I just hope the stars align again some day and I can do it again. It’s hard to even explain what that even felt like. If I didn’t take the time to take some pictures for the testing thread I wouldn’t even believe it myself. 
They took my score card but I duplicated it to put in my golf memories book.

I forgot a crucial bit of info. My course removed all the yardage markers this week. I used my laser rangefinder all day. Knowing your distances is key. @Shapotomous brought up something in another thread that reminded me.

I still have the jitters. That was the most fun ever. I'll tell you the 18th hole had my heart pumping and my hands shaking hitting over the river onto the island green. But I managed a par to hold it together.

I was fit for everything in my bag. The Titleist fitting was an outside fitting where they could see the ball flight as well as the track man data. My dispersion was much tighter with the stiff flex. The shaft is 40 grams and the TSI 1 has a lightweight head. That lightweight combination increased my swing speed. The regular shaft didn’t get me in the proper spin range.

Maybe one day people will learn that the letter on the shaft is meaningless; especially since there is no standardization within the industry.  

Maybe I need to go get fit for my clubs so I can score in the 60s

I quit caring about the letter on the shaft and only look at performance now.  I could care less.  I want what works.

I found that stiff means accuracy. I’m looking at getting fitted. Just starting back. I’ll be 65 in 4 months. Probably should step back on stiffness. 
I wonder if golf nut might consider fitting to see if those irons would do him better with a different shaft? Know he only got them set up over phone. No actual fitting by hitting.

  After shooting a 63 and showing pics of the flag hunting results from his iron shots I think his set up is just fine!!!  

Like you mention I prefer the accuracy that a stiffer shaft provides me.  If you went by swing speed and transition you wouldn't fit me in a 6.5 flex for my driver, but i prefer the control that gives me over a 5.5 or 6.0 flex.

I was actually fit by True Spec last season and I carried over my specs. Then we did the phone call and they didn’t want to change anything.

Also, I’ve throughly enjoyed following your vice irons journey. I’m actually a bit sad at the thought that it will end! 
 

My wife is worried I’m going to buy a set… lol. 
 

Will you continue with the vice air balls? Or go back to your regular golf ball?

I have had the irons in my possession the longest of the group. The faces are holding up just fine with no marks or scratches. The forgings are a softer material, so the polished back sides show bag chatter quickly. I went to using iron head covers to help as long as possible. I have much greater confidence in these over the King Tours. 

If I'm standing over the ball the PW, 9, and 8 irons give me the most confidence. Not because the others don't but these are the ones that see the most use. I carry a 5 hybrid and a 7 wood normally. They cover the longer distances that a 5 and 4 iron would for me.  But for testing I have the 5 iron in the bag. We will see who earns the spot after some more time. It's a tight race. The 7 iron is just fine but based on my course it doesn't see a lot of action except for one par 3. 

I do find my thought process is different already. It was just aim for the center of the green and now is how close to the pin can I get.  My margin of error is less if that makes sense. 

Not part of the set and not part of testing is the 50* Gap wedge I ordered separately. This is a flat our performer so far. One round of golf and it proved its worthiness. The full-face scoring lines does take a bit to get used to at first. 

So, you ask if it's too early to say if they are staying in the bag. Let's just say the King Tours are already boxed up for my son. He is ready to come out of his Wilson D200's.

But it takes a while to come out of the honeymoon stage. It took a couple of months to realize the King Tours just weren't a perfect fit. But all signs are very positive and I'm a bit more excited to go play. Don't get me wrong I always enjoy going to play. But there is just this little extra excitement going on. I'm looking forward to finding our potential as a team.

I asked about keeping the vice irons because I thought you weren’t committing to them … and all I could think was damn if you’re hitting these this well how dang well were you hitting your gamer cobra irons!

I will continue with the Vice Pro Air ball for a while. I have three dozen so they should last quite a while. I’ve only had to take one ball out out commission so far. But I’ll switch to something else eventually. Not that I don’t want to play them but. Well this is the reason.

18 dozen ish sitting on the shelf to go through. Then there are these.

The containers are all ProV1’s. The bucket is everything else I find. My son works at my golf club on the grounds crew and brings them home. So many once hits in the rough.  Four golfers in the house and I still can’t get the bucket empty.

The Cobra’s were good but after a full season of playing them I found that the Sub 70 699 Pro’s were better performers in the 6, 7,and 8 irons. In the Cobra’s 9, PW, and Gap Wedge were the performers. So by seasons end I had a split set. I was still playing well but I felt there was still something missing that I didn’t have. These were: better ball height, better decent angle, and a touch of forgiveness that the Cobra’s didn’t have.
These are what came with the Vice irons. When you get what you are looking for you gain more confidence. It’s like you are working together rather than fighting to make things work. 

I look at it like driving a car. I can drive any car, but until you get the seat position just right and the steering wheel the correct distance and angle you can’t really DRIVE the car and get good performance.

No way did I expect the outcome of that day. But It was a day that I will never forget. I’m just glad I keep score the way I do because I didn’t realize until someone made a comment on 17 and I looked.

What you said here is the kind of stuff  I see when doing most wanted testing.  I can “hit” all the clubs but they all preform slightly differently even in the same club classification.  This is why understanding numbers and finding the right fit can provide benefits on the course even for good golfers.
