Afternoon all! Probably the best weekend day this year. Alas, we were celebrating my wife’s birthday hosting a brunch for family. Can’t really slip away for a quick nine holes without being noticed.

Good food, good company, barking dogs, good day at home.

Good morning spies! My second day with old friends who don't golf. With temps now topping out in the 80 region I think I am going through withdrawals. We are going over to Goodyear to see the Guardians play the Reds today in a spring training game. 

@fixyurdivot do you ever take the short drive down to Palm Valley Golf Club off of Litchfield road in Goodyear? A nice 27 hole course that is challenging enough to keep things interesting, it is easy enough to make it fun, and with wide gently sloping fairways make it a nice walkable tract .

And in today's sad ornithological news, Flaco the Eur-Asian Eagle Owl has died...

.. a huge, rare type of owl that was born in captivity and lived in Central Park until someone broke his enclosure one night and set him free - after which he became a social media star when people spotted him and posted pics!

Good morning spies!

Started the day with an early simulator session. Swing has been feeling solid lately and I have a lesson scheduled next weekend that I'm hoping will help even more to prepare me for the 2024 season.

Brunch with my wife this morning and no other plans for the weekend! Looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the free time.

Cheyenne is 6000 feet above sea level and to the west of us we have a 9000 feet mountain range and just west of that is Laramie at 7220 feet, just west of that is Snowy Range at almost 10,000 feet. So the wind accumulates and blasts Cheyenne. To the east of us is Nebraska and Nebraska sucks so that increases the wind.

No, crazy as it sounds, I have not played any but the 4 courses here at Grand since we arrived in Sept 2022.  I had intended to play a few of the courses in Sun City West this past summer but never did.  We also had a round planned for Quintero GC (near Lake Pleasant), this past summer but that got cancelled.  So, other than a trip to Emerald Canyon (Parker, AZ) and most recently to Tubac GC Resort, I have many other local area courses to try.  

Good news is that my new Monday/Friday group plans to sample some various courses during the off-season play... so I'll be getting a start on that list pretty soon.

I've spent quite a bit of time fishing that area... "wind knots" are a real thing there and have nothing to do with poor casting mechanics .

Good morning Spies on a very late start to a normal day for me, but the extra sleep and rest must have been needed as it was quite a busy week with a lot of real-world physical work involved.

Cold again today, below normal temperatures, but supposed to get back to the mid 40's tomorrow, and even warmer next week.

No plans for today other than the normal things needed to do around the house, and then dinner with my son's family later.

Plan to go to Carl's for the range tomorrow, and may get another SIM round in using their equipment.

Hope that your day is the best it possibly can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

Good morning spies.

No outdoor golf planned for today, which is just as well as I woke up to some new light snow and temps back down in the 20s. Doesn't bode well for keeping warm on my round booked tomorrow at 11! Current forecast says at tee time it will be 45, but feels like 35 with a 15mph wind. At least it predicts full sun... . Rechargeable hand warmers are now plugged in, lol.

I have a backup offer of playing a round on a friend's garage sim so that may happen instead.

May get over to Golf Galaxy to try some putters today.

Good morning MGSpies from sunny cold WNY on this Saturday  hot tea for the wakeup and yes it was a long sleep last night, proof the week of new problems associated with a major system upgrade at work for the payroll system took a lot out of those whose job is to help timekeepers and supervisors ensure employees are paid correctly and on time.  Topped off with a trip to Rush NY and the first WNY PGA HOPE Session of 2024, indoors on simulators and indoor putting/chipping green and visit with son for pizza dinner made for a great end to the work week.  Not sure what today is going to include but the sunshine will make whatever it is better

Good morning spies!

Woke up early this morning and my back soreness has evaporated. I did feel it wasn't anything terrible but you never really know the severity until you've slept on it. Spent the past hour finishing up some course work for the weekend. Already packed my bag up with snacks and things, and going to head out to the range here shortly. Rain is not in the forecast for at least a week so I am hoping to get some good on course time in the next couple of days. Until then, practice.

Cool that the golf course is allowing you to eradicate the issue too!  I have .22 Rossie with 25rd extended mag. No can on the tip, but this thing is already pretty quiet. Scinty 9x75 scope with dual optics and night range feature on sights.

It is absolutely true what a school of daisy chaining Tarpon, that look like chrome 55 Buick fenders, does to ones composure.  I'd long read how even the most competent fisherman suddenly cannot find the arse with both hands and thought it was poppycock... nope .

Iam a big Bluewater tournament guy and also a charter capt I run a private boat out of Key West now but yepper Poons are fun and once you hear the gill plates rattle you will never forget it.  The boat in the pic was a 46.6 Bertram I ran for a few years as a busy charter boat. That's my ugly mug next to the beautiful gal on the mag cover

@Josh Parker This my own rub recipe I came up with a while ago, but it is good on ANY meat, fish or even veggies. Make some up, give it a try. When I make it I normally make 3 or 4 batched together to have extra for the next time.

I can take you anytime you want if it's Tarpon you want. Spies are on the house if it's inshore fishing and actually some of the funnest is the salt ponds on the golf course (my yard) there are tons of 10 to 30 pound Juveniles living in the ponds and a #5 fly rod is a riot

Great pictures and fishing! I love all types of fishing. If you are still running your charter, I might have to book you for a trip sometime!

Early morning, late post. Coffee has been consumed and the baby is just about to go down for a nap planning on getting some house cleaning done to make up for the last week. Other than that just trying to enjoy the sunshine even though it’s single digits in temp.

Iam not "chartering" so to speak right now as I took a job as a Captain of a large custom sportfish that travels alot and fishes tourneys but I take buddies and such inshore fishing on the house and Spies fit that bill I would ask in Lieu of paying you send a donation to St Jude

Morning MGS Nation, just planning to vegetate today , feel tired and run down a bit today, going to throw a big pot of Chili on the stove and some cornbread in the oven. Going to watch the Big Break Las Vegas show, I was selected to try out for it back in 1996 but didn't get the call for the show.. bummed out, 

On another note it has started to flurry outside and I'm not feeling it today, maybe some putting practice later, who knows!

lot's of sturgeon fishing in the Fraser River in British Columbia, I grew up in a little town on the river and tales of "monsters" caught for decades. Now it is all catch and release, I am sure the same sturgeon get's caught 10 times a day lol...
