Ready to upgrade my shoes, but what brand

I guess it comes down to Spiked or spikeless. But is style or comfrot more important??

I I like the Adidas 360Boost line but after three hip replacements I lean to spikes if a course is wet at all. Spikeless is fine if dry, but my home course has a drainage issue so spikes the majority of the time

I have worn FJ over the years but a few years back tried Sketchers.  Wear a 4E width so that is an issue.  The Sketchers are very comfortable.  I walk 18 four or five days a week, sometimes more.  I get the spiked and replace the spikes, usually once then it's time to toss.

Brand should not matter too much, what really matters is fit and feel. There is nothing better than a great-fitting shoe. The best thing you can do and go and try on many different pairs and styles across all brands and see what works best for your foot. Custom orthotics are something to look into.

True All Day Knit if you prefer spikeless. Great traction and very breathable. Great for walking as well. Also look good off the course.

Anyone have experience with the Nobull shoes?

I played a round years ago in their normal CrossFit shoes and regretted it. Not because of the lack of traction, which honestly wasn't great because they were gym shoes not golf shoes, but because my feet got so hot. Curious if the golf shoes are more breathable though

I recently picked up the Jordan ADG 4 because I wanted a bit more of a classy look but also still pretty athletic and comfortable. The they are really stable through the swing and I don’t find myself slipping in them. I liked them enough to get both a white pair and black pair. I think they are on sale on Nike right now so a decent deal for a great shoe.

I was given a pair of True shoes (All Day Knit 2) and must say they are incredibly comfortable. If I'm playing a course that I don't need the spikes, I'll use them. Absolutely the best spikeless shoes I've used. They're perfect for warm weather. With the "Trueknit" upper you gain breathability, however, you don't get much for water intrusion. They do offer waterproof on some of their other models.

My standard running shoe is a 13-wide. True has shoes that go all the way up to size 15. I have a pair of All Day Knit 2 and they are the most comfortable shoes I own. Only downside is that they have exactly zero water resistance. I will be getting a pair of the Original 1.2 or the OG Tour before my season starts up here in Maine.

I absolute love their All Day Knit minus the fact that they are so bad at keeping water out that my socks get wet from dew. I'll be trying to Scotch guard them this year to see if that helps at all.

I like Nike, but their sizing can be finicky. Some I wear my normal size that I've worn in Nike's for years and others I have to size up a full size. They're very good if you can find a pair that fits well.

I have a pair of Asics that I like a lot. Comfortable and easy for walking.

I have a tendency to destroy my left golf shoes. I put serious pressure on the sole and they detach often. It's happened to Nike, FootJoy, Asics, and New Balance. I'd like to find one that holds up well.

We went and played 27 holes today, but unfortunately I didn't wear the new shoes..I did wear them to the course and home but put my new balance on to play golf.. The adidas are very snug at the point where the bottom of the tongue meets the shoe.. think I need to wear them in a little more and get them molded to my foot before I play in them

wore Nike when i first started b/c they looked cool. recently changed to FJ and haven't looked back. really like the fact that they have wide options since i have stupid wide feet due to collapsing arches.

Agree. They’re very light, but early round cause of dew and wet rounds these aren’t the go. I have Travis Matthew Cuater’s in leather for those days. Used to wear Nike’s that I got for $50 for like 5 years. It was time for an upgrade.

I have wide feet and love my Puma golf shoes - I've had a few different styles over the last few years but they hold up really well. I went the spikeless route a while back and find that I get all the traction I need but as someone who walks the course 90% of the time, needed that extra comfort. The Puma Ignites I currently wear are as comfy as a running shoe by the end of a round so can't fault them and can usually then wear them straight in the clubhouse as look good too.

I've heard lots of good things about Ecco but the price always scared me off (they're super expensive here in Australia). Footjoy are a brand I used to have in spikes and always enjoyed and can't fault either.

Have tried FJ, Skechers, Adidas, NB and Puma. I walk all / most rounds. Currently rotating through 4 pairs of Puma shoes - comfortable walking shoe, nice stability, waterproof. Was disappointed in how my NB shoes wore out so quickly. Adidas would be my 2nd choice based on recent pairs I wore. Skechers were pretty good as well.

I wear nothing but adidas in my everyday shoe. I have about 7 pairs of the adidas superstar in variations. They just fit my feet the best. Nike tends to run a little thin in width for my foot. So for spiked shoes, I have a pair the adidas superstar golf version. For spikeless it's the code chaos. Mostly because if I'm wearing spikeless it's hot and dry. They're super breathable and very comfortable. My spiked shoes are just like wearing my regular sneakers. I could be missing out on something much better, but I found something I liked so I stick with it. I have a set of spikes from golf kicks. I haven't tried them yet because I haven't found a shoe I'd want to sacrifice.

@Haile thanks for the Golf Kicks shout, never heard of these but will definitely be taking a look! Only downside would be that my normal trainers aren't necessarily water proof.

In the UK i just sway towards spiked shoes even though spikeless are probably better looking shoes/trainers. Going to be spending a while choosing my next purchase i think. Debating between quite a few brands though!

Footjoy, Nike, Puma, and Sketchers are my favorites. I've found plenty of comfortable shoes with all of them. I used to be an Adidas only guy, but the last pairs I had were the most uncomfortable and I got blisters every time I walked.

Until yesterday,  I didn't know that Puma made golf shoes.  I talked to the guy about them. He is 6-6" and 280. Size 16 shoe.  He said he tried several top-tier brands, and the footjoys he had lasted 3 months before separation.  Adidas didn't work because of the width issues, and Nike was great  but lacked heel support and only got 4 months out of those.

They were the EVO model, but he said they fit like a glove, and love that the heel part was above his ankle for extra support.

After looking them up, these are on clearance for $49 !!!

I'm keen on the new Puma ones but they are all spikeless which make me question whether they're worth it! Their speed and RS-X shoes are really nice looking and apparently super comfy

I can't say enough about my Adidas Codechaos 22 shoes. They're spikeless shoes that are insanely comfortable, have excellent traction and look damn good IMO. I have a couple pairs of them and am on the lookout for good deals on some other colors. They have numerous color schemes to choose from and do come in size 15.

Having worn size 14 shoes since I was 14–and now requiring size 15 most often as I’ve gotten older—I share your pain.  For years, I found that FootJoys were great but lately they seem to have gotten narrower and I struggle to wear them.  Nike also used to do a great job with large shoes but again I think their lasts and sizing have changed.  The shoes I like the most are Puma and I have several pairs of them.  In some models I can wear 14, but the newer traditional style shoes have me in 15’s and I love them.   I walk 4 to 5 rounds a week and my feet always feel great when I’m finished.  I also have a few pairs of the True Linkswear shoes but the size 15 is required because I find them to run a bit on the smallish side.  I did have trouble with some of their models which had stitching side the top of the heel that almost immediately caused a blister, and another pair that were advertised as waterproof and immediately leaked.  Unfortunately I didn’t find their customer service all that great although I ultimately got a replacement, albeit a different model.  They are expensive.  I don’t know how other writers have found larger shoes in Ecco since they all but discontinued their large shoes over 10 years ago, both in golf shoes and dress shoes.  On the few occasions when I can find their shoes in size 49, I grab them however.  Good luck, but I will probably only buy Puma going forward.  Affordable, waterproof, well made and provide good support.

I was at one point nothing but ECCO mainly because of the comfort, but lately the comfort has been diminished and they have also put on some weight! so no more 250+ shoes that last a season if I'm lucky, wearing Puma and liking them. They are comfortable, have a good grip, and affordable. I will also look at other brands also.
