If you are traveling on 45 south to Huntsville, do yourself a favor and stop at Woody's (on the east side of the freeway, there is one on the west side as well). Pick up some jerky and other snacks. Their BBQ is pretty solid as well. Bucee's is a little hectic at times.

Man that stinks!  I almost had this little excursion fall apart on me as well.  The wife insisted on having a girls weekend while I played, only it's happening in Dallas.  Problem is she doesn't drive, so I'm taking her to Corsicana to meet one of her friends before heading to Huntsville.  Won't be getting into town til about 7:45-8:30 for a later dinner.

Course was a little wet this a.m., but very playable. Bring your long game, though.

I have my bag set up for this course, if anyone is actually interested. 

 

Driver is my normal Titleist 910D3 with a Mayizaki C Kua 39S shaft.

 

Basically, the only change to my regular bag set up is the fairway metals and hybrids.  My normal FM is the 913F set to 16.5* on a Project X PXv 52 S.  Since I will not be hitting 3 wood off the tee, and while this is pretty good off the deck, I have a better solution. I often carry my Rescue 11 18* on a KBS Hybrid shaft.  I really like this shaft but feel like I will need something to hit off the deck from long distances, longer than I normally hit a hybrid.  So in comes the Hybridstein.  Here I screwed in my Motore F1 85g out of my R11 3 wood and now this baby plays 42" long.  It is great for long range off the deck and not as finicky as a FM. 

 

I also had to add an Adams Pro Black 23* on a Diamana Blueboard shaft.  While this may be a higher lofted hybrid, I put it on a longer shaft.  The higher loft gives me more playability off the deck and the longer shaft give me extra range.

 

Then I have my standard set up.  Currently, I am using Ping S56 4-W on C Taper shafts and Callaway Forged Copper 52, 58, and 64 degree wedges.  I considered dropping a wedge in favor of hybrids but in the end decided that realistically, I will be hitting less GIR because I am firing from farther out.  The more greens you miss the more options the different wedges give.  Also, the putter is Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5.  This is my winter putter and is German Stainless Steel.  The Coronado is nice weather putter with a carbon steel head.  This head requires more attention to keep from rusting and getting banged up and I don't want to mess with it here.  

 

As I showed in an earlier post, the bullets I plan on firing is the Callaway Hex Chrome.  This is the first time I have used this ball and only tested with a few before I bought these.  I seem to like them just fine.

 

I also have the butt end of the KBS Hybrid shaft for the Rescue 11 in case I opt for that.  You can see the Best Grips Tan Micro Perforated grip on it.  This is the grip that is on all my clubs, except for the putter which has a tan Major Leaguer.

In a word. Fun. Meet and greet last night after practice round for 4 of us. This is a great bunch of guys except one. You know who you are.nnNot really we have not met TxGolfJunkie yet. I am not sure when he got here. But it is about time to get started. Rain probably tonight but should be ok for today.
