thanksgiving, I will be spending it with family making it two days of rest. Next week will be very busy with three special golf outings playing clubs from three different eras. On Tuesday, it will be 1920’s hickory at an historic golf course with 36 participants. On Thursday it will be our fall Guttyfest playing clubs from pre 1900 with replica gutta percha balls. Finally, on Saturday it will be our final club event with modern clubs which in my case is classic irons with a couple modern metals. I will surpass 180 rounds for 2024 this week which means that I have fully recovered from my serious health issues of last fall. Popular Post rkj427
Good morning Spies on a cool gray, and drizzly Sunday morning here. Popular Post EasyPutter
6 hours ago, BIG STU said: Ok Per Your request the pull cart story Like I said I had found it on the scrap pile at work. This is the best real story I have heard in a long time and thank you for sharing it in such great detail! Almost like being there having some do-gooder self righteous self-appointed ruler of the universe, offended by everything and considerate of no one spewing their volumes demonstrating they suffer from constipation of the mind and diarrhea of the mouth. Sounds like you handled it very much the way I would have been likely to do Edited Sunday at 03:10 PM by EasyPutter readability Rickp, RichL85, sirchunksalot and 9 others 9 3 Quote Derek Verified Hack, ~25 handicap Golf for exercise and peace of mind. Popular Post William P
Good Sunday morning Spies! Well, I survived another day as craft show laborer for the CEO and some of her friends. Was touch and go for a while but I persevered and then enjoyed a couple of Shiners as a personal reward... Today will be a day of relaxation as with temps in the upper 90's I will delay my range visit until tomorrow morning after getting the tourney off and running. will be a heavy session with the driver trying to fine tune my setup. Feel like I am pretty close but need the extra work to get it right. Still loving the GT4! Well so much for the relaxation dream as SWMBO (CEO) has decided I need to assist in the production of replacement inventory for her next show... Oh well, keeps her happy and occupied and more importantly, distracts her from my potential golf related purchases. Hope the recovery from Helene and Milton continues and all affected will soon have their basic needs restored. Hope everyone who has the opportunity to play takes it and enjoys the day. For all who don't get the opportunity have a great day and enjoy your chosen activities, even if the CEO chooses it for you... Popular Post EasyPutter
Good morning MGSpies from wet and cold WNY on this not so early Sunday anymore having slept in after a good long sleep and enjoying a quiet house, hot Sumatra coffee, and catching up on the Forum. Great story to start the day thank you very much @BIG STU and hope your friend finds his way over to join in the fun here. Awesome photos Rob @Rob Person and on the Good Evening Thread from Robert @rkj427, and over on Instagram the HIO capture video of @GolfSpy_KFT, and so many other fabulous social media posts of all kinds from the MGS Forum Mafia. Lending the term from our local Bills Mafia that has an organization of a kind but remains a huge fan base "community" more mindset that is like being a @Northern Monkey (great story about the origin of the name you've made your username ) Yesterday spent the good weather putting the house right for first half of October as we are sliding towards our famous winter weather conditions, grass cut (that will need doing again before it slows to nearly imperceptible growth until next spring), bedroom air conditioner winterized with cover properly secured (that also insulates the bedroom that was 4 degrees warmer last night inside), patio furniture stripped and stacked with tarp weighted and cushions moved to where they are stored for the next 6 months. Had my lunch on the bistro table before it too went to the shed and spent 6 hours out in sun, wind, and fresh air. Thoughts are with those who are recovering from weather events, health situations of all kinds, and whatever is causing a challenge to sense of well-being. Sending prayers and intentions of strength and peace for perseverance No golf today and for anyone keeping track, the last 2 sessions of HOPE at CC of Buffalo are being reworked as schedules and availability became a challenge last week and this week. So more later when it happens. Golf begins again this week rain or rain (as the forecast is rain) and thinking with a partner is preferred as it is likely to be mud ball conditions, with leaves only adds to the Where's Waldo experience. Hope golf is a part of your day cksurfdude, Northern Monkey, Cfhandyman and 10 others 11 2 Quote Derek Verified Hack, ~25 handicap Golf for exercise and peace of mind.
