Intro

Hello Spys,

My name is Tim, I'm a huge golf nut and have been since I started playing 24 years ago. Being an engineer by trade I tend to take a very analytical approach to the game which is a blessing and a curse. Wanting to know the yardage, Strokes gained, F/GIR%,# Putts, any numbers I can get my hands on I'll over analyze and obsess over at times.

Being a father of a 1 & 3 year old my golfing has drastically reduced over the last few years but I still think and start to analyze how I can improve.

PXL_20240430_184753895_MP.jpg.e0bd552dd91cc1658beb71f33569c2a2.jpg

Last year I had the opportunity to test the LAB DF2.1 and although it took a healthy adjustment period it has really helped me get the start line and stroke very consistent (at least I think). My major struggle was lag putts over 20ft, for whatever reason I could not adapt speed very well on those. I would be 5’ short then 8 ft long, (the good news was my 8ft in was so good that I can usually still finish with a 2 putt.

When the ExPutt opportunity arose I was actually really excited because I have seen a few others review it on YouTube and was intrigued. Since I knew on course testing would be limited for me this felt like an opportunity I could really put some good time into since I can just putt when I have a minute if it's after bedtime, during naps, or during an enthralling Work From Home zoom meeting (don't tell my Boss).

I have a decent basement setup with projector, impact screen, and R10 so I'm hoping this pairs nicely with being able to practice more putting in the safety of my Man Cave.

What I'm looking forward to with the ExPutt/criteria for the bag? So ideally if this gives me more information and I can see differences in how different putt strokes impact the ball, understand where my weaknesses are and give me an opportunity to fix them that's my benchmark, if it can motivate me to practice putting more and gamify my practice then I expect gold stars.

Hello everyone,

My name is Briar and I live in Post Falls, ID which is pretty close to CDA. I have been playing golf now for about 4-5 years and so far, I have enjoyed it very much. I currently work for a Geo-Engineering firm as a lab tech. Lucky for me some of my co-workers are also into the game, however my wife is not intothe game by any stretch of the imagination. She even has a sweater that says, "In My Widow Golf Era". We went and saw Blink-182 in Washington State in mid-July which was pretty frickin' awesome.  I am a higher-handicap player, but I typically feel pretty comfortable on and around the greens. Its getting there the hard part haha.

About Exputt specifically, I am pretty curious how this product will actually translate to the course. From doing some research on Youtube about the product some things that I am looking forward to are, adjust the stimp rating, specific courses, and how well the censor can read my putting stroke. Some other observations I have made are, the mat isn't all that long, it could a bit of a chore to set up and take down, and it can be a helpful if practiced/used correctly. I don't know much more about this product, but I am genuinely excited to test and give an honest review of this product. I think if the censor works well and if I try to better understand the stimp ratings on the courses around me it could me tremendously.

To close this introduction, I am excited to try something new that is advertised to help lower putting strokes throughout the round and better help taking in different undulations on the green. I think this product will help with pacing on the greens and help me better lag putt by showing me stats about face angle, in/out stroke, and putting path. But I am the most excited because I believe we will have a competition among the testers and I want to see how good I really am.

Previous to the Exputt opportunity, I have used the True Aim device and alignment rods. What I have liked about this is the simplicity of it, however it only helps with hitting the ball straight through impact. So I am looking forward to the other metrics that Exputt uses to help with putting.

First Impressions 7 out 10

Unboxing the Exputt, my first thought was "wow Exputt must train their product boxers in Tetris." Everything was really compact and bags were labeled which made it easy for me to unbox and set up the product with ease. I do wish they sent a taller tripod instead of the tiny they provide. I do understand that cost wise it doesn't make sense to send a 4ft tripod but when the directions say the minimum height should be about 2.5ft, I found myself getting creative in box stacking to get the right height. When I do put the product away, I do find it mildly difficult because of how compact everything was coming out of the box. As we all know, putting things away isn't as easy as taking things out of the same box.

Aesthetics 7 out of 10

The images on the game are clear and easy to understand. The gridlines are pretty basic, but then do I really want fancy gridlines in a game? The putting mat is easy to understand, I try to use the "helpers" on the mat instead of the remote, but I found trouble in doing so. I feel ExPutt does a good job of trying to consolidate the camera and mat. I found that rolling the mat took a few trys to get back int the bag as tightly as it came. Overall, I feel that the aesthetics of the product are what you would expect coming from a technology item.

EXPLORER MODE

I don't think the Explorer mode is really for me. I do find it to be a nice feature that I can move the pin around. I can imagine playing at home with a friend on this setting and playing a game of HORSE or PIG with it. With moving the pin around a green that is showing different tiers or slopes within the green, I can too easily move a pin that is not realistic or not makeable. This practice mode is not for me and I do not recommend it.

20240826_194157.jpg.f4daf05088b35f0bbc2a07094953f200.jpg

I can move the pin around by using this button while in this mode.

20240826_194208.jpg.3cf5e5862ff857f844a69e4c2466abfb.jpg

The pin is the red highlighted and the white dot is the ball. Each can be moved around the selected green to either make a challenging or something a little easier based on preface and experiences from home courses.

Introduction:

Hello all, my name is Wolfgang.  I am 53 and live in the Pacific Northwest.  I have 7 kids.  Their activities were my priority for the past 30 years.  That left little time for golf.  I played 2 or 3 times a year at family reunions and work retreats.  Last year my oldest and youngest sons took an interest in golf.  We started playing together more frequently.  That ignited my golf obsession.  For the past 20 years, I used a set of hand-me-down irons from a friend and a Big Bertha Steelhead III I won at a conference.  I started this year researching golf equipment.  I discovered MyGolfSpy and found a lot of great info that helped me make overdue gear upgrades.  With new clubs in the bag, I am getting out to play golf once or twice weekly and improving my game.

IMG_3435.jpeg.090cf05ae26c6175dfba506431849dc3.jpeg

There are some exciting testing opportunities announced this year.  Very few of them are a good fit for where I am at in my game this year.  The Exputt RG test is the perfect fit.  I am very aware of the strokes I am losing to bad putting.  I signed up and posted on the signup thread.  With over 3000 signups and only 4 testing spots, I didn’t expect to be selected.

Putting is currently the most sporadic part of my game.  I want to see how many strokes I can gain back by using the Exputt RG as an at-home training tool.  Can I improve my distance control and reduce over and under hits?  Does the Exputt RG help me improve at long, medium, and short puts? If the practice on the simulator translates to improved golf scores on the course, then the test will be a success.  I plan to involve my two golf-playing sons in the test to see if we can improve our putting game.

Thank you for this opportunity to test the Exputt RG.

IMG_3472.jpeg.3e9b0797295bb7977bc1df7c571736a3.jpeg

First Impressions: 8/10

I think this simulator is going to help me improve my putting.  After just a few days, I am improving my distance control and the consistency of my putting stroke.

Pros:

  • Easy set up
  • Quality mat
  • Does not take up too much space
  • Easy to roll up and put the mat away when not in use
  • Nice storage bag for the putting mat
  • Cables included
  • Easy-to-understand metrics
  • Seems very portable
  • Remote control

Cons:

  • The tripod is shorter than the required minimum height for the camera
  • The music and sound effects aren't great (I muted the sound as it is not needed)
  • Using the putter as a controller for hints and aiming.  The idea is great but it was hard to get it to work all the time.  I ended up just using the remote as it is much faster.
  • When playing with others at home I would like to be able to select a 3 or 6-hole game rather than only a 9-hole game.

Congratulations testers! This one is really cool! Hopefully it’s a good as advertised.

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.
