Great round! It's especially impressive since you played an irons only round. It sounds like the swing changes are working out and I hope it continues to get better and better.

Thanks!

It also shows how little confidence I have in my driver swing currently!  ha

I am happy with the progress I am seeing and really looking forward to taking the Mevo data and seeing how I can improve it even more and if I can improve it at a faster rate with the information it provides.

Played a couple sim rounds yesterday after getting my new irons. Irons felt great, but Driver stole the show today had some over 260 (especially this one I cut the corner on the second round):

  • Portland Golf Club (69.9/138, 6112yds): 94 total - 48 out/46 in - 31 auto-putts
  • Franklin Hills CC (70.4/125, 6001yds): 95 total - 47 out/48 in - 34 auto-putts

Somehow the wife decided to let me play 9 holes on her birthday yesterday and we took our daughter to ride on the "tart tart".  She didn't want to go in to town and the weather was perfect, so we loaded up and went to the course.

I played the back 9 which is the harder of the two and shot even par.  I had 2 birdies and the new driver shaft may be staying in the bag.  I have some work to do with turning my hands over but it had a much improved ball flight and distance.

Got out for 9 holes yesterday with my dad!  Hadn’t played in nearly 2 months. Took the new Caley 01’s out on the course for the first time and was more than impressed!

IMG_3870.jpeg.f0c4530c86b8b429ab2b859c1ffc9c93.jpeg

Hit my new driver that my dad got me for Christmas terrible on the first 2 holes and then really dialed it in. Last 3 drives according to SwingU were 272,258,and 273 all in the fairway.

Ended up with 7 bogeys, a triple and a par for a 10 over 45 with 3 3putts .

14 putts. The putting statistic is a bit misleading since I Texas wedged quite a few shots. I actually sunk one from off the green from around 30 feet. My first putt from off the fringe was a downhill slick one that rolled way past the flag leaving me off the other side.

Texas wedge isn't a putt since you aren't on the green.   The stats are based on where the shot is played and not the club you use.    If you use a wedge on the green,  it is still a putt.

I guess I was meaning how well I performed with the putter in my hands, I'm still gaming the Cobra Agera that I gave a poor review and trying to give it a chance to stay in the bag.

I went back to the dashboard on ShotScope and had 14 putts and hit the putter 21 total times yesterday. I guess that's also a statement on how bad my wedge game was.

It's interesting to know that a wedge on the green is considered a putt, I didn't know that and thank you for that bit of knowledge.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, Chris.

The designer of our course set up several greens with sections where you can't putt from if the flag is in the other part of the green... I know, I know, shouldn't have the ball to that part of the green!! 🥴  For this reason I practice my 60º wedge off very tight fringe around the practice putting green.  The shot requires a 10-15y shot over a two-foot high grass mound.  Only one time did I take a divot!!

I haven't played much lately because of my sore knee and frankly, it's just cold!!  Didn't play last weekend, but walked the back nine on Tuesday.  But yesterday was such a gorgeous day; while only 39º when we teed off, it was sunny and NO wind!!!!

IMG_1917.jpeg.648c0b0175db179df13b3532d173bfb0.jpeg

My wife and I played with a couple we know but haven't play with before, and we had a lot of fun!  He's a decent stick... for a Lefty!! 🤣  I started off with a bogey on the 1st hole, which is a short par 4 and is usually an easy par.  But then I parred the other holes on the front nine, except for #6 when I took a nap and got a double bogey! ,,, so a front nine +3 score of 40.

The back nine consisted of 4 bogeys and 2 birdies, for a back nine +2 score of 37... My 77 was my first round in the 70's since the weather turned cold.  Swing didn't feel too bad even though I was wearing many layers.  The highlight of the day was on the par 3 #15; both my wife and I made birdie.  I don't know which birdie was more impressive... mine was an uphill 25-foot L2R putt that broke 12 inches or my wife's 18-inch tap-in.  😂

Played a sim round this morning at Black Desert Resort (71.2/126, 6466 yds). Shot a 90 (48 out, 42 in w/ 31 auto-putts), not too bad for me! Differential ends up being my 2nd best of the year (16.9), and my Trackman HCP dropped to 17.7.

The rocks surrounding the fairways helped out a little bit with bounces, but also put me in really bad situations (2 triples, and 3 doubles). Did a good job minimizing damage around the greens, and was chipping pretty close to the hole and even chipped in to save par on hole 1.

I will report more in the Otto-Phlex thread, but my Christmas present driver shaft was money for me today, both in terms of length but even more importantly accuracy.  57% FH is very high for me, and the misses were in the short cuts so very playable.  Putting came around once I adjusted to the longer winter grass on the greens.  33 putts is not bad.  Irons were solid all day too.

And I got to join up with another single for the back nine, and we hit it off well.  All in all, it was a very fun time.

The score was 39-38-77 (+5).   That would be a PB for me, but I hesitate to count it given the somewhat shorter hole lengths.  But I will take it and smile all through Christmas!

Still a "putt". 😜  I have been a walking scorer and we don't report on clubs used,  only the part of the course that the players is playing from.   If you are on the "green" it is a putt.
