A question for the SuperSpeed Golf and  '18 SS testers: i just started week five and seem to have plateaued. Is this typical? Granted I made gains from week 1, but the numbers from the end of week 3 along with week 4 and yesterday's week 5/day1 are incremental at best. I'm following the protocols on warm-up and swinging as hard as I can but can't seem to move the needle very much. On the other hand the numbers from week 1 are definitely breakthrough, and on the course.as well. In fact yesterday I hit my 22* hybrid 178 yds. That's 20 yds longer than I have on my distance charts to I'm pretty pleased with overall progress.
Perhaps my expectations are too high or I'm too impatient? SuperSpeed Golf and '18 testers, your thoughts.
It's exactly as@sirchunksalot said the plateaus are almost part of it. The real frustrating part is when your numbers drop a little bit, which will happen. The key is all about consistency and sticking with it. Nothing better then when the jump pops up. The fact that you are seeing on course changes makes a huge difference. It took me a very long time to start seeing that.

Yes, you will plateau.  Listen to @sirchunksalot.  He's the guru.  Keep doing the protocols and you will eventually see another jump.

Non-dominant hand swings get faster as the motion starts feeling more coordinated with more reps.  I eventually was swinging faster with non-dominant hand; seem like a more natural movement.  Maybe I should have been a Lefty??   hahahaha

I am starting to see the same thing as well @tony@CIC with reaching a plateau, the SuperSpeed Training Cycles Chart shows normalization of increased speeds within Level 1, and a second increase during Level 3. This is going to be a marathon to Super Speed!

I’m going to concur with my fellow ‘18 testers - you hit a plateau towards the end of the first level and be prepared because it lasts a while. And yes you may see some regression but stick with it because that second jump comes. For some of us it wasn’t until level three, for others it was towards the end of two but it will come.

This will not be a straight line. That’s the one thing I’m sure of. :)

Hi all, just joined to see how everyone is doing

Just started  my program this morning, and was wondering if the first day "big bump" everyone is experience is generally for everyone, or did some people not see a instant increase?

my average before session was at 102mph with 103 the highest, while after the session, it was at 102.5mph average but with a highest at 107.

Normal? or am i expecting a miracle? 😄

thanks

From the call we had with Superspeed they did mention that results will vary and 5% is usual to start if memory serves so the fact you are at 107 isn't too far off. I'm sure with a bit more time and sessions you will see good speed gains. If you have any specific concerns you can @SuperSpeed Golf and they will help address those concerns...however after one session I wouldn't be too concerned at all.

thanks for the feedback. It seems like all the reviews I have watched on Youtube, people seem to have massive gain on their first session.  I guess it just gave me a false expectation to what I should get, thus getting slightly disappointed with the initial results 😄

I agree with @Apolloshowl after doing the first session you typically will see a jump in speed, but it will take time for it to become permanent. I was initially disappointed after finishing the first set of protocols with the jump not happening immediately. It actually took a couple of weeks after that for it to happen. @revkev brought this up before me, but I just wanted to second this notion. It takes time for both your body and mind to process and adjust to the new speed. Keep it up and you'll be swinging faster in no time!

SuperSpeed recommends a day rest between sets. It's good to give your muscles time to recover and not risk the chance of injury. I wouldn't think doing it every day would really show any additional gains.

I think the bit of rest is helpful. I have been using them for warm-ups and just overall getting loose before rounds.

They did mention they have had ppl try protocols more frequently, but it didn't produce greater results

Helps the neural pathways to "heal" is what I believe was said before. If I remember correctly doing every day will actually hamper your ability to see gains. Gotta trick those neurons into firing faster then they thought they could.

I’ve actually been somewhat surprised at how tiring this is . I consider myself to be in pretty good shape , run, cycle , eat good and after the protocol you feel it.

I "joined" as an unofficial tester in the 18 group and was able to do 3 times a week but when summer came around I flat stopped. So for me I am doing 2 times now just to keep it consistent to make sure i stick with it through the summer. Physically it also feels better for me because i remember doing lots of protocols during my first go round and being completely gassed.

I'll echo your experience - I initially was doing the protocols three times a week, but completely stopped last summer as I just got too busy and lazy. This year I started with three per week during the winter, but now that summer has arrived I'm down to twice a week again. It's the best I can do when I'm juggling yard/house work, gardening, playing golf three times a week, working out three times a week, etc. During the winter I have a lot more "free" time on my hands.

Additionally, I've found there can be a ton of variation depending on how well rested you are or what you've done prior to the workouts. There are days where I feel very fast and I can really push the numbers up there, but then there are others where no matter how fast I feel, the numbers just aren't there.

Ok, I am feeling it the day after my first session yesterday morning.

my left sides (shoulder, left butt and lower left back) are starting to feel kind of sore, which I assume is due to lack of actual movement from my golf swings (I dont exercise much beside golf 😄

I also went to my Chiropractor for my 3-weekly adjustment last night, and she has noted my neck and shoulder were pretty locked up, and after adjustment it has been a lot freer in movement.

This morning I went to test out a 3 wood I just put together (m3+Diamana Blue) and it has to be the best speed and contact I have made compare to before (220y carry 250y total)

I am not a big hitter, and didnt try to swing hard or fast, and was getting average 100mph with the 3 wood. Balls were usual range balls, and distance was from Toptracer, so the results are not 100%; My previous trackman gapping session showed a swing speed of 91mph for my other 3 wood.

Will be interesting to see if this is an equipment difference or result from the superspeed session

Like some others on here I do seem to be hitting a plateau. I’m consistently reaching 95/97 mph on the final set of normal swings, been those numbers for the last couple weeks , minus the one anomaly when I hit 106 on Sunday.. I’m almost thinking that was a glitch.

I know I've already posted about this,  but I'm envious of you guys with the monitors.

There is ZERO chance I won't stay with it, but I'm looking forward to the "eureka" moment on the course.  I am at least not seeing the wayward shots that others have warned about either, and I'm certain I'm going all out in the workouts.  (Knock on wood, playing today...)

Just to baseline expectations, the text from the MGS write-up concerning the jumps and plateaus reads "You'll need to train with SuperSpeed three times a week for six to eight weeks before any kind of lasting improvement can take hold."  And "Once the normalization kicks in, Superspeed says users will generally see a plateau in their swing speeds.  That plateau can last anywhere from 60 to 90 days before another three to five percent jump takes place..."

Is that generally consistent with what everyone is seeing?

I'm assuming that chart is generated by averaging a whole bunch of users. Because of the "noise" in my data, it's hard to say, but I'm getting close to reaching the before=after plateau.

Might be my inability to be satisfied with what I have.
I’m gaming the mavrik max with evenflow riptide 50g shaft due to slow swing speed, I had purchased the Cleveland hb turbo driver with a 60g shaft in it and took it out for a head to head last week and I was easily out driving the mavick with the light shaft. I tried the sim driver with a 60g shaft and similar results out driving the max by not just a little but a lot.. best drive with Cleveland and Sim were 254 and 257 respectively.. 234 is the best I’ve got with the max.
Does it seem possible that the shaft is to light already in my driver?

Definitely seems that way... I definitely prefer a heavier shaft and don't get along very well light weight shafts from a timing perspective. Any chance you can go to a bay or fitting room to put a different shaft or two in your mavrick?

Your reading my mail.. I’m going to the fitter after work today with the mavrik and see what he suggests. The sim driver with the diamana s limited 60 reg flex has been amazing.. I have tired it a couple times now and it’s just a fairway finding monster for me. Which is not usually the case with Taylormade clubs . This could get expensive if getting faster means new shafts throughout

I desperately want a new driver even though the epic Sub zero has been great for me, however I'm holding back because I know when this is finished I'd need something different. It's a great carrot at the end for me though. Also will feel well deserved. So many good options out there... Any chance you have friends with Callaway drivers that you could slip their shaft in for a round or two?

Unfortunately no, the guy I get lessons from that fit me for this driver has the same shaft in 60 and 70 , I’ll go over tonight and see what it’s like in the different shafts. Might be bagging the sim if I can’t get the mavrik up to snuff
