What is your go to grip - irons / woods / hybrids?

Well do I have a product for you guys! Geko is a water based degreaser that you spray on and wipe off and it is like a brand new grip!

... While not always possible, I try and lead as close to a chemical free life as possible. Like spraying weeds with salt/vinegar. Takes longer than chemicals and usually have to apply two or three times but it works. Glycol Ethers is a no go for me and honestly I had no problem just wiping my grips with water before the Lamkins, which don't need a wipe down. Not preachin' or suggesting what others should or shouldn't use, so thanks for the suggestion but it just isn't a product for me.

GP Tour Velvet Align midsize on irons and driver. GP Tour Velvet 360 on wedges, hybrid, and fairway woods, standard 2 wraps. I prefer a very rougher more abrasive grip as well, I don't like spongy soft grips on my clubs, I really don't like tour wrap style grips.

Golf Pride MCC all day long for me!  Probably a golf sin, but my iron grips are a few years old and still have no issues with the tackiness of them.  Any time I replace a grip, I go with these.

Used a Super Stroke S-Tech on my wedges for a year and they just didn’t seem to hold up as well as I would like.

... Right there with you guys. I have never used a glove and always preferred very tacky grips. I had to wipe them down with a wet towel before every shot and then dry them off. The Lamkin ST +2 Hybrid grip changed that. While they are not tacky as in "sticky" per se, they provide a very solid grip that doesn't slip in my hands. Game changer for me and I have them on all my clubs.

I’ve never tried the Lamkin grips until they came stock on my Mizuno irons. Absolutely love em.

I ended up switching from those to the wraps and seem to last longer and hold their grippiness. Either way they are both great grips. I have some hand arthritis and don't feel tired or achy after the round since switching to those and midsize in particular.

Hit 'em long!

What are your go to grips for your clubs (non putter)?  Are they the same through the bag or different for woods / irons / hybrids / wedges?  Is your choice driven by color, feel, size, price or longevity?  Or is it whatever the guy at the shop decided to put on for you?

I'll start....i use standard size GP tour wrap.  They are on all clubs except the 3w which was a used club i bought with a good enough tour velvet.  When it gets a little more wear i will swap in a GP tour wrap there also.   They are the boring black, no bright colors.  I install them myself with the white lettered logo up.

I have used a wide variety over  decades of play - corded, MCC, winn, lamkin, tour velvet, chamois, CP2, & going way back victory and tacki mac.  I come back to the tour wrap grips because i really like the firmness - not too soft or too hard - and the grips last multiple seasons for me.

So, what is the go to grip for the MGS forum community?

1st choice = Lamkin Crossline 360 (gray or black/white) on all but wedges

2nd Choice = GP Multi Compound (not the +4 version) with 2 extra build-up tape wraps

Wedge Grips = Lamkin 1150 non-taper (extended length) or GolfPride MCC+4

Putter Grip = Gravity Grip or Garsen Quad Tour Proto (for counterweighted putter grips, I prefer SuperStroke Flatso 1.0 with 50g CounterCore weight)

DR - Callaway Paradym AI Smoke TD, Newton Motion 4-Dot

4W - Callaway Paradym 3HL, Newton Motion Fairway shaft, 4-Dot

HYB - Paradym X 18*, HZRDUS Smoke Red 80S; Sub 70 949X 21*, same shaft

7W (if played) - Sub 70 849, ProForce Black 80-S

Irons - Callaway Paradym, HZRDUS Silver Gen 4, S-flex

Wedges - Edison 2.0, 53* and 57* (bent to 58*), KBS TGI 100

Putter - (currently in flux, but usually an Evnroll 8V

Ball - Maxfli Tour-X CG (2023)

Bags - Ghost Golf Maverick Black Ops

Cart - MotoCaddy M7 Remote (without the remote)

Spoiler

driver / off the tee is no longer a weakness for me!

I have used Best Grip Micro-perforated leather grips since 2013. Just think about the steering wheel in your car. A leather wrapped steering wheel makes the entire car feel more premium. This is true of golf grips.  Plus the Best Grips Micro-Perfs have a chemical (Pro-Tac) that makes them tackier or stickier as they get wet. People are amazed when I sick it in water and say, “Now feel this”. This makes them ideal for sweat or rain. Plus they last for years. I blow them on with an air compressor and if I get rid of a club, I’ll take them off and put a cheap rubber grip on and move it to the next club. I don’t even have to wear a glove, which means ultimately they save me money.

Sadly, just tonight I ordered new grips. JumboMax JMX Ultralight XS Blackouts. I had a couple of these in different sizes to test out. I noticed that part of my swing speed loss was because I didn’t have the strength in my left hand to hold on to the club with a full swing. I put them on my driver, 3w and hybrid last week, and it made huge difference.

Today, I couldn’t even close my fingers enough on the mid-size grip, so I bought the JumboMax. This was not a change I wanted to make, but my swing was greatly improved with my “test grip”. Granted, the fingers have never been this bad, but the comfort and speed gains were significant.

I’m still a fan of Best Grips but …. It’s time for me to make a change.

I played my first round in the rain with these yesterday, and almost threw my 7 iron into the lake. Not on purpose, but they were so slick that club almost came out of my hand. I reinstalled the BestGrips this morning on my irons and wedges before my round got rained out.

I’m undecided about driver, 3 wood and hybrid at this time, but since I am expecting new shafts for these, I will try both and then decide. After all it takes 5 minutes to swap them out.

I just discovered a new brand of grips fro the Wedge Guys.  They have cord in 2 places on the grip that gives you a ton of options for installation.  Price is great as well $70 for a set of 13 including tape.  I’ve been using them for the past 6 months and absolutely will not go back to my other grips.

Self proclaimed gadget nut.

I just had my driver and 4i crossover regripped with GP Tour Velvet Cord and really like it. Feels more firm and grippy to me than the rubber bottom of the MCC grips. I’ll most likely get my irons all regripped with Tour Velvet Cord before I go play PGA Frisco in Texas next month.

Outside of the putter I have been impressed by the star grips I have.

I usually like a corded grip or the mcc4 but these so far have been fantastic. The big test will be the summer when it gets really hot and my hands get sweaty.

I’ve got a variety.

Wedges: Lamkin 360 Crossline

As others have mentioned, I like DriTac 2, but when it’s time to change them out I’ll probably go in a different direction. I used to have MCC plus 4s, but I think I’m not a fan of corded grips.

I used to vary them through the bag, with Tour Velvet or MCC on woods and Tour Wrap 2Gs on irons, but have since gone to MCCs on all clubs. On the putter currently it’s a Pistolini which I surprisingly like quite a bit after using different iterations of the SuperStroke 2.0 style grips.

Golf Pride CP2 Pro mid-size, has been my go-to grip for several years.

I have never tried the "Geko" product mentioned above but a little warm water with some Dawn in it and a scrub brush will revive grips and make them like new.

I switched everything over to the Jumbo Max STR8 Tech Non-Tapered grips just about 2 seasons ago and I haven't looked back, have them in everything from driver down to my wedges.

My putter is currently also a Jumbo Max grip, its the 17 inch Jumbo Max grip that is on my LAB Mezz 1. Max (its a friends putter I am still borrowing atm, but I am going to be ordering an identical one to his in the next week or so because of how much I like this one)
