i'd go with the versa look if I went with this putter. Too bad I just got my "I believe" headcover coming in for my DF2.1, otherwise I may be actually looking at this more seriously or if I ever want to try a broomstick.

I think I've done another 15 mock ups. I'm truly not sure how I don't not get one of these are some point.

The thing preventing me from acting on my overall lack of will power is choosing to not do a mock up

Ifffff anyone is curious however, it’s a platinum counterbalance with a TPT and a T mark.

I'm holding out until the broomstick comes out. I still need to send in my video for fitting but they told me sometime in March most likely.

I think I've made close to 20 different versions - playing around with the color & alignment options, but I also come back to the Cappuccino with white Accra shaft.  Now I'm toying with the idea of a CB (vs traditional setup).

The draw to actually hit "purchase" is starting to get REALLLLY hard.

That said I don't have the other shafts laying around to A/B with so...

Interesting comments - I may be able to provide some insight from my LAB journey that just got a new Stable Member yesterday.  I got the DF3 with the TPT shaft - it is part of an experiment to test using a 79.5º lie angle with a standard putter.

First - the shaft comparison. I have the Accra shaft in the MEZZ and MEZZ Max. I have the Stability shaft in 3 DF 2.1s. I have the TPT in a DF2.1 broom, a MEZZ Max broom and now the DF3 regular putter.

I just rolled them to get it all clear in my head.  Here are my impressions:

Accra - have always loved this shaft for its very lively feel - not like it is whippy (yes a ridiculous descriptor of a putter shaft). I just like its lighter lively feel (my terms)

Stability - it feels more solid than the Accra, but you might describe that as dead.  In my mind it means less liveliness but maybe more accuracy due to less movement (movement being the lively.)  These are all perceptions and zero measured data to back these feelings up

TPT - this shaft is really a cross between the two. It feels like a more lively stability shaft - erring more on the stable side than lively but a really great feel.  In the brooms it is amazing with its feel, but in the regular length that feel is still there, but your question is, is it worth $399 in a regular length putter.  I would answer that with if money is an issue you will be plenty happy with the Accra. If the TPT is in your budget, I would go for it - I just really like that putter shaft.  

Short comment on the 79.5º experiment.  I get the DF3 out and start rolling it on my PuttOut mat and miss EVERY one to the left. I start wondering if the floor has suddenly shifted  so I start rolling putts with the other putters. Nope it is not eh floor. Oh god, did I just was a ton of $?

I had played with grips prior to ordering the DF3, and I went to what I was doing before the order and everything locked in - I use left hand low but I have both index fingers down the shaft and I have two fingers interlocked - this allows me to hang my arms straight down and putt like an elephant trunk  - all shoulders, much int he way that I putt with the broom.

This locked everything in and I am playing tomorrow to check it out. I just think that you can not putt with your normal flat putter (70ish degree lie) and switch back and forth with the brooms. With the 79.5º lie normal length putter you can putt very similarly to the broom and it all seems to work.

Quick Aside:  'Dag' is used as a less offensive version of 'dang' which, in turn, is a more civilized word for 'damn'. Just proving the point that our west coasters are more civilized than us New Englanders.  

Back to the reason you're maybe reading this... DF3 goodness...

The DF3 is impossibly compact for how forgiving it feels.  I don't even this this photo can convey it.  It's so much smaller than the 2.1, but I really didn't feel a difference.  The press Pistol 2.0 is by far my favorite version of all the press grips too.

 

Even among the other LAB putters the DF3 doesn't seem big... sandwiched in-between a Link.1 and Mezz.1:

The 2.1 is still their king model and the most stable of all. Sam loved the DF 2.1 and much like a few who have them while they like the 3 they don't see the massive need to switch.

Ran into PGASS today and they actually had a left handed DF3.

Much smaller than the DF2.1 but I really liked it. The new ball pickup worked great and I could see it being a great broomstick.  I really liked the white textured press grip on it as well. I think I will be switching mine out to that on the DF2.1.  It's smaller and less press than what I currently have.

Yes sir. I guess it has a 2* press but is the pistol grip. I really liked the feel

Yeah I just ordered one for my DF2.1.  It was night and day just from the 10 min of putting around.

I’ve seen a lot of green df3s recently - curious how that looks on a real green.  I feel it would be distracting no?

It could be, possibly could get “lost” visually but I am not sure. It just looks so damn good lol

Sam just had a video about it... I think on instagram.  I'll try to link it later.

He wasn't initially sold on the green because it would be low contrast against the ground.  But, what he found was that it made his alignment aid more contrasted and actually helped him.  YMMV naturally, but I can see someone who things the DF3 is still a little big find that it plays visually smaller in green and maybe a bolder alignment mark would become the only focus.

I'm still partial to black, but the Cappuccino is also in the running.

I still think I would get orange... but given my bag is green and all the ferrules and stuff I have done with my clubs to be green it is hard denying how well this would match everything.
