Kor.A.Door
Thanks guys. You always think about what it would be like to get a hole in one, and then it happens, and it's amazing, and crazy. cksurfdude
There are more things I can practice on the course than I can on the range. If I'm by myself and the course is mostly empty, I can practice those shots that give me trouble. The range doesn't give me the feel of the course, and I hit balls differently there. The range is flat; my course is anything but!! Played a 9 hole practice today because the weather is too nice to pass on. No driver just a 5 hybrid, odyssey X-Act tank chipper, 5 wedges and a putter. Set up camp at a few bunkers and a few bends at the doglegs rough. I used the 5 hybrid for the punch shots and playing the Hagen's low running shots from 140. Trying to collect more data for shots to add in my bag plus boosting my 80% shots profile. Hit some ridiculously high bunker shots practice as well as some full swing flop shots 15 feet away from the tigh lie on the fringe. Had lots of fun with the chipper. Play the last 2 holes in with another member playing with his 2 young daughters they were good little players. I love this kind of practice - I got on the course yesterday after my range session to check gapping between my 6 iron and 5 hybrid. Houston we have a problem there for real! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Totally with you guys! Practice-Play using various lies and situations on the course is much more meaningful and enjoyable than beating balls at the range and maybe practicing the ..wrong.. thing (ie. maybe not really what *I* need to be focusing on; and seldom do that anymore .. gotta save the back and joints for real on-course time!). cksurfdude
Not sure if I can claim a course record: Hit the ..same.. tree .... TWICE in a row! (I mean, really, who does that?!?) Topped the tee shot which rolled just under a tall and wide spreading old maple, on the inside corner of a dogleg, with lots and lots of low-hanging branches. Took out the hybrid to punch out into the fairway but instead managed to elevate the ball .. and into a nice thick branch .. ball bounced back to my left and still under the branches. OK, no prob, another - this time LOW - punch shot thru a decent enough gap and out into the fairway. Bang-o!!! Caught the edge of the trunk and ball caroms off but at least left the tree behind this time and ended up just in the rough on the other side of the fairway..... Chunked the approach (of course!), left me short left in the rough. Chipped it somewhat close and somehow made it a 1-putt for "only" a Double! Next hole, Par 5, good tee shot and (surprise!!) a good second shot but then hacked the third short wedge shot and was still not on; ended with another Double there after such a good start. Second hole after that, short dogleg left Par 4 with a small, very sloped green and arguably the hardest hole on the course (it's a short 9 hole Muni course that's not rated) - I par it. Go figure!! Had a good tee shot, second shot went nice and high and the exact right distance, but .. left it hanging out to the right. Somehow kept a light touch on the lob wedge and chipped it downhill onto the downhill sloping green and left it on the green reasonably close "under" the hole and was able to 1-putt that one. Canucklehead
Congrats Kor! Played 54 holes between yesterday and today. Yesterday I did the 5 letter S word 4 or 5 times. Ridiculous. Ended up shooting 95, but I haven't touched a club in 2 and a half weeks so didn't expect much. Today was a tale of 2 18s. First round, couldn't find the centre of the clubface and all the chips/pitches were fat, but I was putting lights out. Shot 86. The highlight of my day was on the 500 yard or so par 5 with a couple nasty bunkers surrounding it. Crushed my driver, 5i from 190 rolled 30' by the flag, drained the downhill, double breaker for my first ever eagle!! Walked that bad boy in the last 10'. Second go round, I had just teed off on 1 when a couple guys I've play with a few times were just coming in looking for a tee time. So I waited for them and they joined me. Much more solid round of ball striking, putting was mediocre but still not bad. Pushing it way too much, but I have a lesson tomorrow to get that fixed. Added up my front at the turn, and I will never do again. 39 front, 47 back 😒 While I had just putt out on one hole, I heard some of the ladies league golfers comment on this cool caterpillar that must've been on the ground. My friend shouted at them, and I look up to see the last 5' of travel for this RC cart before it dove into a little creek that runs in front of their tee boxes, and the green we were on. She had just left her thumb on the button and didn't look up to see her cart. She didn't believe us when she finally looked up and couldn't see her cart. They're older as well and the banks are steep- 6' deep and top of the banks across is maybe 8 feet. Of course she had her purse and everything else in their so, us being younger guys went over and helped her out. Could barely hit the ball we were laughing so hard the next hole!! Rusty1885
Got a new driver the big bertha fusion, I actually ordered the xr16, the messed up and gave me this instead. This thing looks so funky, I don't know. I'm already a natural drawer and this club has a draw bias so I was trying not to make it worse, ended up blocking many drives. I guess if I want to keep this in my bag, I have to put some extra range time on it. We'll see, if I'm not gaining 15+ yards avg it's going back for sure. Well, it was a good learning day for sure. Started off ok but my good drives in the fairways ended up behind some trees, or have no line of sight, punched out on 4 holes, then tried a bit harder on the approach and got too mechanical. Hmmm! Shot 83 with 3 birdies and an eagle. That makes my round much worse than the score. I'm glad I kept the smile on my face while trying to figure what just wrong. I'm not done with the old man par yet, he and I have some unfinished business to attend to tomorrow. MattF and cksurfdude

Berg Ryman
Got out yesterday to prepare for my last tournament of the year on Sunday. Played my home course, shot +2 37. Really it was about getting an idea of distances as the last tournament in a 4 club tournament. Thinking Driver, 8 Iron, Gap Wedge, Putter. Most par 4's are driver wedge for me, the longer ones I think are driver 8 or 7, par 3's will be tricky with only one of them covered, the other two will be funky driver shots, and Par 5's the goal is on in three and two putt. I was thinking of going 5 iron instead of driver since that's my 200 yard club and would help on par 3's, but it takes away my chances of easy birdies on short par 4's. I'm also thinking maybe 4 wood, 7 iron, GW, Putter. Decisions, decisions. I'm glad I kept the smile on my face while trying to figure what just wrong. I'm not done with the old man par yet, he and I have some unfinished business to attend to tomorrow. Ok. I got my revenge, I went back to the same local muni I play on Tuesday and play yesterday. I stuck with the bb fusion, well I hit 13 fairways but didn't gain noticeable distance on avg but did hit some monster drives on 2 holes. Mainly I think from lack of aggression. I did hit them very consistently in the sweet spot. The rest of my game fell into their place for the most parts. I shot 37-37 for a good 74 round. I put the impact tape since the earlier round so out of the 28 driver hits my impact tape results was great and I'm quite happy with the result.
