Maybe the Oreo is an older iteration of the bags.   Hood and side panels are definitely different than the other bags.   Not saying it is better or worse, just different.

I did see somewhere a site that details the difference between the bags. The Oreo, and I think one of the others, has fabric type side panels whereas the other models have the imitation leather. Not sure if this correlates to the hoods as well.
Personally this was one of the reasons I went for the Oreo as thought the imitation leather might make you a bit more sweaty when carrying, plus the Oreo is by far the best colour of course 😉

+1 on the different padding and reasoning as to another factor in my choosing of the Oreo (besides the fact that it is the best color option 😁). I sweat like a pig doing literally any level of physical activity, so the perforated mesh material seemed as though it may be more comfortable for me personally when I do walk and carry.

I did pull this off the website but it only shows up under the Ronin.

"RONIN has Carbon Fiber accents around the large ball pocket cover and on the water bottle sleeves. KATANA does not have any Carbon Fiber elements.

RONIN has Nylon Webbed backrest pads on both sides, whereas KATANA has Leather backrest pads similar to rest of the bag material."

It sounds like this should have been added to the Oreo as well, or I didn't see it under the Oreo page.

First, I would like to thank the MyGolfSpy Forum and Ghost Golf for this amazing opportunity to be a part of this test/review. This is a job I do not take likely, and look forward to helping everyone, including myself, see just how premium Ghost Golf is.

Introduction:

So many of you know me already, some may not. You can usually find me in the Good Morning Thread or in the thread “perfect UNPERFECT: Grinding for (NON)Perfection” as the guy always saying, “BE THE BLESSING” on the forum. I have been a regular on MGS since Sep 2023, and was lucky enough to be to choose to do a re-test for the Paradym driver. This forum and everyone in it have simply been amazing and has done nothing but make me fall in love with the game that we all play even more. Golf is what brings us here, and that bug has bit me again.

Who am I, you may be asking yourself? Well, I am Sam, a.k.a. Samuel09152, I am a 33-year-old IT manager that works on gov’t contracts. I am married to a beautiful woman, who is my all, and we have a wonder 16-month-old daughter.  I am hoping she becomes a golfer! These two women are the reason for me getting up every day.

My golf game is getting better, as I continue to grind. I only wish I would have picked up golf at a lot younger age. I currently have an 18 handicap. I try to play at least 3x a month and practice 4x a week. All my golf has been played down in the south, and every time I travel, I try to get a round in. My home is in N. Alabama, playing year around is usually not a big deal. I have also been focusing on my mental game a lot lately. So, this golf bag will be coming in handy, you know what they say, “Look good, feel good, play good.” I think this is true and the bag may make me have to elevate my game because of how it makes me feel.  We are currently grinding to become the best we can on and off the course. So 15 better be scared, I'll see you soon!

Ghost Anyday Bag:

My expectations are that this bag is exactly as advertised, premium. As I am in the market for a new bag, this couldn’t have come at a better time. I chose the Anyday Maverick Black-ops Bag with 14-way dividers (see the picture Below). I plan on testing this bag against my current Taylormade Bag.

image.png.002540c4f20ba1ae7bc4c135631c2f69.png

The features I plan testing:

is its weight for carrying/walking (I try to walk most of the time)?

the comfort and quality of the straps?

How well the full-length dividers work and if they are durable?

Is the stand very sturdy, that will go with the base as well?

Is the glove keeper able to keep the gloves clean and dry?

How well do the water bottle sleeves work?

Finally, as most people when spending this kind of money, we would like to know that our investment will last, I hope to test the durability by playing a lot and using it a ton!

First Impressions: (18 out 20)

Long travels turn into an exciting night. After what felt like forever in a car coming home from the land that Bobby Jones helped build, The Highlands, NC, I was elated to see my Ghost Golf Bag in the office. Shoutout to my parents for staying at my house and making sure nothing was stolen. The First thing that caught my eye, was the themed box. “Talk to me Goose”- Maverick, that is right, the box is “Top Gun” themed. The grey box with the Ghost logo looks great but was even happier with how they packed everything. This could be common (I don’t order a lot of things), well cutting the box open, the extra piece of cardboard to make sure I didn’t cut the velvet was a very nice touch. I am the guy that cuts to deep on tape and would have destroyed the box.

Where to start, is it how awesome this synthetic leather feels and looks or what I wish this bag had. I say let’s start with the negative (if you can even call it that). As much as my initial thoughts are this bag is fantastic, I keyed in right away that I think I would have done different, or possibly add. The lack of places to hang anything is hard for me. I sweat a lot and usually hang 2 to 3 towels from my bag for wiping off grips, face, and arms but with only the one towel hook that is going to make it hard. I also typically hang my Gramin R10, a Dart 2.0 speaker, and a bag badge/tag, but I don’t think I will be able to. Right above the one clip is a patch of Velcro for the glove, I feel as if this needs to be bigger.  I love the fact there is insulated pockets but worry because they close by one small magnet. Love the ease of access, but in my experience in N. Alabama, you got to trap the cold in the summer no vents allowed. While I love the saddle pocket (more to come), I fear I will miss the big side pocket. I know the ball pocket is made to be interchangeable, but I do wish I could hide the Velcro on the bottom just a little better (just nit picking, but also, I do).  For these reasons, I give it a minus 2. (Pictures for this coming soon)

IMG_5751.JPEG.f9fa66793b086605df21f583f7ac85a9.JPEG

Let make you forget that stuff and get to the good stuff, right? This bag seems to be made from a quality synthetic leather. It should be easy to clean and tidy up when it gets dirty. The legs and base seem to be very sturdy, the legs being made of carbon fiber, and the base out of a very tough plastic. The bag is lightweight, which I was worried about, and the straps are like pillows on my shoulders. The saddle bags seem to have enough room for all that I usually carry and love the personal pockets on the top. The magnet pocket on the front is awesome and is strong. The ball pocket is big and holds the balls I use plus some. On the outside of the ball pocket is two water bottle pockets, this is something I missed in looking at it, but I love it. The strap system is easy to use and seems durable, this system will also make going from on strap to two with ease. I have never had a 14-way divider, but I have already fallen in love with it. From the velvet top to the full-length divider, this club handling system is legit.

Just a FYI related to the rain cover.

I purchased a Katana version and it has the nylon/denier material rain hood similar to the Oreo bag.

This material is typically used in luggage, or other light weight articles one would use to move or transport items in, and is very durable and weather proof.

Can anyone comment on the cooler size?  Hypothetically, how many beers will fit with some ice?  TIA!

It will depend on how full the pockets are, but I would say two maybe three on each side.

The inside of the to drink pouches are also cooler lined, or mine are so you maybe able to get 1 on each side of the ball pockets as well.

Definitely very similar.   I was at MGS HQ today and Connor uses a Vessel bag so I took an opportunity to check it out.   There are subtle differences in the leg mechanics and some finish details.   the storage of the Vessel seems to be a little less even with the larger side pocket though I am not sure which Vessel model he has.   I'll try to remember to ask him tomorrow.

I chatted with Connor.  He is using a Vessel Player IV pro bag which seems to be equivalent to the Ghost Bag.   My quick assessment is that the Ghost bag has a little better storage.  Other than that they are pretty similar.

I had a Ghost bag for about 6 months of light use (7 rounds or so), before I switched to a Vessel bag.

From a feature perspective, I think they’re pretty much the same with mostly marginal differences. The biggest disparity that I feel with extended use of the Vessel bag is that Ghost’s bag straps are much more padded and comfortable than Vessel’s.

The reason I got off of the Ghost bag was because of the connection point on the strap. I believe Vessel calls it their “equilibrium” system, I don’t think Ghost has a name for theirs. But it’s that plastic circular piece where the four connection points of the straps meet.

After a few rounds of use, that piece started squeaking really badly. Every step I took, squeak squeak squeak. It drove me crazy. I wonder if it’s a design flaw or if it was a one off issue. Looking at that same component on both the Ghost and Vessel bags shows that they’re very similar (like, almost identical). But I’m now 15ish rounds in with my Vessel bag and no squeaking.

I will be adding this to what test. I'm assuming you are talkning about this piece? If so, does the Vessel's have a more enclosed setting? I am just wondering if something got into it or can. I know the gap is small but if sweat or sand or something got into that joint (assuming it is made like a ball bearing) if that could be the cause.

Thanks for adding this photo, it looks like they completely changed this part (I bought my Ghost bag last June). This updated iteration has the nylon straps looped directly and permanently to the four point center piece whereas my version had a circular piece with the connection points that slid along a small internal slotted rail (if you look at any Vessel bag, it’s basically identical).

The picture you provided appears to me that any potential squeaking issues have been eliminated from even happening. I wonder if 1) there were a lot of complaints about this or 2) if Vessel did something about how similar Ghost’s implantation was to theirs.

For those who don’t know, this is what’s Vessel’s looks like. The Ghost Anyday bags from last year and prior had this exact same implementation.

The ghost implementation is completely different from that design.

Has the opportunity to actually touch one yesterday  (that sounds kind of perverted,  sorry 😆)

Not sure what model it was, and he said he won it at a benefit raffle tournament .

What he did say was that it was the best bag he ever owned!  Seeing it in person was cool too!

I asked him if there was anything he would change about it, and he said the only thing was the loop clips on the sides. The left side had a snap on cloth loop that came with an attachment on it, and he cut the piece off and now uses it with a carabiner for his towels. He wished the right side was a snap on attachment too, so he could swap sides as needed. He also mentioned he counted 12 locations where it has Ghost Golf on the bag. He said it was a bit excessive.

Alright! Last but not least: The unboxing and first impressions are live in the main testing post for the Anyday Ronin bag!

Enjoy! I'm looking forward to reading your comments about this stunning bag!

Great pics and great unboxing post. I see the Ronin has the same mesh side panels as the Oreo bag which should make the carry experience more enjoyable in my opinion. I've only used mine with a push cart so far but plan to get it on my shoulders for a round here soon. Eager to hear your thoughts on what it's like to carry for 18 holes.

So I did play 18 yesterday, in which I rode this time to talk with my partner. Here is my first take on this:

  1. Love the 14 way divider! That was nice, and help me make sure I did not forget to pick up a club around the green.
  2. I wish the velcro for the gloves were a little bigger because I rotate through gloves during a round due to sweat.
  3. The cart sleeve is a must!!!
    1. I say this because I had to re-adjust the bag mulitple times, due to the way it set in those carts. I dont know if it was the cart, the bag, or how tight the strap was originally, but will be paying more attention to this. While I dont think it was the tightness of the strap because the legs were already pushing on the basket behind the seats, but it could be.
  4. Love the magnet towels, but will have to get back to using them.
  5. Course had some wet areas, so I did get the bag dirty, and the ability to clean it was amazing! The synthetic leather is so easy to clean. I cleaned with a wet rag, and it worked.
  6. Everyone loved it! I looked way better then I played (worst round of the year).
  7. I honestly forgot to put cans or water in the cooler becasue I am a ding dong. Good news there will be other chances.

I love the grey scheme, and the "Top Gun" theme! Thank you!

Other than the box… was there many other ‘Top Gun’ hidden references?

I am THE worst putter in the world… I will not have you try to take what is mine

So this could be just me and the way I think, but I think the whole bag could be a reference honestly. From the Grey color (which is my guess why they named it Maverick, after the color of some fighter jets), the pull tabs being red with white writing ("Remove before Flight", also I know every bag has these but fits to the theme for me lol), to the black GHOST logo and carbon fiber legs being so clean and sleek like Maverick was,  and of course the box. But to get to what I think you mean not that I have noticed yet, but I am still looking over everything very closely so it might be there and I just havent found it.

Same. I haven't carried my clubs for the last 6 years or so (except for a few rounds at my local par 3 course with 7 clubs in the bag and for 1h30 rounds at most) so I hope that the experience will be enjoyable!

The way these straps are built and the quality of the padding will most likely help. Maybe I'm geeking out a bit, but just to make sure, I'll follow Golf Digest's guidelines regarding strap adjustment and report back promptly!
