The Temperature is 56* at 8:15, warming up to 80* today. It's a bit foggy at present . You cannot see more than 150 yards!

There was no Ranger today so I had to go out to the course and get a group to speed up play. They teed off at 8 min intervals yet by #6 there were three open holes.

 

I approached them and politely said that since they did not buy the course for the day they needed to speed up play. Then the group behind them was a hole behind as well. This left three groups twittering their thumbs on #5. So I circled back around to #7 fairway and observed their play from a distance. That's when one guy came over to me and started blasting me for telling them to speed up play. He said "there was nobody waiting on them so I had no right to tell them to speed up.". I simply told him that he should not pay attention to the group behind him, rather he should not let the group in front go out of sight. They had almost a 3 hole gap.

 

I observed them from a distance for the next hole then returned to the starter shack.

 

Another shift completed.....and that's my View from the Starter Shack.

There was no Ranger today so I had to go out to the course and get a group to speed up play. They teed off at 8 min intervals yet by #6 there were three open holes.

 

I approached them and politely said that since they did not buy the course for the day they needed to speed up play. Then the group behind them was a hole behind as well. This left three groups twittering their thumbs on #5. So I circled back around to #7 fairway and observed their play from a distance. That's when one guy came over to me and started blasting me for telling them to speed up play. He said "there was nobody waiting on them so I had no right to tell them to speed up.". I simply told him that he should not pay attention to the group behind him, rather he should not let the group in front go out of sight. They had almost a 3 hole gap.

 

I observed them from a distance for the next hole then returned to the starter shack.

 

Another shift completed.....and that's my View from the Starter Shack.

Our starter is just showing up for the year.  He was there last weekend.  He's 82 years old, and was a scratch player in his day.  Last year, his daughter rode around with him for about 6 holes and he hit shots from 150 yards and in.  I watched him play, and he is still good; just doesn't hit tee shots anymore.  I'll grab a picture this weekend.
