2024 Irons Wish List

This is a companion thread to @GolfSpy_APH’s 2024 equipment wish list, that can seen here:

For this thread, I want to focus on that set of irons that you would own if cost and ability weren’t obstacles. What is the one set past or present that you look at and say

 

For me, there are many worthy contenders. In preparation for this thread I gave consideration to the Fourteen TB-7’s and the murdered out Taylor Made P770’s but the set that I am going with is this:

As the staff’s self appointed blade enthusiast, these irons get me feeling all sorts of ways

This one is easy for me.  

Edel one length in Lefty.  8 iron length.

They have been producing them about 20 min for the house for years. Before they were better known and when Bryson was using them. I have always liked the concept and wished they made them for us lefties.

Wow this one is kind of a tough question to answer! For upcoming releases, I'm excited to see what Cleveland and Wilson/Staff have coming out soon in the 2024 GI/SGI categories. 

If I had to pick one set of irons regardless of cost or my ability to actually hit them, there's a whole range of Mizuno JPXs that've come out over the years that I'd gladly put in the bag.

Excellent topic and so many to choose from. If my ability to hit them was completely removed, I really love the Taylormade P7TW. The milled grind sole is gorgeous, and Tiger's influence on them make it a tough one for me to beat. Tiger was the reason I got interested in the game of golf initially. Sadly these are a fantasy as they are RH only.

Close second and most realistic would be the T100 as Titleist is just such a classic looking iron. Maybe someday I will be consistent enough to swing them.

Purely fantasy, I have to echo @Josh Parker on a set of Edels. I have been drooling over them since the member test this year. Still haven't gotten over @GolfSpy BOS's slight oversight on "accidentally" forgetting to take out that they were available for lefties as well

Have to say, the Edel’s I’m currently gaming.  Going to go in to a fitter with them in a couple months here and get them really dialed in (probably reshafted) and then I’m not looking back.  I mean, they’re just glorious!

IF it weren't for MGS, I would have not known about Edel, nor Takomo Golf.  I've always been attracted to Titleist Clubs - especially their Irons & Wedges.  The T Series irons, by Titleist look so good!  
Having said that, I'd go with the Edel SMS Pro Irons, custom fit.  @Getoffmylawn posted the photo above & a mini testimony of Edel.

The Edel SMS Pro irons are gorgeous and are quite popular here and among the staff. Having seen @Getoffmylawn’s set in person, can confirm they are just as stunning in real life.

I'm not really an "irons are beautiful" kind of person....putters are my thing.    But when I see them I always pick them up:

 

 

I know you said ignore ability,   but I am probably still doing a ZX7 combo set.  

 

if I am going back in time,  it would be some Macgregor irons.   Whenever I would go into golf shops these were the dream irons.  And no, the new releases don't measure up in my opinion.

I have been playing a set of Ping i230's and scoring probably the best I have in years (just got down to a 1, slowly pushing to get back to scratch!) and I would LOVE to get the Blueprint T's in my lower irons to match the i230's (maybe 6-PW or 7-PW). These are beautiful!

I don't need a new set of irons atm, I just got a set of i230's a few months ago (been loving them since they hit the bag) as well as a few other random sets to tinker with (I have a set of Ricky Cobra irons 5-PW and still haven't swung them yet). That being said, I am keeping my eye open on the following:

1) Ping Blueprint T irons (above reply post) to offset my i230's in the lower irons

2) Ping Blueprint (the current model, going to see if I can find a good deal on a decent condition used set)

3) Seeing what Hogan has to offer in their next release since they came back, would love to see a new blade come from Hogan (I love Hogan, have been a fan since HS and still have my 99 Apex irons and my Icons from 2 years ago)

4)Taylormade, if they bring out an updated version of the Tiger P7TW's (probably not but you never know with them)

Easy, I would love to get almost any iron in the Kyoei lineup. The new ones dropping have reduced offset which I’m all about. I’d really like ones with that 5 cut sole just to see what it’s like. So final answer, probably the new dual weight MB ✌

... Mine is pretty boring. T200 and why not some Graphite Design Tour AD 85 shafts.  Every players distance iron I have held in my hand has a top line that is too thick for my tastes. The T200's are the only PDi's with a thin top line and they look awesome at address. I may even order the 5 iron to see if a 5-7 would match well with my King Tour 8-pw.

After seeing some stuff floating around online, I am 100% jazzed to see the new Cleveland irons!!!

The T200 mid-irons are ridiculously easy to hit. If you go this route, I predict you will be very happy with the results.
 

Plus I’m interested in your feedback regarding the GD shafts, so I say go for it.

I wish they made the z forged in left handed.  I would prob have added them for a couple clubs in the bag.

@srooch2 Stole mine! I thought I was going to be unique with Kyoei. Definitely the dual weight MB for me, just enough flair to be noticeable but still has some classic appointments:

So I am actually going to go retro, Cleveland CG1 "Black Pearl" blades from a few decades back. I would put Nippon 120S in there with some ferrules (nothing too wild). These things are so good looking. Might remove the cleveland paintfill.

I'm sure there are a ton of great options that I don't even know about. But I'm going Fourteen & Miura. TB-5, TC-201, CB-302.

Fourteens are probably the best looking of the bunch, but I'll take any of these in a heartbeat. I'm going to hit the Fourteens next Spring in one of my fittings just to see if I could even get along with them. I was surprised at their cost in comparison to Miura, ProtoC, and other Japanese forgings. These companies have some other gorgeous clubs, but these just really catch my eye.

... Slow your roll Cowboy. $110 each for those shafts so they will remain on a "wish list" only. I have too many sets of graphite iron shafts as it is now and very happy with my Steelfibers. But a guy can still dream about being selected to test these shafts right?

The one thing that has been on my mind since the fall.  A set of Wilson Staff CBs, w/ DG S300 and either midsized GP Plus 4s or Jumbo Maxs.  I'd go with the soon to be discontinued current model.   But the new one's coming out next year are gorgeous!
