    Happy thread

Feeling pretty proud of myself. Started (officially) in a new role this week, and my employer did a profile of me for their social media. https://www.facebook.com/BarwonHealth/?__tn__=kC-RH-R&eid=ARAM9FnQGbF_0tlqymNm0OgThfbIjedKhQLVVIS-NOpyXyU7TTKrUV41USdOiOmHCFbwgoFgGncs4iK5&hc_ref=ARRF-kWeHEZBdclHK_YFfwSFSdHONt_nZkGqMWt0oaCrzKSDXLwdf1kCFn-lP2zdPpg&fref=nf&__xts__[0]=68.ARCfAXTPwDgvSdVadumGuDy78KB_Z1WjCH6xdnb2FixGFvaapLcvpNbICqTBmcLJumUVMEy5vQvZWsL9nyc9mwa4LGqmC8Sd7hIGVwYbrTJg-tac1P4jy8gxb2bD08dYLBXATOqOH7OnhUtigp8XOOduuB6q8IbmYidSRgbN914pTyRoKToyPnDmBatDtS8Xwc8iyS6Tr74Lh2d4SJdVsm4lWB-nPz5TnwGHt4sPIygMwdVDKRGGtRYNjHhohtCq8bhQfoW0IEWtVlwoWCBEAFfE38YSdMqBixGNj2kIezF6kOaK3w8hq7WHfSMPVqX6hnEyg3HBAi_280Nqebm-EGjhwPg2zwMoxwm1cQg5sOgqzXw Apart from me not thinking my hair is as red as the picture, I'm pretty pleased with how it came up.

    How'd you play?

Got out for 18 today and more B X testing. 36/47 for an 83 8/14 FiR 10/18 GiR 34 Putts After playing even on the front with 2 birds and 2 bogeys and feeling really good. I hooked one OB onto the street on #11 for a quad, and tripled #16. What a dumb hobby, haha!

    Got Problems?

I’ll be tied up for the next week. I still owe you guys some stuff on the Blueprints. What I’m currently dealing with at work has occupied almost every day of the week since December 1. Was expecting to be done today, only to run into a bigger, more problematic issue. I can’t defeat this dang thing yet. Nearly there, so for now, please accept my apology for slacking lately.

    How'd you play?

Played my first round for 3 weeks, weather was a bit of a challenge, with light drizzle making it particularly difficult to judge the speed on the green. Shot 12 over, highlights were making bogey after hitting my tee shot OOB and holing a bunker shot (unfortunately it was for par) Drove ok, with 2 bad drives that cost me shots, and irons were pretty solid. I really need to get out on the course more.

  6. Played 18 today and continued to see a lot of what I've been seeing: Ball seems a little longer Doesn't feel as "sticky" around the greens as a V1X What I also noticed today is it seems like a more "boring" or flat flight compared to V1X. I was 2' from an ace from 165 out, probably would've guaranteed a spot in my bag if that happened. Felt like a jerk because the guy we played with hit one to 4' right before that, and I put it inside of his, whoops!

  9. I personally don't see a debate. What's there to debate? If you like playing a white ball so be it. (I do) If you prefer anything else - have at it. A debate might be approprite if perhaps the USGA were banning the white ball or a colored one. But they're not. Carry on and have a nice day.

  11. Yup. Drivers, woods, hybrids and irons were 5 years. Wedges were 3 years. No mention of putter in the contract. That being said - if the purchase is funded by gift cards and selling two extra clubs I have laying around, then it's no money out of pocket either

I gotta say, for winter time this place is great. I get to hit balls, work on distance control and ball contact. This got me to thinking. How do the Topgolf balls compair to my Bridgestone TourB RX???? I the spirit of"Find it cut it", as I was leaving one day I happened upon a wayward ball out in the street. Size and weight were exactly the same as my Bridgestone. So I just had to cut it open, here's what I found...

  13. ... I think I posted this earlier but it is worth repeating. The "new" ball spins less off woods enabling players to hit it higher and farther. The old 4/5 woods with the higher spinning ball launched high with a lot of spin and could balloon or just lose distance compared to a 3 wood. Of course high swing speed players can still take advantage of todays 3 wood because even with lower spin, they can launch it high enough to maximize performance. But slower swing speed may not be able to launch a 3 wood high enough with a lower spinning ball and they can maximize distance with a higher launching 4/5 wood and can hit it even farther than a 3 wood.

  19. How long have you been playing golf? Since 1977, when I was 17. What’s your handicap or normal score? Averaged 41 this years in a 9 hole league, 75 is good, 85 is bad. What do you love about golf? Out-driving my brother. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Saw it on Youtube. Do you already know any other Spies? No Where are you from? Rochester, MI What is your home course? Don't really have one, but I play at Copper Hills, Stoney Creek, Blackheath, Pine Valley, Glacier, Orchards, Greystone What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Great, plush fairways but slow greens. Then there is the weather, which is bad from Dec-March. What do you do for a living? PLC Programmer, who is at the end. How’d you pick your user name? Slow is how I walk up stairs, low for my stomach. Has nothing to do with my takeaway with the driver. This is Carl's Golfland, a few years back, this is how some of us practice golf in December.

    How'd you play?

Must have had an “Alien Possession”. After a couple weeks of dismal play shot 3 over 1 double & 1 bogie. I switched out the G410 irons and replaced with the Mizzies. It wasn’t the irons fault just from tempo & swing plain. No bacon for me this morning!! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  25. Okay we are back in the rainy season here in Georgia so I thought I'd do an update. First off the suit is holding up well no rips, tears or other issues, in fact, it still looks brand new. I wear the jacket everywhere when it's raining out and still find it very comfortable. I wore the pants as pants for the first time 2 weeks ago, previously I had worn them over golf shorts, and they were quite comfortable. We played on a particularly swampy day and a few swings threw mud all over me, which easily washed off with wet cloth after the round. So almost a year later still loving the Galway Bay rain suit!

    Luxury Headcovers?

For what you could pay for a new driver spending $200+ for a high quality leather head over could seem like a bargain. Also consider the headcover will probably outlast numerous drivers over its lifespan.

  31. I am here!!!! Too bad I can't do pics anymore old putters you say? How many gigabytes or what ever does MGS have? NRJyzr saw your Mills. I had always wanted a Mizuno TP Mills #2 and Christmas week I did a trade deal for one. Have a plethora of Spalding TP Mills. Ok in the last 3 weeks I found 2 other vintage putters on the piles A Otey Chrisman Calamity Jane Bobby Jones style with original hickory shaft and Neuman leather grip in pristine shape someone had this one put up but it somehow ended up on the scrap pile. A Macgregor IM 5 Ironmaster reproduction with the green shaft. When I first spied it I thought I had hit my holy grail which would be a 49 Ironmaster with the green pyratone shaft. It had enough rust on the head. The shaft has me puzzled it seems to be graphite but stiff as rebar . Now it was sorta rusty but cleaned up nicely with elbow grease and Bar Keepers Friend. Has the original Macgregor Neuman leather grip on it too and it cleaned up nice. This putter is a puzzle to me> I have seen quite a few on E - Bay but none with that shaft. NRJyzr--- I have a Ram Gene Littler which looks like a cross between your 2 Ram putters----- I am a sucker for 8802 styles but believe it or not do not have a Wilson 8802 in my stash. The closest thing I have is an old Cleveland Designed by and a Little David 8802. I even have 3 Lynx versions including a newer Black Cat with the insert. I traded for the Black Cat a couple of weeks ago believe it or not I traded an old Ram Zebra and a Zebra look alike Harley Davidson branded putter for it. Ironmasters I have a bunch of in different versions and years but do not have that unicorn 49 with the green shaft. i more than likely have over 100 putters but hands down when it is on the line I love the rusty lead taped Scotty in my signature which by the way is a junk pile find too. One of the Scotty experts on WRX dated it as a 1997 vintage One other thing I forgot I have about 10 Bulls Eyes from all vintages and have more than likely given away 20 or more

  36. I put all of my grips on using air. Putting some grip solvent in the end right before install really helps. It gives you a little bit of time after the grip is on to do some small adjustments to alignment. The downside is you can't play with the club right away.

  37. _1580.JPG] I’ve decided to try hitting balls some during this round of SuperSpeed workouts. The first time I didn’t have my radar with - this time I did. Looks like me speed is coming back as this is where I was at on the radar after my second jump. As a reminder I was at 84.5 on track an when I was a part of the G400 driver fitting group in the Spring of 2018. Since then I’ve been in a fitness program - lost 40 plus pounds that I’ve kept off, done the SuperSpeed test but also gotten two years older at a time of life when it matters (I’m now 63 and a half). Granted the radar measures a bit faster than trackman but this drive was a bomb (for me) - I wish that I had my Swing Caddie with - I was hitting past a flag that was 241 with very little wind. I did get through a bucket with success.. the back of the range is 200yds. hit several high up on the net at the back of the range with Driver Kept all but a couple in the " fairway".. hit some very nice irons.. all in all felt really good considering I'm hitting range balls off a mat in the drizzle.. I am soo ready for the weather to warm up..

Yeah, I have zero interest in spending $2000 on getting numbers that are “close” to realistic. The purpose of a “simulator”, to me, is to get accuracy in my numbers so when I go play I know my distances. It doesn’t do me any good to use these then have different distances I’m hitting shots on-course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Milwaukee isn't very big but our winters are very long and cold. The $55/hr place will die quickly if they try to charge those rates during the warm weather months. There are other places that use cheaper simulators and only charge $35/hour to play. We'll keep those places quite though so it will be easier to justify to my wife that spending money to drywall the garage and buy a Mevo+ or Skytrak is a good idea!

Yes, I'm running into that problem as well. Peak rates are now the same here, and I'm not willing to take time off of work to get the $35/hour weekday morning rates for simulator golf. As I mentioned further up in the thread, I'm also getting sick of sinking an hour into driving somewhere when I want to hit balls in the winter. I don't have an insulated garage either, but unless it's really cold outside it hangs around 30-40 degrees. I'd just need to be able to get it to 50 degrees to be comfortable, which I think I could do with a propane space heater (and a carbon monoxide detector for safety...). From the reviews I've read/watched on the original Mevo, as long as you use the dots on the balls when indoors, it is reasonably accurate. I love that this has the potential to be used both indoors and outdoors, because I know the SkyTrak cannot handle sunlight at all. The earliest I could think about purchasing this would be late summer, so I'm sure some of the early reviews will touch on indoor use before I commit to buying.

  45. Is it a TruGolf system with the three IR light gates in the floor? If so, I would be tempted to believe the club head speed. It will be a calculation, albeit a simple one, as the lights are presumably a known distance apart so all the system has to do is measure the time between light gates and calculate speed. I suppose it's possible that lights are not the correct distance apart, in which case any errors are going to be amplified at higher speeds.

Very interesting. I am also keeping an eye out on new monitors that come out. Skytrak is currently at the top of the list, but I'm surprised there hasn't been an update to that technology. Seems like the sub $500 range has expanded more and more, but there is not a lot of competition in the mid level. By that I mean, monitors beneath your super professional level trackman or GCQuad types.

  48. I recently bought this analyzer - Arccos Caddie Smart Sensors. The advantage of this analyzer is that it fits most clubs, which is very good for me because I often test different clubs. Also pleased that his battery is designed for five years. I do not know how true this is, but the manufacturer claims that it is real. I decided to buy such an analyzer because most of the reviews about it are mostly positive, and the price pleased me.

  49. As a novice golfer I am looking for a swing analyzer. The Zepp 2 and SwingByte both seem like good options that are still supported. Zepp has two advantages - ease in switching clubs and ease in a quick interpretation. I have this belief that SwingByte will be more accurate for speeds and club face due to its' placement on the club. I will be using an android phone but I don't believe that I will try to download instructional video at the driving range or course. What compelling reason is there to choose one over the other? Are there any sensors that go on the end of a club that are actively supported and full featured like Zepp and SwingByte?
    1 point
  50. Aside from Swingbyte (which I have not tried), Zepp Golf seems to still be making updates. I used to own a Sky Caddie Sky Pro swing analyzer (similar in many respects to Swingbyte and provided good data), but it was poorly supported - I've come to realize this about several of their products. It does seem like innovation in this particular arena has stalled. Seems like everyone is now looking at how to integrate other already existing technologies into their apps rather than chasing technological advances in equipment. I imagine there's not much more that can be done in this segment. Personal launch monitors will be the way to go for more data and improved accuracy, but we're still a ways off from having something truly affordable and accurate.
