Popular Post Shrek74
Good morning, Spies!! Happy Monday. Got out yesterday for a round. Turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous day! The morning was a little chilly, but by about the 2rd or 3rd hole it was almost perfect. I felt like I could have worn short sleeves instead of my long sleeve cold gear base layer. But it worked out fine as I was never cold and my arms were protected from the sun. My play however, left much to be desired. Too many chunked or thinned or just bad wedge shots. I bet I added 10 shots to my score with extra wedge shots. These will not be in the bag next year, as I just don't feel comfortable with them at all. I did far better with my Sub70's the previous 2 seasons. So we'll see how my PXG SDii's do next season that I picked up during their "Prime Day" sale earlier this month. Otherwise, I'll need to think about something else. Golf this next Sunday is looking positive. It'll be a bit cooler at 63* (estimate as of today), but it looks to be dry and playable. Hoping to get at least 1-2 more rounds in before the cold fully sets in. Highs below 55* are questionable, below 50* are a no go. So 63* is fine. The aforementioned UA Cold Gear fitted (not compression) base layer works great without being bulky. And as long as the sun is out, the temp feels that much better. Anyway, enough rambling. Need some breakfast. Everyone have an awesome day! I'm waiting for confirmation before I head for Toptracer. But at least I should get home before dark. Had a nice weekend with a trip to a somewhat local simulator to compare the MLM2Pro to a GC Quad to test that accuracy. With more on that to come. My wife enjoyed it on a hike as well which meant I got to have some time to myself with the kids which is always fun. @Northern Monkey Glad to hear the pup is doing better! @Swood1994 Congrats and glad everyone is doing well! @Preeway Hopefully the work day turns around. Popular Post slash25rc
Good morning everyone! Had a great weekend up in the mountains, was able to play the 7 open holes up at Linville GC twice. The course is closed for the winter but keep a hole cut on the open greens. Playing to the middle of the green with no pins to target was interesting--but end up being closer to the hole than you think when you finally get to the green. The weather was pretty warm for late October but was able to clip together some videos for the Galway Bay gear yesterday and hope to upload it this afternoon or tomorrow morning as YouTube put a verification tag on my account that takes ~24 hours according to them before I can upload it to the review. I have some things in mind for some rain testing, since there is none on the forecast for the foreseeable future. Beautiful week ahead before we drive down to Georgia for a wedding this weekend--no golf on the radar but hope to get some practice in this week. Have a great start to the week folks! Popular Post William P
Good Monday morning All! Little late to the party this morning as I had tournament duty early which means up and out the door at 4am returning to the house around 9-10am. When we got the group on their way I decided to take the opportunity to get a range session in which proved fruitful. Believe I finally have settled on a driver setup that is producing consistent shots with mid-high penetrating trajectory. Also produces a baby draw so I can live with that as well. Glad to hear everyone is doing well @Swood1994 and hope you get them home soon. @Cfhandyman your wife never ceases to impress with her talent. More beautiful pictures Rob, @rkj427! Popular Post RichL85
Good morning all. I'm going to need some much stronger coffee to get through the day. It's a quiet day at work, so nothing particularly exciting to keep my attention either, and I can only stare at process diagrams so much before things start to swirl around in front of me. Feels like a day where I'm going to be taking a lot of short breaks just to move around. I should really ask my boss for a standing desk for the office, maybe I can get that put into my office supply budget. Aside from that, the evening is going to be busy with a few errands to run, laundry to finish up, and dinner to cook. My landlord came by over the weekend to take a look at the water sprinklers and change the timers. He saw a few of my old golf clubs hanging out in the garage so I got to find out he's a bit of a golfer too. We've lived here 5 years and I never knew that. Funny enough he mentioned just having bought a new Titleist driver after trying, "way too many" as he worded it. Popular Post RickM71
We are fortunate to have some nice weather near Chicago for this late in the year. We do seem to always manage to have rain or snow on Halloween though. I managed to play the local par 3 with the wife and kids yesterday which was nice. I need to learn to both lighten up and be more diplomatic in explaining course etiquette, such as being quiet when others are hitting, and keeping up pace of play without walking ahead of whoever's turn it is. Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Got out for another session for the Newton test today in the Charlotte 'burbs, about 50 balls at a club range equipped with Toptracer. My back was a little stiff from yesterday's session, which affected my results, but really carry, launch angle and total distance were pretty similar to yesterday, except my miss yesterday tended to be left and today was to the right. Toptracer gave me some garbage numbers too, just like my R10 did yesterday. Case in point: My aiming point today was at an orange-striped post 246 yards out. Midway through the session (I think it was when I had the 3 dot shaft on, but not sure), I absolutely crushed one (for me). Little draw, pretty much straight at the orange post. looked like it landed somewhere around 205-210 and definitely bounced past the post. Toptracer said total distance was 195ish. I was rather perturbed that it missed 50 yards or so. Josh Parker, William P, Cfhandyman and 12 others 10 5 Quote Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb. Popular Post sirchunksalot
I hated being all negative in the previous post but I needed to rant. We got a call from a supervisor or manager and they're expediting picking her computer up again in the morning to try and fix it again. He promised more oversight and communication this time and offered another three months of warranty. I still don't trust them to actually fix it, but I hope they prove me wrong. @Cfhandyman those watercolors your wife did are amazing!
