If soft is slow....does the incoming speed negate the spin rate off the tee?

I suppose I don't understand the question -- Incoming speed of what? The clubhead? (Sorry, maybe others have more insight here?)

Not sure I understand the question either.  Ball speed is based on strike quality and how much energy is transferred to the ball.  My understanding is that the lower the balls compression the less ball speed you will get.  Spin is more related to loft and angle of attack but club speed probably factors in somewhat.  So I could have a ball that spins a lot because of how I deliver the club but has lower ball speed.  But given the same club AoA and delivered loft the differing club head speed would probably influence the spin.    All that said and in my opinion, the same player that delivers the same club head speed, AoA, and dynamic loft would get the same spin rate on different compression balls or not enough difference that would have significant influence.    Again all my opinion because I haven’t seen it tested.

soft isnt slow...i thought the was concluded in this last test that the ball speeds beytween "soft balls" like the Chromesoft and say the Left Dash (X-Firm) is minimal....

on a mid swing driver, there is less than 2mph difference.....and the "soft balls" in some cases have longer carry distances....look at the BXS.....86 compression vs 101 and the BXS flies further off the driver at mid swing speeds

when you get into the 120 swing speed range, the firmer balls fly farther but only by ~5 yards....which is 15 feet....just ebough to brag about if you are the longest driver in your 4 some.

All things being equal, an increase in club speed will increase launch and spin.  And 116 mph is firmly in the high speed category of players.  120+ mph are the 1%.
