Lost but not forgotten

It happened to me. My trusty 7 iron has gone missing. I have put up missing posters around the neighborhood, I took out a radio add. I even joined facebook just to try and find it. But for the first time in my life, I have lost a trusted friend.

 

It has been a week now, the sorrow is still fresh. I have called the course where our paths departed diligently at noon every day. And every day have been informed that it has not returned. 

 

This is only more distressing because I retrieved someones left behind club that same round and carried it through 2 hours of rain and wind to return it to the clubhouse so that it could be reunited with its partner.I wonder what life my 7 will lead now that it is out on its own. It was part of a family, and now it is probably on a drunken bender in some nefarious den of heathen worship. 

 

If anyone sees a Ping i200 black dot 7 iron, dressed in an Iomic black grip. Please ask it to send me a post card, text or email just to let me know it is okay.

Wow, that was a very moving post. So sorry for your loss. I would be heart-broken if that happened to me.

I had a whole set of clubs taken a while back.Left it on a cart while I went in to have lunch after 18.Came out, and the cart was in the middle of the parking lot completely empty

Had to be a maintenance worker - I can't imagine a golfer stealing someone's clubs.

Not sure if sarcasm as there's no shortage of sticky fingered scum bags out there. I always make it a point to leave my clubs in a place were I can keep an eye on them and never close to the parking lot out of fear of them easily being swiped. 

 

Had to be a maintenance worker - I can't imagine a golfer stealing someone's clubs.

I'm very sorry to hear this. How old (in 7 iron years) was it? Sometimes when they get old enough, they feel the need for independence and just move on to test themselves. Just be confident that you raised it to make good decisions.

Happened well before cameras were installed at many clubs because of situations like this.Was a very upsetting day and season.Some say it was a member (s).Was at a very exclusive country club during a invitational.Can happen anywhere really and could be anyone

I'm the same way. I do believe the majority of golfers would take it and return it, but I know far too many that have lost Golf clubs that were never returned. My cousin even had his rangefinder and money clip stolen from his golf cart while he was 10 feet away on the putting green.

This is ridiculous. Who finds and then keeps someone else's 7 iron?

 

I'm very sorry. I'm reasonably certain you can find another Eye 2 7 iron on eBay. Those were the most popular irons ever made. I remember going to a US Open in the mid 80's where half the field was gaming them.

Touch wood, I haven't lost anything more than a putter cover on the course. Have always been told to put clubs down on the green between the hole and my bag, and always take my bag to the range/practice area.

That's what I do. I either put them where I have to step on them to leave the green, or right next to the stick so when that gets picked up you can't miss them.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't have used it around a green, so really no idea what happened to it. I am almost willing to think that someone swipped it while I was getting a after round hotdog. But not sure why they wouldn't have taken the driver or putter.

 

If that was it, glad they didn't take more. If I left it someplace, well, bummer. Either way time to order a new one.
